FZ200 is an epic allrounder with unbeatable battery power. A DSLR will beat it for pics, but not for video. Personally video is way more important for me than pics so until DSLR Canon's & Nikon's end their BS video length limitation in order to avoid EU camcorder extra tax and design a DSLR that is able to adjust auto focus on the fly whilst panning near to far or far to near I'm unlikely to own one since I take most of my video/photo's while on holiday & don't wanna carry a bag with an extra couple of lenses...still loving my FZ200, so must admit I'm biasedBut hey, considering this panorama pic for example is 6 x lower res than original. I reckon the FZ200 does a pretty good job

Panasonics video capability is right up there,the thing is theres no need for a big sensor for moving pictures.The GH5,is the best value camera for video for what it does.The lessor models G85/GX85/GX8/G7 all do a very good job too.

High end Dslrs are good for stills but the latest Nikon d850 has come to the party for video.AT A PRICE!Over 4K U$ for its full capability.Nikon are over the moon,the pre orders have taken the initial production run.There will be a fair wait and it wont get to retail outlets for a while.

Cheers for the info mate, those lessor models like the G85 look pretty nice. Do love the simplicity of a bridge camera though, don't want interchangable lenses at this stage

I had been looking at getting a bigger zoom for my SLR.
I take probably 100 photos a day on average on several cameras, avoid my SLR because I don't understand it.
When I say "my" SLR, I own it, but over 10 or so years have failed to learn how to use it.
Full auto mode most of the time, when I get it back after loaning it to the creative daughter I struggle to even get it back in to Auto mode.
After this post, I checked out the P900 on line - some reviews good, some bad, but the bad generally from "real" photographers who wanted to control it more. Personal recommendation from SA got priority.
Way cheaper than another lens, the bloke in the camera shop recommended it, which along with SA's plug, good enough for me.
Felt a bit light and plasticy at first after the SLR with I think 270mm lens attached, but as I said it's old, Pentax K10D or something body, Sigma lens.
Pretty easy to use without troubling the instructions - everything similar to my Nikon 1 AW1.
Test shots only out the back at work.
Wide angle / non zoomed mode.





See the white truck / van in the distance, with something sticking out behind it?


Zoom is apparently equivalent to a 2m lens on a 35mm camera.
Can't wait to give this a proper try!
Sorry for turning "Road Trip 9 " in to "See my new camera" but love it so far.
