20+ knts
I live on the Sunshine Coast, more like 12 knots plus a 14m plus tide.
2 or 3 times a week on average. Except over winter when the wind just totally stopped for a number of weeks.
Any time I am not working and the wind is 8 knots or more.

,,,,, according to my GPS thingy,,,, ~150 days this year,,,, logging every session just for sh!ts and giggles as I always wondered how much I actually do to what my mind tells me!

According to my GPS thingy for the last three months, I've had over 48 recorded session for about 800k's (and quite a few others when I forgot the Watch). Been a great winter/spring in NSW for me so far. And today is looking pretty good!!!!!
Kept a session log for all of 2014 just out of curiosity... by the way we lived on the beach at one of the best surfing/kiting/sailing spots that year!
Kite: 113
Windsurf: 23
SUP surf: 117
Short board surf: 70
Mountain Bike: 19
Note: Most of my days start with a dawn SUP, then wind stuff in the afternoon, and usually another surf. Doesn't hurt that I technically only work 10 days a month. (Fire Dpt.) This year I was too lazy to keep the log but it was a fun experiment.

You are clocking life man. Thats some awesome stats.
If the wind is in, 3-4 times a week.
If you can average around 50% of the week whether it's kiting, windsurfing or surfing then it's enough to keep you sane and content. Having a cool and understanding missus helps too..
Works for me anyway.
3-5 sessions a week wind dependant and if nothing goes wrong. During the week usually it's short sessions (45min-hr or so) on my way home from work as i have a 4month old daughter and i don't want to miss out on spending the evening with her.
Dec 2014-Nov 2015 Kites. Total 128. Average 2.5 times per week.
--------- Count---Per Week
Summer- 47 --- 3.6
Autumn - 28 --- 2.2
Winter -- 24 --- 1.8
Spring -- 29 --- 2.2
Total ---128 --- 2.5
Covered 1,400km on a kite. I consider a good kite when I do 20km+ without even looking.
Summer once every 2 days on average, other seasons once every 3.
Winter has been particularly good this year, getting nearly 2 per week is pretty good I think...
Also covered 6,400kms on bike to keep fit and to get to work. Cannot kite to work...well not everyday.
Thanks Plummet!
It does help that I pretty much have no life off duty except playing in the water, and my significant other is very cool with letting me go do my thing. (She surfs a lot too.)
I has a wife, and 2 kids under 4yo, and a full time job, and a side job, and some clients I do work for here and there as well.
I haven't been out on my foil board in a month. I put it to the the wife last weekend and it ended up in a 10 minute rant about 'when was the last time I got any time off" and eventually there was some shouting backwards and forwards and in the end I just wrote that weekend off, and next probably too.
Phases come and go.
Lately around once a fortnight and it shows in the crap quality of my riding.
Yea me and Kitcho about on par...
you don't "put it to the wife"
You just come home with a big smile on ya face , and when she says 'where have you been?"
you just say "kiting"
She'll go off, but what else has changed. ?
at least you got a session in!!!
Watch broke down late June to August, which is a shame as we've had a really good winter (2-3 solid sessions a week and should have been 200+ Km months for July & August). Been keen all year and have only missed a handful of kiteable afternoons / weekends so I'd expect the graph to show kiting potential in SE QLD. November has been a bit of a dud. No wind in the past 2 weeks.

Yourve got to ask yourself what is important in life. For me it is family, passions.....................................................then work.
If kitesurfing is important to you then work it into your weekly plan.
Now. How to deal with the missis. Book your kitesurfing in for rest of your life. Have one stand up discussion (argument). "This is what I need to do to be happy in life. Once or twice a week I will go kitesurfing! at least one session during the weekend. EVERY weekend!" Give her equal opportunity to do her passions.
Rather than having similar arguments every weekend. Its one big one. Then its booked in and you can go for it kiting the rest of your life.
It will go down like a cup of cold sick for a while. But push through taking your 3-4 hours of me time regardless of the ranting and she will come around eventually.....
Even with a very young family you still can get out. Hell you need to get out to blow out the cobwebs! Just make sure the missis has cobweb blowing time as well.
What are these GPS thingys? I want one.
Garmin Fenix 3 is a very portable watch like GPS and it auto uploads to a website via your smart phone.

you married guys have got to grow a pair or get shut of them, easy
Yeh kids change things; it not as easy as that. Kiting is my passion, but I wouldn't fck my kids childhood up by getting 'shut' of them so I can kite free of bitch nagging (and I am a fairly heartless bastard when things are all said and done).
Concur with plummett, one huge 'doosy', and the very occasional big doosy (after they have messed your kiting on a number of occasions with their incessant and utterly meaningless planning bull**) does the trick.
My wifes passion is her 'career (whatever the fck that means) and her kids. So she will never 'understand', so don't expect her to. Have gone beyond caring if she does or does not.
That's the place you have to get to.
