Ive seen a ranger taking pics of a kite in tree today. Will this evidence become there reason to ban all kites from this area if a small minority be retarded? 12m in 25-30kt winds and kite launched straight into that big white gum,DOH!

Yes
No scary sharks or big scary waves which keeps the learners in the river. Its such a bad place to learn though....trees, cars, park bench right in the rigging area, bugger all beach. Leighton and the first woodies beach is a much better option for beginners i think.
Part of the small minority here.
Been out of the game for a bit, windfinder was saying 18kn all day, so figured the 12 would be fine.
Cocked up and it ended up in a tree, sorry!
Went to get it out this morning and its gone... anyone seen an awesome hot pink kite around?
i hoped u learnt from that, better the kite then u getting hurt,it was gone when i got there at 1pm.Stay Safe!

Well there is the first rookie mistake - hot pink kite ![]()
This spot has been good for many a kiter learning over the years. It may not be the best but if guys are careful and don't stuff around it will be around for many more years.
look at this numpty from last night . With the ranger taking pics this is the sort of **** we don't need .
some stupid arsed kook who couldn't hold ground . At this time which was about 5:30 i stopped and said to him better put your kite over the water mate . To which this clueless f$ck replies ," the sun is in my eyes and i can't see other kites if it is over the water" Seing as melville is gusty at the best of times i informed him that as the wind was dropping it was highly likely the kite would drop onto the road and potentially end in a house . His response was " How would that affect you ? "
Totally gobsmacked at how clueless some of these kooks who can't hold ground are . The schools should be better educating their students at melville .
Sunday 4pm,kite crashes in front of us as we leave, kite smashed into the letter box across the road and one massive hole-bye bye kite! More learner mates in the water teaching each other without a clue.Im a learner myself but at least im trying to not funk **** up for others.Dont get me started on Perth drivers! FUNK EN HELL!
same thing happened on Saturday... someone's kite detached and went into someone front lawn!
and again on sunday my friend saw some one learning getting dragged along the beach and not pulling the safety!!!!
If I was a resident there I'd be trying to get kiting banned too, clearly safety issues for people out on their front lawns etc. shame for the responsible litres that use the joint, but I'd say the days are numbered.
Oh another thing - make sure everyone parks close together otherwise all the cars space out with big gaps between but not enough to fit a park in. It's hard enough to get a park there on a good breeze, but carless parking leaves less space for others. Local council is looking at painting white lines to indicate parking but for now just do the right thing.
Keep clear of the path to as local residence like to walk or ride the path and kites/boards etc are sometime blocking the way. If you piss them off then the Ranger will make more visits and then next thing - it's off limits for all.
See you on the water fellas.
simple stuff topline, makes it better for everyone.Good winds yesterday for my 8m,even made it back to the beach without stacking it-i think they call that Kiting???? haha
hey guys i just started, my kite too ended in the trees a few days back. then i saw this post today. yes 10m kite in gusts
i was wondering how many cars were damaged before.....
took my lessons here so figured it was a good place to return. will be more careful. i love how when i did my lessons there were even a bunch of new kiters here but no one was helping them. yet there was alot of people standing around i heard criticizing them and watching for the ****ups. would be nice if people offered help when you are more experienced and see when things are going to go wrong first.
and thanks very much to the guy who ran to save my kite from the trees :) much appreciated. (i had 2 people to help me but we were all too new)

I've seen some (and done some) dumb S#!t kitesurfing, but that takes the cake. Imagine dropping the kite onto a car...
I'd feel sorry for the driver!

They do try and help but read Dusta's post and read the thankless reply from a RETARD

And if the car doesn't stop for 50M WHATS THAT GOING TO DO TO THE GUY HOLDING ONTO HIS BAR ( no time to pull QR & or leash)
Here's hint that could prevent a few accidents... instead of launching the kite from the sand, launch it from the water side. E.g. Rider on the beach, launcher in the water. That way if it goes pearshape the rider gets dragged into the water instead trees, road, pedestrians…etc

This is not a good solution imo.
Firstly, the launcher has to carry the kite out ~25m into the water, which would result in lines being twisted, wrapped over wingtips etc.
After launch, most of the beginners will bring their kites to 12 o'clock. The wind above the beach is quite inconsistent. If they're standing on the beach with the kite at 12 and the wind drops, it will stall, possibly becoming tangled and falling into the trees etc. Also if they launch standing on the beach and pull the bar too hard (which i've seen on many an occasion with learners in the water) they'll send the kite directly into the trees/road etc.
There's a 100% chance kiting will get banned at Melville. Drove past today, omfg, it was as busy as the pond, but all learners, no margin for error, 3 kites crashed in the water 5m from the road, one in a tree, some dangling over the road, pure mayhem of the highest order.
The kite schools at Melville are the ones who for the sake of making a quick buck are going to get Melville kiting banned. The operate there and the learners who have done their lessons go back because they think it's a safe area to kite.
My mate is a ranger in that location and the wheels are already in motion for this spot to be banned for kiting.
There is zip that Waksa can do once the vote goes to council. When you have blow in instructors who couldn't care less other than how much $$$ they get the end result is the schools will shoot themselves in the foot and spoil it for everyone. To be honest and knowing that location I think it would be better if it was banned there as it's just a matter of time before someone ends up doing a superman onto the roof of the house.
Go figure!

It isn't just the school , it's the f$cktards teaching their mates at the southern end which you are dealt with a **** off when you ask them to move past the gumtree and move further out . The schools also don't do any education with their students as they themselves have NFI . They are all blowin instructors . The school owners have nfi what is going on down there . I've given up telling people to keep their kites over the water , not coming right into shore and doing a transition etc . Personally i think a ban will be a good thing for that spot .

Yep agreed...
im still learning at the moment and do try to do the right thing and stay outta the way.have seen many learners with mates but doesnt look like many have NFI? looks good for mid week
I pretty much hate kiting there now, it'd be good if noone was leaving there pumped up kites and lines on the sand for hours on end leaving it in the way of everyone and also if people could park normally there and not leave half car sized gaps.
The learners didnt bother me too much as I stay well away from the shore but it is annoying when your trying to get out for the first time and theres a wall of uncontrolled kites that you have to find your way through, specially with all the cobbler hiding in the weeds (I prefer not to walk as much, after I stepped on one a couple of weeks back).
Although the numpties that have the totally wrong kite size for the day gives me the s**ts, it aint hard to look at what everyone else is using and realise your going to cause trouble.

I couldn't agree more dusta.
I drove by one day recently and parked up to watch. Soul Kite instructors, (even wearing their T-shirts with the business name on the back!) were repeatedly riding and jumping exclusively inside the markers, right up to the beach. Kites over the footpath, you've seen it all before anyway dusta. BUT from a school who regularly teach down there, I thought how fkn short sighted and inconsiderate of them.. Make a quick buck this season with no thought to the future, or for anyone else. Nice advert guys, way to set an example!! BTW, was there a big scary shark outside the markers? You can't swim? Or was the 'chop' (lol) too big.. Pathetic.
Anyway, if that school ignores the guidelines set in place by WAKSA to keep the place open, how do they expect their many students (and everyone else watching) to have any respect for keeping the place accessible.
Before any smartass bleats "why didn't you say anything"? I wasn't kiting, I gave up kiting there a long time ago. I've spent years down there, educating the ones who pleaded ignorance & asking the others with egos bigger than their kites to do the right thing.. If I'd got the f off reply or disrespect that particular day, I'd probably be up on an assault charge.
Yes the writing's on the wall, and it's only the regular crew down there who can blame themselves when the privilege has gone. Educate, police it, or lose it.
There's too many of us older crew are past caring now.
