Fitted my new start battery, installed one more deep cycle battery to the house bank, upgraded the wires to my switchpanel to allow for my new tiller pilot. Installed fuel gauge, finished my pilot birth. Only rigging left. Can't wait to post in " where did you go today" getting closer.

Today I had her hauled out for the first time in maybe 5-7 years. Not exactly sure how long cause the previous owner hadnt left the mooring in a while. Before that I dont think the anti-fouling was regularly redone. I think they just scraped the hull as it was easy enough to beach the cat and walk along side it.

Some areas may need to be re-primed depending on the stability of the original anti-fouling. Should come up nicely and go a little faster :) .

Also the transducers might start working again, the dagger boards might move up AND down, and they will also fit the skin fittings for the new toilet, and fix a few other things I would prefer them to do.

Over the last couple of days, finished the rigging ( what idiot decided that triatics were a great idea) and fitted the tiller pilot

De-moulded boat interior with vinegar in lightly moulded areas and Concrobium in heavy mould areas (don't want to touch - chain locker + lazarette)

Painted v-berth in antimould paint.

Drilled some breather holes in enclosed timber interior ie: head and cupboards

Jerry-rigged a 12v pc fan to vent to move air around

How much airflow (or hole size/space) suggest for cupboards/head to discourage mould??

Any suggestions in fixing a clogged sink (very thin pipe on its own seacock)??

I turned two of the cabin top vents to face forward and it now gives a good breeze through the boat. We always leave the cupboards open when we leave.

My sink tube is clear plastic but the blockage tends to be at the seacock. I use a piece of coat hanger wire VERY GENTLY.

That's what I was googling last night for my yacht. Yours is on a endless line harken furler set up Jode5? I was looking for the subber ring type cruising Shute but could consider a furler style set up.

Buy a sink plunger with a small handle, works like a charm

Yesterday I spent nearly 3 hours scrubbing down the boat. Lots of grime in the deck mouldings that took a stiff brush to shift. I used Cabot's decking cleaner from Bunnings. Has a little less than 10% of oxalic acid. I carted out 10 litres of warm fresh water and rinsed off with salt water. Oxalic acid definitely works better with warm water and reasonable air temperatures.
Vessel ahead of mine is a concrete cruiser I have known for 30 years or so. Most people think it's fibreglass.

Do you think this product would be ok to use on the fiberglass cabin floor?
Wife has scrubbed it but still looks dirty.

Certainly would. Another product would be "Metal Gleam". It's a mixture of acids that makes gelcoat like new. Cabot's deck cleaner is easier to come by. Have your wife use warm water with the mix and scrub with either a soft broom or scrubbing brush. Rinse off and pump the stuff over the side and clean the bilge at the same time.

if you do use Deck cleaner, which as Ramona said is basically Oxalic Acid, just make sure you've got specs on.

Ramona, not wanting to pee in your bilge, but any issue up your way with using something like Oxalic then 'pumping it out the side?"'

Where my mooring is, we have Ramsar wetlands alongside, and if we did something along those lines, well i'd be in all sorts of you know what. Even giving the boat a scrub with common detergent is boarderline here', and that's despite the fact we also have an Oil refinery and toxic chemical storage facility dumping' ?ooling water' into the bay 24/7.

Slipped the boat today after 2 years. All looks good except where we have been pushing through the mud to get to our birth and the Propspeed is bugged. Have had to send the prop to Sydney for repitching. Antifouling and polishing over the next couple of days and hope to be back in the water Friday if our prop is back.
The Sea Breeze flag is flying even though you can't see it very well. ( second flag from the top)

Really pissed of with Australia Post. Every person involved in getting my prop off, getting it to Sydney and repitching it have pulled out all stakes to make it happen so we can get the boat back in the water on Friday except Australia Post. Paid $140.00 for priority over night post. It left Sydney Tuesday afternoon and the tracking this afternoon says it is still in NSW somewhere. Now going to cost me another $610.00 to be on the hard till they can drop us back in the water next Tuesday morning. I like the boat to be lifted last thing in afternoon and hung in the slings overnight so we can antifouling under the keel and all the support marks, then drop in the drink first thing in the morning, hence the Tuesday drop. Could have flown to Sydney, have the prop repitched and flown home cheaper and quicker.

Bummer

Two concrete cruisers here. Both of them look like they are fibreglass. The smaller one in the photo above I have known since the early eighties. I wish I had bought it a few years ago when it was cheap. Needed a new motor and now has a new one so now worth an extra 22 grand!
