As the topic states 10 foot plus boards,I'm interested in them, would I own one ? I'm not convinced but have seen them ridden by some in here and others around the place. To help get this train wreak back on the tracks What conditions are they best suited for, keep in mind you have a Quiver of boards to choice from, so what makes you take it off the rack? Genuine question not a gee up.

I'd like to say small mushy gutless waves but that'd be lying; Ride 'em in whatever makes you smile.

...the faster the slide, the better the glide.

I had been undecided about buying mine...thinking I would have limited opportunities to ride it. Although I've only had afew surfs on it i am confident I could ride and enjoy it in most conditions. I spose it comes down to which board u want to ride that day.
the biggest thing was the new feel and lines and glide it gave me.
Having said that a big rolling point with afew fat sections would highlight all things great about it.
4-6 foot high tide Bells type wave would be epic.
it would also eat up 2-3 foot Tea Tree!
ill be definitely taking it down the south coast when the southerly swells start to fire up again!

what Josh Hall board was available?

This here sums it up for me ,a super talented rider making surfing look bloody boring because of what the board will not let him do

This is just me, I cannot think of anything worse than going straight . Supanimal and co enjoy it ,and this is what makes the world awesome. Enjoying stuff because you enjoy it

Hmm..I see Big sweeping cutbacks..nice bottom turns..plenty of speed glide.
I see classic LONGBOARDING on a longboard.
What's boring is watching 5 second rides at Pipe.

I have been thinking about this a little, given that I am thinking of a big board for the quiver.

Do the laws or relativism apply? I am wondering if there is much difference between someone who is 65-75kg riding a 9'1 to 9'6 board opposed to a 90 -100kg rider (i'm guessing a fair few of us!) riding a board around 11ft.

Each to their own.

But what I watched was an amazing longboarder with skills that exceed any of ours by a huge gap.

He made one cutback which was super impressive on that board. Every other one he attempts they cut the edit (due to not making it I assume) so I'm glad you enjoyed that and him going straight. Exciting stuff to watch .

If a bottom turn on a little wave excites you more than a bonga Perkins tube at pipe...well not much more really needs to be said

Check out cj surfing any board other than this and see the difference in how longboarding should be in my eyes

Anyway I'm glad you wete impressed sb

Hmmm; I think you've clearly illustrated your lack of understanding of the concept if you think both myself and others just 'go straight' mate.

Getting the nose and rail around, finding the sweet spot in the pocket and accelerating through sections are sensations you should open yourself up to and it's certainly not 'going straight'.

What boards do you ride Chrispy ? I don't think I've actually seen anything of your boards or actual surfing level on SB.

Maybe the next roadtrip you'll show us what you love about longboarding, what makes you tick and I can share the stoke of and teach you the art of 'going straight'.

1. If you've nothing good to say, say nothing.

2. If you don't like 10 foot plus boards don't read the topic and leave it to those that do.

It's a discussion, saying if you don' like it **** off is just as negative.

Not every opinion is positive, different strokes for different folks, do what you enjoy but don' expect everyone to feel the same and as this is a discussion telling people not to post their opinins and attacking them personally is negative and a sure way to continue to kill what was once a great forum.

My take is CJ is an outstanding surfer and rips on that Josh Hall board, but sadly most of us are not at that level.

The point has been proven these big boards can do a cut back floater and whatnot, but I don't believe this is the TRUE
art of riding one.No right and no wrong IMHO.

signed just my thoughts.

Careful.. You'll get a rude Pm if you disagree or post an opinion.

Anyway. Following the Pm where I have been told I never post anything useful or positive along as the personal attack I am having a rest....

This place has really changed for the worst under the influence of a few..

Now we have to show proof of what boards we own and surfing level FMD.

if I started showing photos and videos of MYSELF on the internet
my mates wouldn't talk to me

anyhow I'm a kook,,,,,,there.

im with SP the longroom was a great place once for surf stoke and mateship once
we had the occasional visit to the crease from a sweeper or shorty that we swiftly
spanked to the boundary.

my thoughts ,,,,,some of you C**** need to lighten up have a laugh stop taking yourself
serious stop thinking everything you have to say is gospel.
other thing some come in here post away about themselfs or waffle on about themselfs
then **** off.

now I'm not trying to run the show ,do what you like.
but know this ,I'm sitting here reading and laughing
