Are we looking at a strong la nina/el nino? this year?

Neither , predictions are for a neutral summer . www.bom.gov.au/climate/enso/
Should be a decent summer if predictions hold true
We have had a few seabreezes over on the east coast already , hope they continue

Thanks for the link, had a read on the BOM and read the following;

Climate influences The negative Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) event that has been influencing Australian climate since mid-May has weakened over the past four weeks. Despite this, sea surface temperature patterns continue to be consistent with a negative dipole event. The majority of climate models expect this negative IOD event to persist until mid-spring. A negative IOD during the winter-spring period increases the chances of above normal rainfall, and thus cloud amount, over southern Australia. Increased cloudiness reduces sunshine hours, and hence daytime temperatures, over inland Australia, while over parts of northern Australia it increases the chance of higher humidity.

Sounds like we might be seeing similar coniditions for a while longer? Cooler land mass will mean we wont get as strong easterlies in the morning and therefore we wont be seing the typical seabreeze - is that right?

Lets hope not and this miserable weather will p*** off!

Whilst its been a bit hit and miss I've had some great sessions in the last few weeks. Strong winds and good swells.

Even though it may not look that appealing when it's cold and raining, once you hit the water it's normally well worth it

Plus we've got all of summer to look forward to
