I am leaving Seabreeze after 10 or so years of enjoyable banter on all matters sailing. I think I have been able to contribute something and have learnt a lot.
The banter is no longer about sailing and has become a forum for pushing agendas. Not just the Greta Thunberg rubbish but it has raised the issue to the top.
I have been guilty of it too, political and religious issues do raise passions. An old Navy saying, leave politics and religion outside the Mess comes to mind.
Maybe I'm just over it, like my good mates Havefun and DrRog who I met on here and went to Lord Howe with. They left some years ago.
Get back to sailing guys and girls.
Leave the Armageddon climate religion stuff to another forum. It is worth discussing but not here.
Cheers.
Might be his last post but it is a post non sailing related! A bit ironic perhaps. Also seems to push his own political agenda as in "GretaThurberg RUBBISH" and " Armageddon climate religion stuff".
I happen to believe that climate change issues and the young generation voices that bring these to the forefront of debate are a valid sailing related topic.
All you grumpy old right wing intolerant males are more than welcome to pull your collective heads in.
Grumpy? Maybe
Old? Yes
Right Wing? Yes
Intolerant- NO
The problem with modern media is it is driving people into isolated silos, and making them reject opinions from outside their silo. The so-called "echo chamber " effect.
On a site like this it is great to get competing ideas, but please, stick to sailing issues. And discuss the issue, not the person.
