Can one thrust module be used on multiple boards, or is it too integrated for that? For example, could I buy a wing board and a prone board and move the jet from one to the other, or would both boards need to be boosted? I would imagine that would save a lot of cost for someone with multiple boards.
Hey Velocicraptor
Absolutely both the AMP Jet and AMP mast is compatible with every AMP Board. So you can absolutely buy multiple boards and use the one cartridge. Same as the Launch Pad that controls the system that can be installed from board to board. We have work really hard to think about the ecosystem so we can maintain compatibility well into the future.
Cheers, Chris
Hi Chris,
I have 3 questions about the AMP Jet.
Can you use any mast foil on the board?
If you touch down at the end of a wave can you reactivate the jet to taxi back out without have to go prone again?
Is the screen easy to read in daylight ?
I am presbyopic (older eyes) & need 2+ readers
Donno bout being that far out on a 4"2. Long paddle if you run out of battery or malfunction? How bullet proof is the whole system with all the sensors ect.
Ha yes. Like everything we endeavour to make the system super reliable but you should always be able to get back to the shore under you own steam if anything goes wrong. Have done it once already with an early proto. Yes I slept well that night!
Do you have a projected launch date when they will be available for order/supply?

Hey Bellbrae
Do you actually live in Bellbrae?? I use to live in JUC.
Yes you can use whatever foil and mast you like.
No at the end of a wave you either pump back out or paddle back out. If you choose to paddle, we have paddle assist which lets you paddle as fast or faster than a Mal with ease.
The screen is very good. You don't have to refer to it much unless you want some info there and then about the last wave you have ridden or you want to change settings. I pretty much never change setting. the system is super smart and takes care of almost everything. As for wave stats you can look at all of those after your session on your phone ;-)
I understand it can hard to say due to supply constraints or it may be kept under wraps on purpose but can we get a ballpark timeline of when AMP gear is expected to release ? Are we talking couple of weeks/months ? End of year ? Early next year ?
Also is a distribution network in Europe going to be ready for release ? Or will it be like FD where you mostly have to import from down under ?

Good work & I look forward to your products' succesful release

When we launch it will be world wide. We have offices in Europe and America and a great distribution network. I can't give a date sorry at this stage but I can tell you it will be before next year but it wont be next week. Hopefully somewhere in between ;-)
So when do you think this will be ready? Looks so sick, but @activechris said this year - but we are December 2024 now and my Christmas tree is looking very empty

I forget where but I read they're having production problems with the boards causing the delay.

Sorry guys. Yes the original plan was to be in market this year. Unfortunately we have had several production QC issues hit us (better now than once launched) And some delays with the batteries which have a huge amount of tech in them.
Chris.
hear me out. Without a remote control for the Amp Mast you will miss the mark. I'm super excited for this product. I'm an avid Foil Driver but I need more range to get out to epic spots and ride. I use my remote, specifically throttle control constantly, even on the wave During pod dips or to stay with the wave if its out running me. I would never give up dynamic throttle control. The board panel seems very innovative but so many of us are already on FD and used to this feature. Please consider this.

Hey Whitebelt
We are still testing and exploring many options with the AMPMast. It was never going to be a one size fits all so the rider will be able to choose how they want to control the AMPMast. We have 3 pretty solid options at the moment and yes one of them is the Flite remote that we use for the efoil that is small, light and very reliable with great trigger response ;-)
Cheers, Chris

Can you just release the F'ing foils! This footage is amazing, and yeah I know it's a lot the rider, but I'm signed up! It's like you took the way I could ride foils in 2021 (in the pocket) but have since given up for glide/pump, and now showing I can have both!

Hah I too couldn't care less about any of the powered gear but intrigued if these are magical foils or more magical rider/marketing. Let's get them out and some non influencer normies on them.
Perfect wave for foiling, amazing rider and edited footage. Yep let's get some gumbies on them. Happy to oblige ![]()

There is much less tech in a paddle, just saying.... ![]()
Only joking Chris keep the development going, I might be convinced to try something like this when I get old...er.
Hey Legends!
Yes we are definitely delayed and had some setbacks an I apologise for that. We are releasing a whole brand between Masts, boards, wings, stabs, Assist etcs. We have had some QC issues (bad when in production, awesome to find out before production) and also due to the battery Tech have had delays there too. But we are pretty much at the end of that now as we move the final pieces of the puzzle into production. If we jumped the gun and had lots of warranty issues everyone will remember that. But no one will remember that we delayed the launch once we are in market. I can tell you no one is a frustrated as we are as we are dying to get this out there. On the flip side it has allowed us to do some extra testing and refining which has been well worth it. Will start gathering some more footage of mere mortals and post. I am a good example as I am older and always ride a 850 - 900 and above as I struggle to pump anything smaller for any distance. Now all I ride is the 707 and can pump that better that most wings I have ridden which is pretty crazy at an AR of 8.5. Can't wait to ride the 606 ;-)
Here is a quick link of a trip we did to Fiji with everyday foilers. Some of them hadn't been foiling for very long.

Yeah Chris I've got my eyes on that 707 it looks sick
I've been chatting to Adam about it.
Yep it ticks every single box that I need in the surf and winging. But hey I did write the design brief ![]()
Everything you want to know about FLITELab* is here: and I'm stoked for you guys to tune in and get your feed back, I was blown away as a FliteLab* dealer and when I got the inside scoop!
In this exclusive episode, we sit down with Chris Reynolds, Founder and Senior Product Manager of FLITELab*, to dive deep into the making of the AMP board-Flite's new high-performance foil assist system that's shaking up the scene.
Chris walks us through the development journey, the engineering challenges, and the high standards the team held themselves to in order to deliver a product that's not just innovative, but one that performs where it matters most: on the water.
From prototype to production, we get the full scoop on how the AMP came to life-and why it's such a big step forward for surf-focused foil assist systems.
:high_voltage: Get ready to geek out.
You heard it first, right here on the X-Foils Podcast.
The Jet is controlled by the launchpad that sits in the front of the board. A small screen with buttons that surround it with plenty of sensors inside to monitor everything. There is several modes.
Paddle assist : a low power mode that helps you paddle out, around and duck dive.
Instant boost : hit the button and the computer takes care of the rest with things like acceleration, amount of thrust and max speed until you pop up on foil then it turns it self off. It will also turn off if you don't make it to your feet or crash.
Then auto pilot : which is work in progress but coming along really well. It knows when you are paddling for a wave and turns the boost on for you then also does the rest.
Then once up on foil it has the most advance tracking systems that track more about you ride that you could imagine. Not going to spill all the beans but you won't be disappointed.
damn that sounds unreal - controller side of things that is.
Be interesting to see what the price point comes in at relative to FD and the Tow boogie.
Chris . i assume the amp jet will be compatabke with other brands foils. Some thought going into mast track length to accomodate this capability ?
