Looks wrong with the gaff rig. Should be cat rigged. Here is a bigger version at Rhode Island.

I agree does look a little odd with the gaff rig. Possibly a compromise to get under the bridges just down river.

For this yacht does anyone know;

1 Designer - Peterson designed the Blazer 23 but this 31 I am not sure if he did or the builder Glass Yachts Qld designed it "in house"
2 How many were built
3 Any issues with hull or rig - this one has a new 15hp outboatd plus 10hp saildrive so the latter must have been inadequate
4 I would question the 3t displacement - suggest somewhere closer to 2t would be closer
5 The draft with centreboard raised would not be 0.6m as it has the bulb depth as well as hull depth - so around 1m probably

Video of one on Lake Mac a while back

One sails out of RYCV (50 / 50) and is in Div1. Has beaten Northshore 38s on scratch in some races - albeit they are a tad tippy.

thanks in advance.

There was one in Tasmania for quite a while, I seem to recall it did the 3 Peaks race more than once, though the Three Peaks web site doesn't seem to be operating these days to check.

Thanks for responses, sorry I missed the designer in the advert. I see Rob retired in 2017 after 30yrs as a sailmaker - good effort.

Well known classic. Interesting how the load is shared for the chainplates.

I wouldn't want to have rowed out to that one and discover I had left the keys in the car.

Local yacht. Built in Britain. This boat has circumnavigated. Nice interior. Topsides are good but the cabin top needs finishing. The deck is a mess. Some rot under the cockpit but an easy repair. Wooden mast and gal rigging. Good mooring that is only a couple of years old.

Well, that went faster than I expected. I guess I will run into the new owner today or very soon. Someone had a real win.

RM Yachts are interesting sail boats (there you go Loosechange :).Epoxy impregnated ply construction hulls with epoxy sheathing. Light, stiff and strong. I like the concept, ply allows for big gains in stiffness for performance boats it seems.
Construction vid:

Review here are of one model:

Yes, I have liked the RM boats and French boats in general for a long time now, I find nothing wrong with ply or timber boats and in fact possibly prefer it to a lot of other material choices. But like all things it has to be designed for the chosen material and built accordingly.
It is a bit erroneous to call it epoxy impregnated ply construction because when using ply, saturation can only be achieved to the first glue line of the first veneer and bearing in mind that some first veneers can be as thin as 1.5mm that is not a lot of saturation.

Agree, once water is into end grain of ply, its hard to chase out , old days coach wood ply was the best I believe

That's being a bit melodramatic.
Think of the stove as an inducement to let your prowess shine by putting in place what you think is more suitable.
As for the saildrive, again all that need be done is put a decent folder on it, job done.
Now, you were saying?

It's actually a very good ad. Those stoves were supposed to be illegal but they are still for sale everywhere. Saildrives are OK, they make you slip the boat more often. I like the interior fit out and layout. Has a tiller and an anchor locker. Good deck layout except for the dodger which ruins the ability to use the reefing winches. The mainsheet traveler needs to be across the cockpit so a decent purchase can be made for the mainsail.

The stoves were withdrawn from sale and they were later allowed to be placed on sale again so they are not illegal. The problem that got these stoves a bad rap was that people would put oversize pots and pans on them thereby allowing the gas cartridge to become overheated to the point of rupture. The stove in this boat has inadequate ventilation around it so could overheat the cartridge, plus I note it is a brand new looking stove that doesn't appear to have been used.

I don't know the history of this one, there were a few EC31s that were a regular sight on the Derwent over the years, but I don't recall this one... still, I've always liked the look of them!
