.....As long as you use mold release, epoxy resin or metal tape ! ??
As the importer, every 1.5 GoFoil you see in Australia I brought in. I can honestly say no one has come to me direct or through a shop saying their wing is loose on a 1.5 set up.. this is the first one I have heard of.. my RS1150 slides on tight with no tap needed. But not loose. Alex has made the clip attached as of course over time with tens of thousands sold there may be some that go loose.
@kobo if the wing is loose is it fully seating? I had a NL where the socket on the wing was a little long and the end of the wing socket was making contact with the flange on the fuse before it was fully seated. 1mm shaved off with the sander until it was seating with a hair of a gap and it seated fine.
One of the nicest aspect of GF is the fact that if slop should develop it's an easy fix.
I went through this with my Gong setup and with a 180 I smashed into a reef. All the others are tight out of the box.
As for GF being high maintenance, they could be more low maintenance.
Bit of an old conversation wings getting loose and the different fixes hence, the fix video. All the brands that use this type of connection suffer from it and Go foil is in that boat.Armstrong added a barrel bolt to its setup to try and solve it and I guess only time will tell if that is successful. Others like Axis and Naish don't seem to have any issues, and Uni,Lift have a different solution which solves it.
My GTS1400 fits well. Not so the RS1000, after 2 uses it was loose. I used spray acrylic lacquer like I did on Armstrong, but it only made a slight difference, so I added some ali tape which seems to have done the trick. When that wears out I will paint epoxy inside the wing.

What's all the black carbon mat on the sides Hilly ? is that part of the wing
Yes
All brands have some issues. I see it as less screws less problems & weak points.
Totally concur it was an easy fix. First world problem "my foil moves a bit" oh dear petal. Riding I did not notice at all still felt awesome. very happy with the ride ![]()

Misunderstood, the black on outside is the cover.
All ordered
- going RS1150 with 83 mast and FTS tail, will get the GT1400 once I sell my Armie kit.
@Hilly, was your FG board not suitable with GF? If not, I have to sell mine too ![]()

Try shimming the rear! Less tail down means mast forward also means more speed!

It worked fine, slammed to the back of the fin box however the Kalama was better. Will be interested in how the 1150 goes.

Thanks Jason for the pic ![]()
You cannot shim the FTS tail.

Looks like a nice ride and good swell!
Am very jealous, nothing like that in Sydney...![]()

That is the reform on the inside, better out the back but impossible to sit on a board and take pics without getting cleaned up ![]()

Let's not confuse some straight up!! Pretty hard to shim the FT tails. ![]()

It'd be best to start a new thread to discuss waves and winging in Sydney (NSW)...
Perth looks like winging heaven for waves + wind.
Any issues with the man in the grey suit?

Waves perth .. Yeh nah.
So, two sessions in on RS1150/FTS/32.5 (100kg+) and about 3 hours on foil winging (gusty 17-22knots) in small harbour chop 1-2 ft.
I was on my FG75L board mast right at the back.
GF mast is nice and stiff, thin too.
Day 1 was interesting learning the lift on takeoff, but not an issue once you get use to it. I didn't find it front foot heavy either. Speed is good, turning is nice and predicable, and throwing the tips out is a non- issue.
Day 2, starting is a lot easier, great low end, lots of time on foil after gybing. Was fun carving chop more aggressively, didn't out run the wind swell, just did what I asked of it and I didn't realise how much I breach the tips carving or maybe I just don't care now as I don't fall off anymore. Could also be coming from an A+ 85cm mast compared with the 82cm GF mast. When you watch the foil breach you can see the ventilation on the steps but that's it.
No slower than the HA1125, can't say that it's faster either, but you don't worry about making carving turns or pointy wing tips either for that matter.
I think I made the right choice choosing the RS1150 over the RS1000 as mostly in harbour chop, but I'd like to ride both back-to-back to see what the difference is. I chose the RS1150 as I thought it's be faster as a higher aspect ratio, but that may be offset by the smaller wingspan on the RS1000.
No regrets changing, thanks for starting this thread @hilly
Have sold all armie gear apart from HS232V2 and FG75L.
Need to get a board to suit the foil now.

Glad you are happy with the gear. Agree with all the positive point's raised. Will add the single screw to change wings is awesome ![]()

Stoked to hear that review!
Works very well

I notice you have the gofoil on the Armstrong board - do they work well together? I ask as a gofoil user considering an Armstrong board ????
The board worked well with the mast slammed right to the back. However, my Kalama Performance felt better so I use that.

I'm using the RS1000 on a 60L Armstrong also towards the back of the box. Goes great.

Awesome - thanks hilly & robbo! Hey Robbo, I'm 75kg and leaning towards the 60L (moving from an 80L) - would this size be a good everyday and only board?
