Surfed Portugal in September 2002, water temp was pretty similar to west coast WA. Made do with a 3x2 a couple of days with a springy.

They want to build a pool at your local, I hope that doesn't get the go a head

Those SEA fins are bloody good value for money. I emailed the guy as he didn't have the exact quad set I was after and he rang me back straight away on a Sunday, broke up two sets and posted them for delivery to WA by Tuesday. Top notch service and and I couldn't fault the quality

They'll put the proposed pool alongside the proposed restaurant at the end of the proposed pier.

Never gonna happen.

Yeah the concept artists/architects certainly didn't factor in the oceanography of the area at all. For starters they seem to have forgotten that there is a reef there...

Nothing a bit of dynamite may fix..

I cant see it happening either, not under Barnet.. But depending on who gets in next may be of interest. Our state is looking for both safe swimming enclosures and tourist attractions currently.. A ocean pool at Cott would provide both

It'll go ahead.
The city of Stirling needs another public pool and no-one will give up any land. The old Hertha Rd site is still moving, and Scabs is about all they've got, stupid as it may be, not withstanding the lack of parking it will compound.
Empty waves could become a reality for locals unless you wanna pay for parking at Wilson's.

The guy's a kook and their proposal is a house of cards. I've got a detailed analysis of the paper(s) that it's based on from the last time that moron was pushing it, two or three years ago. The papers were written by an undergraduate and an exchange student and are little more than semester credit projects. The ex-uni professor surely has a distinguished past, however he was unceremoniously fired from UWA after the last proposal push, which is probably why it's been quiet for a while. Doesn't look good for him. Locke himself is surely at the beach often enough to know that there are a multitude of problems, so I can't understand why he keeps pushing it.

If they wanted to stick a breakwall pool somewhere along the Floz/Brighton stretch I wouldn't argue too hard. But this is a dumbarse location. If they start to gather momentum again I guess I'll have to dig out my analyses and go on the warpath once more. It wouldn't be a good look for Barnett to back it, but Barnett's not the one to worry about. McGowan is on the record supporting high-rise density along that coast and I'm sure a pool would be great for all the retirees and overseas investors. McGowan supports ocean pools too. He's forcing me to vote Liberal.

I think that would also create a wave possibly either side if they did that.

No-one cares about waves. That's part of the problem from a surfer's perspective. They care about a monument and on their side they have children, elderly, invalid, handicapped. Kind of hard to argue against that. Luckily that particular proposal is garbage so it's possible to separate emotional fallacies and attack the logistical and engineering mistakes, not to mention the lies and mistruths they spread.
