What really surprised me was Steve matai wanting out to go to warriors saying he was unhappy at Manly then resigns with them-der?i also think that if a player comes up through the juniors into grade they should be exempt from the salary cap and maybe same for players that have served say 6years for the same club.Any thoughts??

I agree with the breeding ground,if the club has developed a young player they should have some discount, look at my Broncos for years they developed young players only to have to let them go which I'm sure is the case in other clubs, why should a club who invests in youth be punished.I guess if you look at the gold coke nose bleed titans who develop fk all they wouldn't be competitive.

No no no no no sorry boys that will never work.

clubs would be signing lads up by the millions,,they do it now.
let alone the benefits of salary cap.

Edit.. BTW under 20's do have a salary cap.

I agree with the principle Ricardo. Mac - you use a poor example to highlight it! Bronx have had more pulling power than anyone for a very long time. Suck it up

Simple really. They are a one town team in a huge town with loads of corp support and a huge catchment area. They have had it good for a very long time. Think about the catchment area your beloved Souths have to unearth superstars in comparison - even the Roosters have been taking your feeder clubs. Given that they have a much larger stock of young blokes then that gives them a higher probability of finding some good ones that they can keep for a long period of time and hence any salary cap inducements that reduce the cap effect on players who have been at the club since the juniors favours them massively.

mate its not 1985 forget this catchment area bull****.
the feeder clubs are feed from recruiting from anywhere in the world …… not in the clubs backyard.

every single club in the league has spotters in every bloody state and every club has a recruitment team that travels the globe.
ted i tell you i have family that was in recruitment at the broncs and it means nothing to you. family are now with another NRL club two states away and its the same there, nothing has changed he still flys to Brisbane, yeppoon ,NZ ,tonga. Fiji, cairns, blacktown, just like he did with broncs to sign players to go to feeder clubs.

its cutthroat in junior footy mate parents want their pound of flesh for young Johnny and will not sign with just any team.

i know nothing.

fark i love arguing with you

can't wait till we smash you in the cricket
