I'm calling 8m. the 8m winds are allways fun and the 8m kite turns at just that perfect fun speed. I want all my kites to turn like my 8m.
Hey Plummet might be useful and interesting to lots of peeps to get some more stats with that i.e. to see the relationship of weight to kite and board size/type and favourite conditions for your kit
Me 11mt drifter in 18 - 25kts, 90kg, 6'2" quad
9m Rally with the 12m bar in 20+ and head high+ waves.
(wider bar makes the kite turn even faster!)
90kg with 6'0 quad
17m Core Riot XR2
I'm about 93kg and live in Mackay which has great trade winds 12-20kts..... With a twin tip (axon pulse 140)
In the last year I have used my 10.5m twice and haven't even touched my 8.....
Absolute go to kite!
9 mt trx
18 to 25 knots
83 kilos
head to double O waves
six foot quad
always an epic session with that combo
As to the above poster MR Teabagger, it is impressive seeing him hold down that Edge in those winds, crazy good jumps, very controlled and always fun to watch.

Good idea.
8m 25-35 knots
82kg.
7m Crossbow with a fast kite surfboard. It's fine in almost any winds that will push up white caps up to insane.
We get the most stable wind around 20 knots, and that's 13m XB weather for me. I like using my smaller kites though... but it's always so gusty.
I kept track of the kite sizes I used for 6 years and found that my 16m was my most used kite. Just so many days that the sea breeze was not quite the cranking 18-23 knots we'd all love, but I could still have a ball doing a downwinder with a big kite and board. Having said that, 13m would have to he my fav... agile enough to fly it exactly where you will, and big enough for nice lofty floats with smooth landings.
Gay Pride Square rigger. Made by Cabrinha.
95 kgs.
Geez you guys are slow. Normally someone's been a smart azz way sooner than this!!
Im a beginnier and only have an 11m and a 8m bandits to compare and have only used the 8m twice.
I definitely prefer the 11m but I have used it the most.
Riding a twintip 78kg.
I use the 11m in 14 to 20knots, have had it gusting 27knots.
bring the 8m out once its 17 to 18 knots plus
Current Fav is 11.5m V5 Kahoona all round conditions I have taken it to both it's limits low and high.
7.5m V5 Kahoona again both the V5's have a HUGE wind range I dumped the 9.5m didn't need it. 11.5 and 7.5 covered the 9.5m
40knotts + I am on the 6m Ozone Catalyst 2010, great kite I found my limit on it last month 52mph winds! I couldn't walk with it! had to be walked to the waters edge by the harness, but on the water it was awesome! I got a video some where! It was a storm weekend that hit the UK.
I have a 11m Flexifoil force as well but it's a kite that needs a smaller wind window to ride but it's a killer kite for sure!

Whenever I ride it the conditions are scary and the adrenaline flowing (I am 80 kg)
You can actually double kite loop![]()

It is just brilliant in the surf, you can ride the wave without even feeling it then it will move to the front of the window to pull you around a section when required in about a second.
Pure magic
ps; it doesn't slow you down much coming down from a boost so landings are heavy, I have already broken a rib doing a kiteloop with it and so has my mate Elroy Jetson![]()
I think I must underestimate wind speed amongst other things or my scales are wrong.
95kg
20 kn cross shore
5,11' quad and 4 foot
forgot; 8m kite
12-17m kites.
The kickers/ waves are glassy and there is usually less difference between lulls and gusts thus a more pleasurable ride. Unless you're out there looping all the time, I don't see the point of kites that turn fast at all.
I don't jump and like to fly the kite, so 7m rebel, 20-30 knots, big fat surf board and I am in heaven![]()
