Kami I agree mate. I think there will be a lot of people looking at how that board performed and it you consider that Casso is on the heavier side of 85kg then it does say a lot for this board. The video does speak for itself doesn't it. I actually think this board could really handle double overhead so it will be interesting if Casso can get some more videos coming through. I am just chomping at the bit to have a go. At this stage I may have to have a quick holiday up north for a few days to get a go unless someone down here has one I could ride. But yes I think this marks as a real exclamation mark in supping over here. Full credit to Simon for venturing into this sort of design and pushing the envelope.

Thank you Ghost4man for your open mind i wish to have the same as your for my own...
I will open a new topic about the purpoise of front square line as Casso's board from DEEP Ocean.
My new version from my blue 6'4" in 7'28" 94 liter to my 77kg young 60'
Still struggling with DAO soft ware...but my thought about it will coming off soon perfect
Riding a 7'10 Minion aka "Fridge Door" and initially the results are more than impressed. Bali in 6 weeks so hopefully will get some pics to prove the theory that they real good in some overhead waves.
Is there anyone on the Central Coast(NSW) that has the minion that I could test ride please?
Cheers Ozzie
You are very welcome to have go on mine if you want to take a short drive down to the Northern Beaches on the weekend.
Hey Casso, any agents on south coast of nsw ? Where can we demo one of these ?

Casso I will take you up on that offer mate thankyou very much. I will bring my JP 8'2x28 Pro for you to carve on. Give me a couple of weekends to sort things out as the school holidays have pretty much taken up my time with childcare duties. Very much looking forward to this. Will be interesting how I go on the shorter board although I seemed to get used to my board very quickly. You know what really impresses me so far in how well this board goes in pretty crappy surf. The surf has been really disappointing now for some time now so I am looking forward to a board which translates well on the poorer days. Let's face it even up here on the Central Coast which is renown for good waves you get more crappy days than good ones.
Here is front and back of my brand new minion. This one is 7'10' x 29" x 4 3/8, and I am 93kgs. Will get it out when the wind eventually stops.

Very nice! What made you go for the single swallow? What litres? Mines on the build to. Almost the same dimensions as yours. What fins are you going to use? Cheers

Ill be going with shapers 9's on front, shapers CWX trailing and a nubster in the middle. 119L.
Single swallow gets rid of the sharp bits, so it has deeper channels as a result.
Cheers
Great looking board, can't wait to get mine (also 7'10) in a few weeks. I'm getting the fang tail but slightly rounded version, havn't noticed that Minion logo before.
One of the problems that I see: most pro riders are short and lightweight guys - the big brands develop boards for short people
This drives them to make short and narrow boards.
The minion-type of boards are actually much longer if they would have a normal nose: at least a foot longer (if not 1'1/2). Hence a 7'10" is actually a almost a 9footer

IMO, hopefully SUP industries development may start to make board for good waves and good surfers whatever their weight or height![]()
So are you saying that a 6'1 90 kilo guy on a 7'10 115 litre minion is going to surf it like its a 9 foot 140 litre board??

9' 140 liters can be obsolete after paddling for taking off on a 7'10 115 litre minion type of board which allow to stick closer to the curl even if you are a 6'1 90 kg guy
Hey murf, you lucky bu99er, that looks great. Mine's cooking in the hotbox as we speak... Can't wait. Should have it in 2 weeks or so.
I wanna know 2 things....if you please...
what are your dimensions? I ride a 98 litre 7'10" airborne as well, and with yours at 95 litres, the thought of potentially getting down to a seven-0 is almost too much to bear.
and what deck grip is that you've got, especially the tail pad? Ive got to let Simon know about grip next week.
cheers and let us know hoe she goes.

Hey Tang,
My dimensions are 5"10 and 78 kilos and at 95L the board floats me pretty well. Going 7 foot to start with was a shock to the system but you het used to it pretty quickly, the board is super quick and turns unreal. The only problem is getting it out through the surf, it can be a little tricky at times due to the wonderful Adelaide conditions
The deck grip is a pretty standard Balin deck grip just cut to shape (Mark T in Adelaide did mine in about 35 minutes as I am crap at putting on grip). The tail pad is a wide Balin one which I then filled the gaps with deck grip. It seems to work pretty well.
Enjoy the new toy.
Obviously I am not the only one here who thinks these boards have genuine appeal. Commendations to the shapers who are pushing the limits in length and volume with some real innovative flair in shape. ![]()
I got my new toy out in cross shore windy conditions 3ft ish. I initially took a mal out cause it was marginal for standing on a SUP, but bit the bullet in the end.
I was really surprised. Amazing maneuverability, was much more stable than I expected and because it is much smaller than other sups was pretty easy to paddle out.
I had been concerned that I went too big. However, I got the stability I wanted and was really surprised by how it turned. Goes fast too.
I don't think trying to relate it to a bigger board works. It is just different and a great way of shortening your sup by a foot or so and getting the benefits of shorter board, but with a different stability approach so you can stand on it.

Dan,
I think the idea of these boards being a longer board with the front end cut off is something of an equivocation and misses the point that there is a lot
more design that goes into them than what meets the eye.

Love the new style of boards...hopefully this video will help..
Specs please mate including your height and weight. By the way great vid mate. These boards look so fast and seem like they turn on a dime.
Hey Dan, Nice to hear your feed back. Mines half built and Im going 7'10 - 29 - 4/3 16 - 115 litres which is similar to yours but with the fang tail. Im bout 93 kilo. Whats your height? Good to hear your happy with it. Got me pumped now!
I'm 6'2". Suspect that after the weekend I am over 93kegs!!
I have to admit that I am spending a fair bit of time thinking about riding mine.
