In northerly everyone tends to cluster around that first groyne so I tend to go bit further down south. Also later the better I've found - no swimmers and the pro kiters starting to pack up. From what I can tell Dolls seems like a mad house all the time.

If wind is ok will aim for late session (post 5pm) on Saturday and keen for Sunday if reasonable. Perhaps if wind is good a few of us can coordinate to meet up - can use this post Saturday morning to check in.

Cheers
Anthony

Ah ok, yep the section near the first groyne (aka First Carpark) is ALWAYS busy as there is a toilet block with beach shower so everyone stops there so they can wash themselves and their gear after their sessions. Not sure why no one walks the 100m south to the other side of the groyne where the beach and conditions are the same but the water is empty, everyone just seems content to cram in together between the groynes there. The next carpark south (aka Hollywoods) is basically exactly the same but no toilet block so is usually quite empty which is where my friends tend to get out most often (and where I will be mostly). Dolls is ok, probably more for the intermediate (or newbie under instruction) as there are stronger tides, and a smaller area in total to kite in. Dolls is where I have done my lessons in the past with KP, I was lucky to have my first lesson there on a low wind day (8-12kts max), got out on a 14m to do body dragging and was the only person out there.

Probably not going to get down Saturday as it looks like I am going to have to umpire a couple of baseball games, but Sunday is clear and I will def be heading down to KP to have a chat to them. Got a few domestic duties in the morning but if it's a nice day I might bring the kids and do a picnic lunch on the beach, the love watching the kiters. I will post in here Saturday if anything changes and Sunday when I know what time I will be heading down. Otherwise I will send a text message to those that I have numbers of to see if anyone is going to be around to say hi.

I should be out at the weekend, although earlier in the day as I'm busy both evenings.

I should be in Botany Bay Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, I'll probably come at around 1 or 2pm after I finished building the board rack for my bicycle (otherwise i cannot carry the board).

If the wind is good, I could use some help and advice to setup and launch. I found Doll Point to be very crowded and not so good when the wind blow SE (nearly direct onshore) so I may try to hand a little more north, maybe near kitepower as I need to get some stuff from there anyway.

So far it looks like my 8m may be a little under powered for the 13 knots forecast.

See you guys there,

Jeremy

Sorry missed you guys this weekend, because of the rain my plans kinda got turned on their head and I ended up going to KP early Saturday morning instead of Sunday like originally planned.

Had a good chat with Matt at KP about gear and should be booking in for another lesson in the next week or so, I'll let you guys know when I'm booked in and you can all come down for a good laugh

Micky - Hey mate, and welcome to the better side of Oz would be glad to meet up mate.

It was a bit wet and wild out there. I ended up going out at 6am on Sunday. Good in that there was no one there and the wind was fairly consistent and strong but bad in that it turned a bit easterly.

This week's wind forecast looks terrible but hopefully might change as we move along. Sunday BBQ meet up details to be posted later in the week.

Guys, sorry i can no longer make sunday BBQ. Long story short - mother in law birthday which i was just told about - should be fun. Obviously go ahead without me or if other people are struggling to make it then, then perhaps can reschedule for week after. Let us know.

In any event saturday looking good so maybe few of us can hook up then.

Cheers
Anthony

Hi guys,

An other newbie who want to join the group. I have my equipment and all. Never had the opportunity to kite in sydney yet. I hope we can hookup at botany bay, kurnel, rose bay or wherever its windy!
Seabreaze forecast seems good for saturday but windguru forecast is completly different.
Is someone heading this weekend to Botany?

Cheers,
Anwar

Yes re this issue on wind forecasts, I now tend to look at seabreeze and then the BOM 3 day map which I think seabreeze is at least in part based on. The BOM map is quite good because it shows the wind for each part of Sydney as opposed to seabreeze. Normally seabreeze and BOM line up which, especially when it's for the next day, gives more confidence. But as we all notice they change all the time and can be wrong which I guess is just the challenge of forecasting weather.

All that said, I'm probably like the rest of you which is look at the forecasts for vague planning but only push the button and get in the car when the actuals on seabreeze for Sydney airport and little bay are showing good wind. BOM website is www.bom.gov.au/marine/wind.shtml?location=nsw-syd&tz=AEDT.

Anyway, now looks like tomorrow arvo, Friday and Saturday looking good wind-wise but might be because of some bad weather coming our way. Subject to crappiness of weather, work, etc I'm going to try for at least one or two of a late session tomorrow (6.30 or earlier to 7.30pm), mid arvo session on Friday (4 to 6ish) and sparrows (530am or 6am) or late one on Saturday. Of course I always start with grand plans but generally get whittled down by family stuff (eg Sundays BBQ). Will post tomorrow if tomorrow arvo session looks good to go. Per earlier post chat in this NE will look to go a bit down from the crowds (if there are any) at 1st groyne.

Oh, yes, hi Anwar - look forward to meeting up. And hopefully BbQ will be rescheduled for next week if works for a quorum.

Hi and thank you for the information.
If it stays like that i will sure go for 4pm-7pm session on friday as windguru and seabreeze have the same forecast. Let's keep in touch until then.
Cheers

Well looks like Friday or sparrow's Saturday are the only options this weekend, wind has gone to poo for the rest of the weekend and basically all of next week. I should have predicted this was going to happen considering I have all my new gear sitting and just waiting to get out.

Hi guys,
I was out at kernel yesterday for a few hours working on my body dragging, met up with James, we had a good chat.
Conditions on the weekend don't look so good, I am picking up a 7m kite on Sunday so I will be able to get out a bit more.
I'm looking to book another lesson soon.

The wind looks very tempting this arvo, but I'm a bit behind on work - we'll see!

It was good to catch up with Dembo. I figured out what I stood on - a sea urchin! Had to spend a good 30 mins with my knife at bedtime getting the spines out. Now I know why they say to wear booties...

Tomorrow I will have my car so I will definitely go kitting tomorrow afternoon if the wind doesn't drop.

Got a xmas party tonight so no can do. Looks like good wind so you should have fun. Scott and I enjoyed fairly good steady wind last night at BB until it died about 7pm.

If the wind lasts overnight (and doesn't turn westerly) I'll be b/w 1st and 2nd groyne at 6am Saturday morning. I'll be easy to spot as I'll be the only one there.

GRRRRRRR, what is going on with the wind in Sydney, it is all over the place atm.
Sunday looks like it might have some potential early on, Saturday is looking promising as long as the direction swings around

I know you northies won't be able to make it but tomorrow arvo looks promising. I'll be planning to head down subject to wind and work for a mid-late session (perhaps from 4pm). Maybe if anyone else is keen PM or text me tomorrow and we can coordinate.

Cheers
Anthony.
