Fun waves today, expected more swell & less crowd. Took the soloshot down coz I havn't got much footage of this year, but the 17sec inconsistent swell period to numbers in the water turned me off. Looks like a lot of other people expected more today too...but yeah some fun ones, times like this you gotta remind yourself you would be frothing if it was summer haha...just hope we get some good days before the years up to make up for it

Back at work today and there were some nice little waves at the beach nearby. Saw a few whales as well out on the job. Good to see whales when you're at work. Back surfing on Thursday with a helmet.

All I'm hearing is the 9.10 is a winner not 100% sure what he means or where he surfed.

Good trip Mick but pretty ordinary surf so I played it safe and stayed out of the water. Scored plenty of points

Timed it perfectly today...seabreeze came in as I was putting on my wettie. Would have been good for those who got out there early. Barely surfed an hour coz one bloke got spooked by the local big old seal & then I got spooked about surfing on my own. Shame it was still alright really...

Its offshore tomorrow.

It's offshore tomorrow.

It's offshore tomorrow.

Hopefully its the start of the end of winter. No Autumn and a long winter.

The bay's and points are fun and all, but nothing gets me excited like west coast grunt. I have been arguing all day with blokes at work as we have all been talking up our favourite waves.

Started out on BS hill trying to talk a mate into coming out so I wasn't surfing on my own, but he had other stuff to do. Hit another break with one other bloke out, regular chest high waves, offshore causing a few bumps but fun. People came & went after having a quick surf. Never more than 3 other people & then when it was back to just me & one other bloke the wind dropped right out, tide dropped & it was bloody good. I was about to leave after 2.5 hrs of wave after wave. But a good mate come out & mentioned how he didn't like surfing alone either these days & if I went in he would have to as well. So I would of felt bad leaving him on his own & no one else rocked up. Surfed just over 4hrs & bailed when he said he'd had enough. Magic day

Spent the last couple of hours trying to improve my cross stepping. Tried doing it fast, had better luck trying it slow. But so often it is like I have an ejection system on my board as soon as I cross step I go full retard. Was switch footing for the first couple of hours, cutting back, doing floaters switch foot. But I just can't seem to get this cross stepping thing happening, its so bloody frustrating. Blew quite a few waves coz of it

Mick you'll get it. Just keep practicing. Practice on a narrow beam up and back.

Had some fun ones on the longboard at the local beachie this morning. Offshore was a bit blowy again, but the banks are perfect for longboarding. Deep channels on either side, could actually get a couple of cutbacks in & do foam take offs & get back out on the face

I hear you Ricardo. Hope you get some good waves on your trip. You should do looking at the forecast. Have had one surf since I have been back - so instead I have been sailing. Yesterday arvo was great fun with some good gusts and a nice sunset. We decided to moor up for the night and take it all in. Joy.

Got a couple at my local point today, nothing special about that, but what made it unusual was the music festival that was taking place at the same time, one of the bands was right beside the take off, so even a deaf old coont like me could hear it.

Best of all, it was usually stuff I was familiar with, Bop'n the blues, Chuck Berry, eagles, that sort of stuff.

As much as I say I don't like music because I can't hear it, it was kinda fun to work a wave with a bit of a tune in the background.
