Yeah happy birthday cobra

1 march can be a bit tricky in certain years, if you cop 29 Feb

if I was just 1 year older, or 3 years younger, I'd probably only be around 15 years old now

It's going to be agony to stay off it for a whole week.

Couldn't wait by the look of it.

Glad you had a good surf on it first up..

This board marks a radical departure in the type of board I always thought I could ride, so it's gratifying to know that I may not be as one dimensional as I thought I was.

But I can't lose sight of the fact that yesterday was knee high rubbish, and I really need a quantity face to know for sure

Usually if they go good in junk they are even better in better waves.

Is it thinner and narrower then your last one?
Nose looks kinda narrowish to? And with the wide point back a bit and hip in the tail I would assume it would turn pretty good?

Yes, I just don't get it, how can a nose that narrow keep a big boy like me dry, but if I can get that sweet little tail upturn under a curl, or just inside a crumbly one, it locks down hard and I can take a stroll.

that's what happened on wave 3 yesterday, I got 10 little piggies over the right side of the nose, it felt so good I started styling with an arched back and 2 hands behind my butt.

i thought no one would see me, then I heard this hoot, turned around and that were these 2 young guys about 50 metres away throwing the Shaka.

i'm glad no breezers were there, the points loss would have been horendious

Yeah Tux, if looks are anything to go by, she's a winner.

That's the style of fin I like to use but since I picked up the Medusa, I'm not so sure I should.

The shaper asked me what I used and I explained it was a 9.75 Bennett retro with a narrow tip and a good amount of sweepback. He said he tried a similar fin but found it was swept back too much and made the board feel doughy, so he went to something more upright and it improved.

I nodded in agreement, but only because I had no idea what "doughy" means and I didn't want to sound like a complete dickhead, even if I am a complete dickhead.

But the thing is, he got me so worried that I was ridding a doughy board, I went home, got out every fin I had and measured the rake. I even went to the trouble of writing down the rake at the base of each fin, alongside the height.

He was right about the rake on that fin, it was the biggest at 11 inches. The smallest rake I could find was a 9.5 inch fin with a 9.5 inch rake, so I'm going to give that a try.

Don't want a doughy board do I, Even if I wouldn't know it from a hole in my arse
