Fin setups on these 11 plus boards, I've seen anything from 8 to 12 run as a single up to quad setups? What works and in what conditions? I think mine is coming with each a 8 or 10.

Mac, I ride a 6 1/2 inch Skipp Frye with GL side bites in my 11'8 which were Josh's suggested fins and they were a treat. He strongly suggested to not ride it with anything over 9 inch.
My other big boards I tend to ride as a single with a 9 inch Nat Young rake; I love that fin !
Does the Sugar Glider come with side bite slots or just a centre box ?
I cant't recall from looking at Ray's last month.....they have really pinched rails and you'll need to surf it a few times to dial it in I'd reckon.....what is Ray riding in his ? I think it was a 9 inch or thereabouts....don't go small without side bites I'd reckon however I was convinced the 11'8 would ride as a big single but it was terrible, the smaller fin and sides were way way better in every way.
The red true Ames in my Liberty Foils 11' is a beauty too - I reckon it could be the fin for your sugar glider.
...hope that helps ?

True Ammes 9.75" Greenough on the 11'er and the same in a 10" on the 12'er https://www.trueames.com/collections/single-fins-1/products/greenough-4-a-large-9-10-5
But planning on dropping the 9.75" into the 12' board and the 11'er will go to a 9-1/4" or 9", depends on what I can find in the stash.
I prefer the True Ammes Greenough fins to the Alkali ones as they have a narrower base, on the longer boards drive really isn't an issue so no need for a tonne of base. (imo)
If anyone is interested there's a mctavish 10'0 redline on gumtree for $790 looks in good nick too. Don't know anything about em but I'm sure someone here does

Good morning you big board fans, a little reading to start your day.

Thats such a load of ****....Skip Frye and Josh Hall and all those guys in California have been doing over length gliders for years....next McT will be claiming they invented the thruster and shaped all the boards Mark Richards used
I reckon you've misinterpreted the tweet. I don't read it as McTavish claiming to have invented/re-invented gliders, just that they started a Trim surf contest a couple of years ago.
I was thinking the same thing but didn't send my post and deleted it.
the concept he may have been talking about was actually the production of the boards

Yep, brand newie & very pleased so far. Locks a rail & flies along, stand on the taul & it swings around.
Really looking forward to getting it out on bigger days.

Only pic I didn't take. It does have a little bit of rocker not much, I wanted to keep it flat to maximise paddle power. Grant did a hull entry on the nose to cut through chop if it is a bit windy.
Set up with 2 + 1, with 8' flex fun with 2' side bites. You could call them training wheels! Looking forward to mixing up the fins & working out what works.
My 10'+ bundle of fun, all clean and ready for a new coat of wax.....
10'2" x 23 3/4 x 3 1/2
it's no craftsman built rocket, but it is so much fun to ride! And yes, that's SUP rail tape down the sides - the top coat was starting to peel all the way down the rails. Even got the GoPro mounts to add to the effect!

And yes, i need to pressure wash my driveway and do a touch of weeding.
There you go Mac, just for you mate ![]()
10'4 Carabine at Cronulla Point.

From my boyhood experiences at The Point I expect the helmet is to protect you from punches?

No. Lol.
No problems with fellow 'locals'. I ride shorter boards there too.
Helmet is as as a result of 2 x surfers ear ops so as to prevent a 3rd.
11 footer nearly done.

Looks good, please PM me before you sell that one on!??
Yeeee Haaaaa!
That'll take on anything. I know a few reefs and bombies over here that would be sick on. I suspect its a single - I'd like it as a 2+1.
