No tips - but it looked good all the same. Board looked smaller than 9'2" Those waves may not have been great, but they're better than what I am getting right now (i.e. no waves)...

This is I find the tricky part of the soloshot: setting it up so that the image is centered.

My advice is to practice setting it up on land, try different methods, etc...

Hilly, I have a soloshot 1 & imo...that is bloody good centre'ing for a video zoomed in so close. My advice would be to zoom in 1/2 to 2/3's as far to improve centreing...1/4 you in frame is generally what I aim for as the closest...none the less, vid came out good considering & looks nice n warm up there

Interesting to see that its a soloshot 2 & it does not appear to be panning down as you near the camera. They're meant to pan up/down as well...but yeah...I think you've got the cam synced pretty well perfect. Just got the camera zoomed in way too close.

Yeah, read the instructions , and stop surfing so well! Don't you know most guys don't like turning their boards! It's Karma from trying to hit (high five) your kid with the paddle. Optionally, ask your kids, they'll fix it if you don't think that was good enough. I reckon you might have to sacrifice definition in order for the auto centring/panning to respond Faster. You were centred about 60% of the time. (And what what MickPC said. ) Exmouth looks nice!! Go Broncos

Think you missed my point. I have cropped in iMovie heaps to get that footage. It was left bottom corner :( need to practise more.

Struggled to turn in that. Next session was way better but a k offshore so no vid.

Stungun is suited to bigger waves but performs well in little ones. Jimmy is a wizard

As for me you're right. Grouse board though! Still try the kids or the Soloshot website. It must come up in FAQ's . Go Cowboys!!

Ok hilly ya big boof.

Heres ya soloshot tips from the dog.

Im only using the soloshot1.(i cant comment on the vertical tilting).

Setting up the unit so that it has to do very little work is key. Less movement the better.

If the unit is having to change direction (side to side) constantly (during cutbacks etc) the footage will be jerky.

Getting subject centred????

When pairing the unit, i usually have it so that im at least 50m to 100m away from the unit down the beach. Paddle standing up and the reciever placed on top of my paddle.

I Get the camera centred on the reciever on paddle.

Then Do the pairing bull****.

Then go out n catch one wave.

Ill Return to beach to the same spot i started the pairing procedure. Stand my paddle upright n place reciever back on the paddle. Exactly where i started.

Then run up to the unit n camera n see if the camera is still centred.
As well as quickly watch on camera, the footage you just filmed.
Marking sure on how it looked during the first wave and paddling around the line up.

Dont mess with the unit.

If it needs to be adjusted i usually compensate by adjusting the camera on the unit n try not to disturb the unit.

Then repeat process.

Until its f'ing flawless.

Then ill surf till batteries of camera die.

Then go home afterwards n watch the footage.

Cropping your image just makes it look like crap.

Hope that helped....

If not badluck.....bahaha

Wise words as always thanks Doggie. May the froth be with you

I have been centering too low and close by the sounds of it. Just updated firmware as well as it is 30 knots offshore here

Soloshot3 looks good, press and go no centering bullsh1t. Got an early adopter discount

Ahhh gotcha...I do the same as dogman. Only I don't go out & catch a wave. I will find a rock, tree or signpost to stand in front about 50m away when I press the button on the transmitter. Then run left/right about 15m each side of the reference point. Then leave the transmitter in front of the reference point & check to see the cam is pointing at the reference point. If its not I will just move the camera a little bit to centre it more & repeat all this about 3 times even if the camera looked centred the first time.

Hadn't heard of the soloshot 3, will have to check that out

Which one did you get? I like the look of the one with the built in 4K camera, but they don't have any sample footage. Seems a bit odd. That 40% discount is really hard to pass on though.

One came out the Bombie on a solid day. Not pretty, saw him go end for end on one drop, it really struggled to get down the face, he ended up losing it. There is a orange and blue minion floating out around the Murion Islands if you want one. Happened after we had gone in so no one around to help. Still surprised he could not find it. Long swim in to

Hey Hilly i was having trouble with centering as well.
When you center on your object using the arrows on the soloshot there is a little bit of play in the motor left to right so when your setting up have the object in the center of the motor play if that makes sense.

Spewing for that guy. They are suited for small waves. My hypernut is great for head high but solid waves the JP 8"2 surf is the go.
