What you don't want to see on the south NSW coast.
On the way and south of Ulladulla, but weather on Tuesday morning in the Strait will determine whether Jimmi makes Friday in Hobart.

Last minute work issues as I am the boss, so Mr Jimmi is doing this leg by himself.
So unless he uses the sat phone he will out of range for a bit now.
Pop up on Wednesday night hopefully.
Cheers

Hopefully the northern tip of flinders tonight.
Jimmy should start coming up tomorrow morning with luck

Just checked the observations for the Strait so I hope he has got far enough south as the Hogan island and Kingfish have 40s from the east in the gusts while Swan island and Eddystone are much more moderate.
It was always a race to get south of 39 S by early this morning as Clouds was right on the money.
Be a wet old ride.

Well if it makes you feel any better Lydia, the Surf to City forecast looks tragic, so you'll not be missing much at home!

Hey Lydia

Congratulations on the lovely restoration.

The Jimmi you mention??? It's not Jimmi (once was a magician) from RQ, is it????

I would assume so Selkie, there can be only one Jimmi the magician!
The poor bastard, a couple of years ago he delivered a Syd 38 to Hammo solo. He hadn't got out of the bay when the electronics all went. Back to Manly where they sorted out the issue, I think from memory he may have even gone back twice?
He left again and was behind us by about an hour when we ran into a nasty localised storm cell of Fraser Island and got absolutely pummelled.
Jimmi gets tossed across the cockpit and breaks a rib or two.
He set a no 4 headsail and kept going, all the way to Hammo where he pulled in on the opening day a couple of hours before the first race. The crew were waiting anxiously on the dock, lines are thrown, the crew jump on board and Jimmi calmly hops off and asks if someone can give him a lift to the hospital.
Respect.

Wow!!! He is truly unique and resolute!

I used to sail with Jimmi on his beautiful Dragon 'Yandina' a hundred years ago (okay, about 30 years) until she got T-boned and sank one night out near the Hope Banks beacon. I was lucky not to be on board at the time. Tragic loss of boat but, thankfully, no injuries or loss of life.

Yes Shaggy, I agree, respect

Thanks Selkie the support for the whole project has been tremendous.
As for Mr Jimmi you mean this bloke.
For those who don't know of Mr Jimmi, here are some highlights:
4 Osaka races and 4 deliveries back solo.( including one where he spoke no Japanese and his crew mate spoke no English)
Sailed Russian tall ships to the Russian artic back in the 1990s
Any yacht race you want to name and deliveries back
A few Sydney to Perth deliveries both ways.
Usually delivers solo.
King of the weather window.
So here is a pic after 4 days at sea off St Helens this morning and after a flogging yesterday in 30 to 40 upwind.
Tries never to put on wet weather gear.
A true legend!
It is such a great pic as well

Beautiful list of highlights there Lydia! Glad you posted them as, remembering what Jimmi was like, he was never one to brag or be arrogant about his achievements. So add modesty and humility to Jimmi's list.

He's looking better than ever!!

Jimmi probably won't remember me, however, would you pass on my fond regards to him please Lydia?

Lydia, I hope you lift a glass tonight and take a moment to reflect on what you've achieved.
Defiance returning to Tasmania all dressed for the prom after how many years?
Great to see history in the making.

Not there yet Shaggy
