Very good fishing, walking and running aaaand, on its day, a Pumping point break ![]()
Your lawn's a disgrace.![]()
Board looks like it should float you well.
can't wait to hear the new board stoke flowing off the screen.
Cant wait to get her wet ![]()

Looks like a fun board Andrew...& a very cool looking location ya live too ![]()
Have ya got some pics of your point going off![]()
Have ya got some pics of your point going off![]()
Sadly, not really as I tend to be on it
i do have this very bad Gopro vid but the camera mounted on the nose makes it look pretty small... anyways, was waist high leftovers swell and super fun but it gets WAY better than this...
Cracking looking board bro....but as has been mentioned your lawn is a disgrace and your gate looks a bit wonky
I'm lovin' you new board/dogs and grass (Sir Walter ?)...now tell me where that point is..looks like it would be great...AND no crowds...promise I wont tell a soul ![]()
Hahaha, yeah, try maintaining a lawn with 3 furr beasts...
And the points no secret, Google maps it, so when a big southerly comes through she does get crowded, ( with like 20 out
) but what is a secret is it breaks WAY more than peeps know, and I've got those sneaky swells down. ![]()
Get it waxed 'n wet today Andrew? Nice colour ..& get the honda over that lawn will ya'..standards have to be maintained on this forum you know, ha
It'll be interesting to read a report from Grant as to how his subx goes in indo.

I would love a report on any sucky waves thats not from grant. The sub x I looked at was atrocious in shape. It looked like a fridge door with a fin. Asked the bloke who owned it what he thought,as I know someone who has ordered one and some crew who were frothing on it....he said to ask if anyone wanted to buy it![]()
Surf free weekend for me unfortunately but tomorrow arvo could be the christening... I hope
I can see what your saying Chrispy, but if you read up on Grants own description, he really didn't think the thing would work, read up as its pretty interesting story www.grantmillersurfboards.com.au/boards/SUBX
Anyway, she is pretty thick and wide but when you take a close look underneath there's clearly some intricate detail and fine tuning going on...
Besides forum I only know one guy who owns one, he tried one when he was up the coast, brought one back to Vic because he freakin loved it, the same guy borrowed (stole
) my old retro fish and reckoned i'd LOVE one of these. He's telling me he scores plenty of barrels on the steeper waves cos he can get into em much earlier which helps him set up and stall. His is about 6'2"-6'4" though I think...
I'm pretty ****e but hey, i'll letya know my verdict ![]()
On a side note, the fin supplied is an 8" Shapers Dolphin which has zero flex, first shapers fin and initial thoughts are I'm pretty underwhelmed, my Captain Fin Co seem much better quality... Just sayin ![]()
I dont like rigid fins..flex is much better to ride..and a 9" is good..for me..you might be different..not that's there's anything wrong with that ![]()
One would expect a designer/shaper to give his boards a wrap, so a report on the SubX from Indo might be a little bias...that said..I really like my Waterskate ![]()
Man.. you gotta love a fridge door. Never know what you'll find when you open that f..ker up. Might find a chrispy beer, chrispy bit of steak, whatever. Open her up Dr Androo & see whats inside. Lotsaguts..
Haha, yeah, I think it was Rasta actually did surf a fridge door and killed it ![]()
And yeah, I've got a 9" Alkali Ryan Lovelace Volan Flex on the way, should make it flyyyyyyyy ![]()

Lol..I like grants shapes, and yes andy I have read the website. Geez I even recommended grant to vanders for a big boy shorty, not the sub x. Still the one I saw was atrocious, the bottom was just as bad imo. So am really looking forward to hearing how they go in the barrel. Whether you can paddle in early or not,I just can't imagine it being a great idea![]()
Yeah Chrispy it will be interesting, Grant is still a damm good rider & I think he got his board converted to a 2+1 so I'd guess with the fins all pushed back it could work. But if its that good he'd prob go for one of his guns I guess.
Dude, she's still dry. Surfed Friday and Monday but they were smaller crumbly lb waves and the hotlog was frofn, mann I love that board
... Anyways I'm away atm but should return to my alkali fins and bigger surf for Friday arvo/Saturday morning... caaaaarnt wait tho ![]()
Ok, so I christened the SubX today in less than ideal conditions but I just really wanted to start to get a feel for her, perfect conditions for the HL
So I paddled her out in waist high clean little crumblers on a beautiful warm tassie day and first impressions, well whilst it paddles very well for a mid length it was quite an adjustment coming off the HL... and really, it just wasn't suited to these small waves at all, especially given I was surfing like a Muppet
But I was noticing the occasional bigger set breaking on the outer bank and whilst there was a massive wait between the sets the waves were a better shape so I made the call to give these a roll, and then she came to life ![]()
. Shoulder high and steeper she just flew down the line and with the Alkali Ryan Lovelace she carves beautiful long clean soul arcs, was super smooth on the rails and holds really well. Didn't manage a keg but did try and stall into a small one and whilst I didn't make it I could deff see the potential as she responded really nicely, especially once I released the stall and stepped fwd she just flew out of the white water and back out to the face and into a little cutty. Actually, this "stepping fwd" i'd read about and makes a huge difference, its kinda like a little turbo when you need that extra speed.
Anyways, conditions tomorrow will be similar and i'll jump back on the HL but i'm really looking forward to riding this on some bigger punchier waves, the exact reason I brought her, as I feel that as I get more comfortable on her and in the right waves she's got a lot more to show me... stoked yeeeeeeeeeeow ![]()
