Ok LL.
Time to tell the story on how it broke? Heard rumours but never the whole story.

I had it in a board cover in my ute truck back to front with bag open a bit. The front strap was a bit loose to.
Wind got in and under it.
Lifted the board its snapped on the back strap
Whole car lifted a bit too.
Lucky it didnt tear the back rack off

Plan B (plan A?) could be too sell it to Lacey and buy a more classic glider that's less temperamental...

My 10' Clearwater Hotlog is just the easiest, smoothest thing to ride... And it will handle tiny crumblers right up to pretty critical oh stuff as I used to use it for that.

I wouldn't sell the Sea Plane - didn't pay enough for it in the first place and it's picked up a few knocks and bumps along the way.

A Clearwater/SDR is the board that I'm currently saving for. They don't seem to list the HotLog anymore, but I assume the Captain's Log is the next iteration? Either way, when I stop bleeding money, and finally finish the bathroom reno, I'll be going to have a chat to SDR about a new board.

Just overcharge Lacey, he'd be happy to overpay knowing the $$$ are going to a GC local shaper, he's all about Aussie made

Took it for another spin today, either that alkali/Thomas fin has really woken the board up, or my skill level has really improved since I last gave the board a decent run a year or so ago. Gone from being my least favourite board to... well, not one I dislike. Sucks for LL, if I still didn't like it after trying some different fins, he probably could have had the board for a carton of beer. I'm gonna try the 9" IFD fin next, and keep trying to track down a S9.

One would of thought a 10 inch single would have worked has anybody tried this simple set up which has been trailed in these type of boards for 50 years?

The Alkali fin that's on there at the moment is 10.5". Works much better than I expected in terms of turning, given its large base.
could be the right fin for me on that board, 'cause I'm pretty damn happy with it - but will try others.
Lacey noted that it's not a good board for beginners, and I'm the forever beginner, so we also can't rule out that my surfing has improved in the last year or so.

Never seen one in the flesh but seem more all rounder ish than traditional log, personally I think all rounders go better as a 2+1 than singles in most conditions. Sharp edges in the back seem to suit 3 fins for me. I only really ride singles in non logs if it's small and lined up.

Took the board up to Noosa this morning to give it a run with the 10" IFD Islander fin. Also had it at Burleigh the other week when there was a bit of swell but not out of my pay grade (but borderline). Goes pretty well with the 10" IFD. I think I prefer it with the Alkali fin, but they weren't ridden in even remotely similar conditions.
I'll give it one more surf with the current fin, then try the Shapers S9.

Either way, I'm pretty happy with the board.
