Took the board up to Noosa this morning to give it a run with the 10" IFD Islander fin. Also had it at Burleigh the other week when there was a bit of swell but not out of my pay grade (but borderline). Goes pretty well with the 10" IFD. I think I prefer it with the Alkali fin, but they weren't ridden in even remotely similar conditions.
I'll give it one more surf with the current fin, then try the Shapers S9.

Either way, I'm pretty happy with the board.

Now your making me think about it

May as well replace your all time favourite board mate. Re reading your earlier writes ups about it, it makes sense.

You've always got the sh-ts,bite the bullet and get one its not too late,or better instead of ordering yet another shortboard that your not going to be happy with order a Viper from SDR. KS would be proud of you.

PS I'm going to start charging for advice.

Put the S9 on the board and took it for a run this morning. Near on flat, but a few fun ones.
I honestly didn't think I'd like that fin set up, but had to give it a go.
i really like it! Like, really like it.
i wouldn't say it loosened the board up, but the board feels lighter under my feet - not sure the physics behind that. And surfing from the tail, it felt like a new board.
Didn't get a chance to try and outrun a section, and the waves weren't quite right to get any real speed out of it.
I still want some more surfs on it, but at this stage this fin setup is pretty much the top of the list.

Which seaplane do you have.
The diamond tail or the roundtail.

I got the roundtail. Its the only type of a superceded model left
More volume and wider i reckon. And i think a flatter rocker
Would have rather the diamond tail because it would handle bigger waves imo.

But surfed it last weekend in foot waves that got bigger and better as the session went on.
It been a while. Felt like i was going to nose dive it on take off. Comparing to the shortboards ive been in lately.

Pleasantly surprised. lots of glide and trim. In the steep sections i was able to carve on it. Well as much as you ask for on a 10 ft board.
Had to play with centre fin placement. More or less dialed in i think.

Worthy addition for me at sale price of $470 . Pigment tint . Double stringer. Tail chock

Ps it looks rounder than it is because you cant see the outline with the tail chock.
Pps. I acknowledge these boards piss some people off.
