I got a couple of quotes from harbour slips for a bum clean, anti foul and prop speed. They were all about $2200 for an S&S34.

I rang my old Pittwater slip yesterday and they can do it for $1800. I'll be taking MB up to Pittwater later in the year before Lord Howe. I might be looking for someone to keep me company if the wife won't venture that far.

Antifoul about $400
slipping and gerni about $700 to $1000
extras $200

or $75 for the local Abb diver

well that's S.A price for a 42 footer. And payed simular price in North Queensland with the 37 footer.

It works out to be about $3-400 in labour. They can do it in 24 hours, I wouldn't spend a couple of days doing it myself for that.

I would quote 5 hours cut n polish and 5 hours antifoul and prop speed. Total @ $50 per hour cash or on ABN.
Did you want rolled or sprayed antifoul ?

Yes it does. About 3 good scrubs and it grows back within weeks.

So you guys are saying not to scrub?
Does that mean you don't scrub and just do new anti foul every 12 months or so?

I do a pressure clean and one coat of antifoul every 12 - 18 months and generally it has mainly slime on it with a little bit of weed in places

I think the cold water down here and a bit of fresh flowing past helps

Regards Don

There is a risk rubbing ablative if you get caught. Many divers won't risk it. You can't really scrub my boat with a snorkel, too deep and a fair surface area.
I have got 2 years between anti fouls but long ocean passages do thin the antifoul and lead to quicker growth. We did 110 hours motoring last Lord Howe, pretty well removed all the prop speed. The 8 or so days, about 1000nm, doing 4 to 8 kts thinned the antifoul too.
It is early days yet but it seems growth in the harbour is quicker than it is in Pittwater.

I think where you moor makes a big difference. Two friends who moor boats in different places... one in Hardy's bay (central coast) with 10 foot of depth and warm water has a lot of growth in one year. The other berths in Akuna bay with colder water and freshwater flushes in rain, goes 2 years with less growth between antifouls..

correct, i am in the Hacking and the hard growth is a pain to control...as i type my yacht is in need of a wet rub and anti-foul update, not sure what i will go with this time, saving up for the 2.5k dent that seems to be the running rate

Since you are in the hacking have you called endeavour marine service in botany bay. You can work on your own boat could save you a bit.

Hi
I recently have done my mottle 33 at Greenwell Point slip, it cost...
altex 5 antifoul $600
slipping $1052 (6 days)
propspeed $150
Trilux and primer for sail drive $160
extras (don't ask)
Did the work myself, bugger of a job. I also replaced ball valves with tru design ones, seem to be much easier to use.

From experience
Cool water
Water movement
Bottom composition
Water clarity
All effects growth.

Kogarah bay where i am would have to be one of the worse places for growth. Mainly slim but a couple of weeks ago we had a bloom of barnacles hundreds of little ones around the water line never had it before worse on the Starboard side. Happened to all the other owners I spoke to in our bay.
Kogarah bay =
Low water movement
Dirty water
Thick mud bottom.
When I use to clean hulls years ago I always found Gwally bay ( the bay oppersite mine) where Uncle Bob is much better with less growth.

Just got a price for my E26, no prop, at Marmong Point Marina in Lake Mac for me to do it myself.
$286 total lift in and out.
$94 for them to jet wash
$33 environmental levy
$54 per day stand hire
$205 for 4L antifoul. Forgot ask what brand. They said 4L should do it.

So a total of $780 for 3 days on the stand. Thought I would sand and paint the deck at the same time.

Don't need to do it just yet. But wanted to know how much to save up.

Just done mine at Balmain Mariana.
1560$, three days on slip, incl. 10L altex 5 and four L primer (my mate dropped one) and gurney (do it yourself) and one could work all day and night!
Managed 3 coats and propspeed was +150$.
The last one done by a Marina for $2600 barely lasted two years, apprentice did it, boss didn't check quality of workmanship.

If you want it to be done properly do it yourself despite the pain and suffering!

Btw the $100 dollar diver (on a 28 foot boat with reasonably clean bottom, he did it every 4-8 weeks) is Deniz 0413-990770

However, Tom Ugly's is only 6,5m.

the cheapest we heard of nearby on the nsw coast is Ulladulla and Tea Gardens. you gotta be a rate payer of the Nelson bay area to use tea gardens slip.

im gonna give the boat a good scrub - well scrape these days, before leaving for north and have organised with nsw sailor to do mine in laurieton. Similiar prices as Marmong. Gotta be done. Still got a few litres of antifoul left. 200 for 4 litres sounds a bit cheap BJ. I hear you shouldnt use anything crap. Wont work. Ive only used and only use international.

Thanks Sector Steve
I will make sure it is a quality brand when I need to do it.
I was actually told to make sure it is the same brand as exists on it now. But I am guessing it won't matter much if it is almost all gone after the pressure clean.
