I'm still worried about the electrolytic corrosion on these small aluminum parts in the carbon fuses. The rate of corrosion is a function of the amount of exposed carbon. No doubt NL has their carbon well sealed but I doubt lift or cab has taken care of their end as well and it only takes a few groundings to mess it up. From there the corrosion attacks whatever aluminum is exposed, if there's so much as a scratch on the fuse adapter it goes crazy in that small area . better to have a large amount of exposed aluminum to spread a thin layer of corrosion over a large area.
Yeah that's a fair point , I have repaired heaps of Axis cracked wings and all the connection points to the fuse are coated with insulation layer of fibreglass. The one time I used carbon on that area it let go pretty fast when I didn't dismantle the wing for awhile . The anodising does wear off pretty fast . I can only assume the No Limitz may have a better anodising or coating to protect this . I'll find out in a few weeks when mine turn up .
First of the No Limitz to Cabrinha are coming through , looking very sleek indeed .

I just ordered an adapter from Bigwind for my nolimitz Takauma mast to fit the Cabrinha 1000 I just got (OMG another foil to try...).
I only use twice the nolimitz on my kujira 1095, I like it, way better control and not much drag compared to the alu. My set up is super light which is always nice. The only thing is the angle (mast/fus) is a little bit different so i need to find the best shiming option.
I thought Takuma have the angle built into the fuse not the mast fitting . Send a pic of Tak /Cab fitting when you get it , keen to see how it works . Spoke Eric on the progression report and said the converter was a bit draggy but still felt good .

Interesting.... is that a custom adaptor or does No Limitz make it ?
I would love a Takuma to Fone adaptor on the NL.
But with the new Takuma changes coming later this year, the mast to fuse connection will probably change hence I am waiting on that first.

Custom adaptor (same that makes custom fus)
... after 4 week of usage, the carbon coating starts to peel at the junction between the top and bottom connection. Anyone has the same issue?

Here's a pic of a 78cm mast after about a months use, not mine but this is this particular foilers 2nd NL mast (1st broke aswell).

I had to warranty 2 due to this same peeling problem. Mine was from the first batch and my wife's from he second. Hers was much worse than mine. The dealer I purchased from sent them back and covered the shipping. aloha
I must say that I contacted NoLimitz today as I have a mast in the post & they assured me that they have made some changes to the construction & will warranty any issues.
Fingers crossed
I am not here to make a plug for Cedrus, but there are a lot of comments/concerns regarding galvanic corrosion and the architecture of aluminum inserts/mounts bonded into carbon masts. I just want to share that in over 4 years, 300+ masts sold, we have not had a single failure like this. Hybrid bonding (two different materials glued together) can be very challenging and expensive, but when done properly, the strength of the joint exceeds the base materials/substrate. It is important to me that these failures not be interpreted as representative problems of similarly designed products.
As an aivid foil tinkerer (been building and tinkering with foils for 7 years now) i'd like to thank NL for all this fantastic material to work with! Debonded inserts make for perfect project masts!
Any one know for the given no limitz lengths where the measurement is taken from? Is it from the very bottom to the very top of the mast or just the black carbon fiber part of the mast or something else? Just trying to gauge the similarity of length to my current masts. Thanks!
For my Cabrhina set ups . My 85cm is 85cm from bottom of the base plate to the end of the carbon , then plus 30mm for the fuse insert which means it measures 85cm from the board to the top of my fuse . So I would call this a true 85cm mast. Overall it measures 88cm from the board to the top of the Ali fuse connection.
My 78cm however measures 77cm from the board to the end of the carbon , so it's actually shorter than what's printed on the mast , I actually don't mind , I wish I got a 75 it's a bit long for my shallow breaks. Overall it measures 80cm from the board to the top of the ali fuse connection.
I keep hearing endless reports of NL masts breaking. Even a local shop here in AU had to get many replaced under warranty.
Even a 60Kg rider managed to break his.
Sounds like NL needs to go back to the drawing board. Stop jumping onto the koolaid ![]()
I have flogged my 78 & 85 to death and had some pretty heavy duty bottom strikes winging on the 85 , both are fine. I'm 90kg ATM . The only issue I had was I left my short mast connected to my Cab fuse for 10 days and got some Galvanic reaction .I pull it off now after every session and all good. Plenty of guys around my local have them , we are all latest batch and zero issues. There would be 100 + hours combined on all these mast and some seriously skilled riders laying the foil over taking it to its limits. Not saying they haven't broken but they seem to have fixed the problem .

Do any retailers in AUS sell them? I've searched but nothing came up
Try,
Unhooked water sports or
Amos Shapes.

So, they are pretty stiff? Good for heavier guys?

I've heard of 9 or 10 personally. Pretty hard to see how folks think that's OK.

No they aren't
I'm 90+Kg and surfing with a big wing(HA) in current was a no go. OK for winging though.
Well I'm 90kg ATM and mine are rock solid, this is today in a severe low-pressure wind event . Look at this video the mast is fully loaded and still hanging strong.
I think its production issues on some of the masts causing failure. If i had to guess its contamination causing a poor bond.
I got hold of 2 masts that had pulled out and potted one in a lift connection and its been a great upgrade!
On the mast i got ahold of the insert had pulled. NL even was planning for it with a little piece of dyneema in there to catch the insert when it pulls out so the wings aren't lost.
Also on the mast i have most of the the clear coat paint gave loose with barely any effort. The logo area held on tight though, its like they prepped the logo area for paint. applied the logo, then realized they couldn't prep the rest of the mast without ****ing up the logo.
