I think he must have been describing me, not the board, this is from the urban dictionary

Doughy
unknown

An Australian term. A doughy person is slow to catch on and in fact would be the type of person who doesn't understand the meaning of this word.

Yeah Tux, if looks are anything to go by, she's a winner.

That's the style of fin I like to use but since I picked up the Medusa, I'm not so sure I should.

The shaper asked me what I used and I explained it was a 9.75 Bennett retro with a narrow tip and a good amount of sweepback. He said he tried a similar fin but found it was swept back too much and made the board feel doughy, so he went to something more upright and it improved.

I nodded in agreement, but only because I had no idea what "doughy" means and I didn't want to sound like a complete dickhead, even if I am a complete dickhead.

But the thing is, he got me so worried that I was ridding a doughy board, I went home, got out every fin I had and measured the rake. I even went to the trouble of writing down the rake at the base of each fin, alongside the height.

He was right about the rake on that fin, it was the biggest at 11 inches. The smallest rake I could find was a 9.5 inch fin with a 9.5 inch rake, so I'm going to give that a try.

Don't want a doughy board do I, Even if I wouldn't know it from a hole in my arse

Geez Tux have a look at Salty Merchants and Alkali sites if you want to see rake fins. The one you replaced is minimal compaired to them. Thomas Beckson describes doughy fins as too much flex in the tip on Alkali site.

How long do you reckon I can hide a board in my work truck. I'm happy to run a book on it. It's been in the truck for a month now. The year of living dangerously. Wooo hooo.

I was well and truly outclassed today at seal rocks, only another 3 out there and they were all way younger and way better than me. I just hung around for the dregs

never surfed there before, strange wave, I'm sure it can peel off on the day, but on a small day like today, it had a lot of sections over a reasonably short distance. I lost count of how many I didn't paddle onto some, because I thought I would drop in, only to see a guy bail because it fell apart in front of him and I could have have a nice ride by myself

BTW, I think my original fin choice was better so I'll swap back again tomoz Doughy must suit me

Just sit next to the rock..

It's a strange wave. You think your into it but just drifts under you and it Bends the wrong way a lot of the time and doesn't line up unless the swell is a certain directon and period.

Yes, I noticed that, and there was also a rip just beside the rocks, reminded me a lot of the Southern end of Palmy.

Trouble is there was only room for one person out there and a guy on a beat up old Mactavish had dibs on it.

Ducking down low here, hoping no one will notice....
Darth, I did a test run on a build it myself board.

Forward fin makes it usable, rather than walking home.
No tendency to trip over it yet.
Test will be how small I can go with the forward fin?
And can I be bothered putting the rig together....????
