Assume you have seen this prior post - seems like a few varied solutions - trust one would work?

This is tainted with some residue from production. It's a chemical taste, not just something to kill with bleach.
I'm going to kick something in to see if anyone can tell me what I can do about it.
2 weeks ago I fitted the new Plastimo flexible tank in my boat in place of the old one. I replaced all the hose with drinking hose and fitted a deck filler at the top of the 38mm filler pipe. All in all it was a nice job, and I was surprised because I normally f**k things up the first time I do them.
Until I drank a cup of tea with the water. The Plastimo tank has badly tainted the water.
I've been through all the cruisers forum posts etc. Didn't like any of the answers.
Is there something I can do to rescue what was quite a neat solution?
That sucks and I feel your pain. It's a bummer. BUT tainted water by a tank is usually an easy fix with a twin filter. First reasonably fine but the 2nd a .5 micron carbon cartridge should do the trick. I've fitted a few for customers and haven't had a complaint yet. Cost a few hundred fun tickets though.
Thanks, I like the idea of a filter.
Can I run a filter with a manual pump or do I need an electric pump?

You could but bit of a pain and if manual pump is at the tap it'll put strain on the tap/pump fittings.
Started to remove layers of paint from my hull looking for advice on easiest way to do it tried 2 different sanders a heat gun and paint stripper I think paint stripper is easiest found lots of old patched up blisters under all that paint .Will cost them with resin and fairing at Manly rqys hard stand if you want a laugh or really bored

Ferrari red. It'll go faster now ![]()
spray the mast black, it'll take weight out of it.

Pure genius. I shall.
Niiiiice. It's a strange feeling going to a cat again after years on a mono, sheeting in going downwind doesn't feel right but also feels so good.
? + Foils ?
Why? Last I heard, even in the A Class there was a drift away from foilers back to non-foiling classics. Fitting foils onto a Nacra would cost far more than buying an A designed for foiling and it would go lots slower and be far harder to sail. In fact a foiling Nacra is probably normally going to be slower than the same boat in stock form - foils create lots of drag unless you are actually foiling, and unless you have a very low-drag rig and a very efficient boat you'll only be foiling downwind when there's a good breeze.
I have had a pactor modem sitting in the cupboard for a couple of years. I finally got it sorted and got my first weatherfax via HF radio on the laptop from VMC Charleville this morning.
Not today because I'm snoozing in the cockpit at Pearl Bay, yesterday I was sailing here from Yepoon but Thursday and Friday I had a list of jobs to do in the marina.
My AGM house bank was dying under the load of living aboard so I had to source and install a new bank. Battery World at Rockhampton were great, they delivered to the marina, even helped me lug them to the boat and took the old ones away. I went with some FLA's due to availability mainly but the price was nice to. I may do a lithium upgrade later.
Toilet was slowly backfilling, there is no syphon loop on the discharge side so only the joker valve was holding back water from syphoning and it was letting water through slowly and filling the bowl. Seems a bit fraut, anyway best I could do with limited spare was install a see cockpit next to the toilet that needs to be opened to flush then closed again. There is a sea cock already at the skin fitting but it's in a locker in the engine room and getting access to it is inconvenient and potentially hazardous at sea.
Outboard wouldn't select gear the day before, I had to row back to the boat from the beach. Was an easy fix, the shear pin on the prop sheared. I had a spare onboard.
I also change the carbon filter on the watermaker and the fuel filter on the main engine and check oil levels on both main engine and genset.
Pheww was a busy day. Meanwhile my partner reprovisioned with a trip into town. Plus the usual laundry and fill water tanks and refuel etc. Coming in from anchor sucks.
Nice problems to have, doing what you're doing, half your luck. A gravity tank for your black water also acts as an anti siphon loop & no need for a pump to empty at sea, worth a thought ?
Not today rather last ~9 months. Finished off the lifelines and new pushpits and stanchions, straightened pulpit re-installed - it is now 40mm further aft - so the upper rail fwd flattened pulpit bow is not overhanging the yacht's bow so much and not asking for it or one of the fwd legs to be smashed. New ice box lid. 2 new cabinets port and stbd. Cleared off a lot of clutter and equipment back into the shed. Still a bit to go - finish off electrics, build enclosed head for porta potti, transom boarding step, interior new paint/varnish, re-thread kite halyard and tlift, finish off asymm kite prodder securing system to port foredeck. All tasks took at least 3 times longer than planned, some 5. Most were on budget....parts in shed......obviously labour hours not included.

Well Done - Almost There !
Also, scale of jobs doable + not intimidating = discouragement.
See Bays of Boats abandoned, !
But, yesterday did see Barge/Excavator,on the Lake, retrieve forgotten yacht, for recycling,- at whose expense ?
Not what I did to my boat this pic is what my boat did to me.

Owwww!
Hopefully it was low down Cammd, I think I'd s**t myself if that happened up near the top!

Second one up off the deck, was just zipping up the stack pack so the one that failed gets used a lot, I fell about 1mtr. I wouldn't go higher without a harness or bosun chair as I don't trust them. I think I will replace them all now as the sun and age must have degraded them.
Made our way back to Airlie now, going to have togo ashore tomorrow to get some water proof dressings.....and a burger.
Dodger/sprayhood.
The 28 foot ketch next to me was retired and I scrounged the dodger.
It fits surprisingly well.
Still got a bit of fitting to do but it should keep me a little warmer as winter approaches.
