Yeah good score there cob i was watching a bloke in his 50s over in Bali on one of those and he was having a ball getting waves with ease and even though he probably wasn't the best surfer out there, he was surfing the best in the conditions, which was 4-6 foot long walled beachies,it was like he was on a skateboard, fast smooth and never lost speed through turns, he was surfing it as a 2+1.$400 is a bargain

Arrggghh conflicting emotions on what to do.

Quads or the two +1 ?

Given it comes with a set of quads I'll have a crack with that first.

If I don't like it I'll shift to some 2 + 1 setup's, however I tried that in the Cjet but didn't like it.

Ok as a 2+1. If you don't have the fins then do not waste money buying them trying to make it go better than a quad.
Don't bother with twins.
Been there done that with all kinds of fins and configurations with that exact same size Surftech board and even in the same colour.
Rode mine for years in everything from as big as my local gets to ankle snappers.
Easy 1 board quiver the Tak 6'8".

I still might go a single with side bites for bigger mushier waves down south.

Would really like to try out a squirrel fin like this one:

www.sanctumsurf.com.au/modii-squirrel-fin-light-green

In the right conditions on that board I think it would be a blast.

I've got a True Ames one of those in a 6.5" that I've never used I will sell you. You could run it with sidebites too. The 9" could well be too much fin for a 6'8"
The surfboard warehouse snub nose eco tech I had was a copy of the Scorpion 2 which has a more rounded tail and a couple of other tweaks. Fyi!

I've given Hydro advice before and he's completely ignored it so I feel your.....feeling!

I reserve the right to be completely wrong. Just ask Chrispy!
Fin set ups are of course extremely personal so just run with what you brung.
I was trying to be pyschologically positive by saying quite adamantly that the quads would be great. That way Hydro isn't second guessing the fins and thinking he has to spend money he doesn't have on fins to make the board go better.
But you guys are doing your level best to undo my positive work.

Think I'll join him.

So after asking the guy repeatedly if there where any major issues with the board, and then driving for over an hour, I turn up to find 3 major depressions / creases right in the middle. Stretching from the rail to the centre.

If it seems to good to be true it normally is.

What a bitch hey.

I always look at the pics on my phone so that I can zoom in on the pics which I can't do on the pc.
Can see those dents better on the phone. I had a Surftech Rusty big cat that had a nice dent going across it but looking at it I could tell it was made by something banging into it...as in something in a garage falling on it...this was of less concern than a surfing induced crease.
Looking at the pics I would say that those depressions and the couple of punctures look like that board has been poorly postioned in their garage and copped a pounding as a result. Was their garage/shed a mess? I would have laboured the points about the damage and offered half the asking price if you still wanted to take a chance and if not put the board down and backed away.
My mate who is the King of Gumtree is an absolute expert at sniffing at bargains sometimes gets stooged by sellers that have wax covering undisclosed stuff.
A first red flag to me about a boards true condition is wax on the deck that literally covers the rails like on that Tak and wax all over the bottom. This indicates the owner either is a newb or doesn't care about the board.
Most of the used boards I buy are from my local surfshop. Hands on and under the arm test.

All good if you got an ithingy latest or Samsung Galaxy Gazillion.

Me, I got an $80 Coles special, did you not see the awesome resolution of me Torq board photos?

Zoom is not a feature I posses much of. Hence the myriad of questions.

I actually got quite pissy with him but stopped short of giving him a spray because his kid where there. Even told him before leaving how far I had to roll.

Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained. I had a couple of wins which will see me clear to fix my car.

Just have to keep sniffing around and bide my time, and stop torturing myself looking at the surf reports and how good it's been at different spots.

Cheers CW and if your mate happens to sniff out something amazing over my way I'd love a heads up.

What volume mate? Might almost be worth shipping costs.

A forum member over here offered me a 6'8 loaner.

Damn decent of him but I would be gutted if I borrowed it and then broke it. Given my luck I'd owe him a new board. Think I'd rather just break my own stuff. Besides my broken car won't even get me to the beach anyway, and the part I need to fix it is 4 to 6 weeks away.

This sucks big time.

Thanks anyway matey, appreciate the sentiment.

This was made pre volume details, its probably around 33-36L 6'8x19 3/4 x 2 1/2 ,has a few travel dents on the bottom but its watertight, might be a bit light on going on what you've been looking for

I am in the quad side of the fence for the same reasons as posted, but my mate has surfed his as a daily driver with a two olus one as he hates the quads...so the old saying of fins suit different people/styles certainly applies to this model...also my mate hates it as a single as well
