Pff I have been waiting for the regular XL a long time and now there is a high aspect in the pipeline???
The xl wing presented on this thread is already quite high aspect? looking at it next to the large it looks quite a bit more high aspect.
I guess they are working on new stuff
I have just talked to a local dealer that said they should have the xl wings possibly at the end of September but almost definitely in the October shipment.
This foiling game is as addictive as crack and probably costs a similar amount to maintain the habit!! ![]()

For young sports such as foiling and Wing(-ing ? ), there will always a new generation in the pipeline.

Yes but if products are announced and then stay in the pipeline for too long I start looking elsewhere for an XL wing.
My daughter is using the Neil Pryde M and L wing now she doesn't need XL but I don't have time nor patience to wait and switched brand
Ok so I have been to my local dealer and whilst they couldn't find an exact price for the 75 carbon mast on its own from what I can tell they are going to be quite pricey and a bit more than I am looking to spend.
I can get the 70cm ali mast but I am wondering if it's really worth it just for an extra 5cm ? I really feel like 75cm will be the ideal length for sup and kiting, I could get the 85cm windsurfing mast and cut it down and get it machined etc but I don't know if that would work?
Let me know what you think
Yes it does make a difference that bit extra . Helps with pumping , takeoffs carving and hugely on the wingding. Once you get used to the extra length you really notice it when you back shorter. I'd get the 85 and cut it back , cheapest and most simplest process. I've ridden the 75 carbon , beautifully built and 500grams lighter but it's still not as stiff as the Ali mast. After testing it for months and putting the Ali back on there is something about the wider cord of the Ali mast that feels really good , it just seems to give more flow . I sealed it up my Ali masts with Sikaflex so no more leaks. I also ordered the Ali 85cm which I got delivered from Windsurfing Perth to my house in Qld for $235 , pretty amazing , I have left that full length for the wingding best thing I've done making it so much easier , I barely breach now but it's a long way down if you do.
Re cutting the mast , just cut the fuse end and just retap the holes with a M8 tap , really simple process . Just put the tap in a battery drill with some lube and go very easy , couple turns forward then reverse the drill , just do that a few times until it goes all the way in . Clean the swarf (filings) off when you get half way. You can also use a shifter of the actual proper tap tool Handel but you really don't need to buy it , if you don't have one.
So carbon mast is nice, but not really worth the extra expense, I'm thinking Axis over Armstrong for my next foil ?Any downside to Axis ?
Neilpryde has got an 80cm Glide Aluminium mast as shown on the Windsurfing Perth site. Sounds like the go for me when I order.
Sounds like a 65cm is too short for a Wind Wing? Is it due to wind chop & wind swell?
Kobo :- Can't go wrong with Axis or Armstrong. The Armstrong really are beautifully built . Axis really is leading the charge though with new wing designs . From conception to market no one can keep up with them . The rest of build is bomb as well . New Carbon mast & light weight fuse in the way as well.
Seajuice:- the 65 is fine for the wingding learning but a longer mast is much better in the ocean or really choppy conditions.
Thanks Piros, I'm starting to lean towards Axis now as I can get more bang for my bucks as well.Thinking 750 wing for good turning /general surfing, and the 900 for smaller waves and pumping ,both with ultra short fuse and 400 tail.Do you think this would be a good choice for me ?
Only one question left ......Would those choices of axis wings provide a balanced ride for my weight, I don't like heavy front foot pressure riding ,I understand The Armstrong is nicely balanced , good for steeper takeoffs and speed as is my 76 infinity wing in the A position which I like.
Cheers Kobo
Yeah 750 & 900 perfect choice with short fuse & 400 rear. The dynamics of the Axis isn't so lifty compared to other wings which means less front foot pressure you just need to keep the foil moving through turns and slight pump.

I have the standard fuse and am waiting for the lighter fuses to become available, should I get a short or an ultrashort fuse?
And I have the 82 , 920 and 1020 , our usergroup is between 130-190 lbs and we supfoil(wave and downwind), pronefoil and wingfoil
should we get the 750 and 900 or 750 and 1000?
I hope the carbon mast will be stiff and not too expensive....
Thanks for the info piros, I think cutting a 80cm windfoil mast down to 75 will be the go, seems like it should be fairly easy to do.
Alot of the good guys around here are on the 75cm masts it seems like a good do it all mast length
Any updates on the new wings? I am going to get an xl wing soon and would love to hear some feedback. Also how is the carbon mast going?
You will be happy to know that we will have stock of the new 2020 Neil Pryde Glide Wings in the new Medium Slim and XL sizes late next week.

Hi All -
I've been tracking this thread since June, waiting for updates. Earlier this year, I purchased a new surf glide foil set, hoping to get the XL wing when it finally comes out. While the XL wing is listed on NP's website for a while now, It doesn't look like its actually available for purchase (confirmed by NP when I contacted them), and it appears like production has been delayed a few times now.
Piros / SC boardsports - as distributes/resllers of NP, do you have any better insight on when the XL wing will be available?
side question: my objective is wing foiling. winds where i live are 10-15 knots, so the 1600 sqcm of the large makes learning a lot harder. Any suggestions on what to do in the meanwhile?
should i ditch the entire setup and re-invest in another manufacturer that has a wider set of wing options and more commitment to their foil lineup?
Your best bet is to call the boys at Sunshine Coast Board sports , I know they have limited stock of the Slims but not sure on the XL . These guys have direct contact to the NP factory.

So are people calling the XL NP for wing dinging? Or large size still okay for the task (80kg, 128l 6'10 sup...initially). After getting finance committee approval for wing ding, I think I'd struggle to get approval for another foil wing....
Side note: a source told me NP was ceasing its foil operation/production..... unknown legitimacy of this intel....
Slowness to market is making me a little gun shy. I don't know of anyone in the US that has ever had the medium slim in stock.

I've got the XL but only use the large now on the wingding , the XL helped in my first couple of sessions but was pretty slow compared to the large . Now I have my technique together I get up just as easy on the large plus it's just a better all round wing for wingdinging.
After a long wait I have finally got myself a NP xl wing. It looks great I can't wait to try it!! Will be testing it out in the Margaret river region on Monday if the waves are actually small enough (probably not).
Feedback/review coming soon!!

This is what I'm reading everywhere it seems. The XL's great for learning at extremely low speeds. But then it seems to get old as they are slower everywhere and everyone moves on to smaller wings with higher top speeds and better turning in short order. (not talking NP specifically, XL's in general)
True or False? I have the NP Lg new in my garage and no plans (at this time) for an XL.
Also seeing the same in boards. Recommendations for huge (comparatively) volume boards to learn on, but then as soon as you are "ok" everyone wants smaller smaller, smaller. ????
I am lake every weekend june/sept and have an elevated reservoir 20 minutes from my house to use once or twice a week. I WILL have plenty of hours of learnign time. And a jetski to learn on at the lake first before trying to wingding.
Any reason to not get a 130L much smaller board (8-9') that I really want? (knowing it will be a steeper learning curve)
I"m 90kg>

90kg 130L be fine.
8-9? Is this how long the board is? If so then that's way to long.
The bigger wings are important depending on what you want out of them, if just for the surf then yeah forget them but if for DW or wing dinging then yes they still have a good purpose.

Do you reckon the XL will be useful for wing foiling on less windy days? we get a lot of days here in the 8-12 knot range.
