Wtf
I pumped up my new 7m Edge today, had a fricken awesome 3 hour session down Cauncy's way. The bottom end was 27-28 knots, with maybe very high 30's as the tail of a few squalls to the south tickled us. Yoweeeee :)
And I can't explain that pic either Glokite, some dude that loves his cameras...
F--- that! Give me a nice sunny consistent seabreeze anyday![]()

Matt and I had a good couple of hours at Horrocks this arvo. Bloody up and down though. Nothing at all for a while, then full on 7 weather.. Swinging from west to south west and back. Tide was low and managed to smack into the reef, reduced the old reef clearance on the board by a couple of mill and collected a solid purple bruise on the quads. Should know better, right in front of my beach house and I look down at the reef all the time!
Great squalls when the rain clouds came through, Matt yelling at me "I'm getting wet" haha
Roll on Summer by geez, steady crossshore wind, warm air and boardies. Can't wait.
Kited at Brighton around 10 til 12 good for around an hour 7's and a surfy, wind then died for a half an hour then came in guns blazing. Got on the TT in 35 pinged off the first ramp into orbit then crashed my kite downlooping too late, ended up with lines wrapped around my neck, got them off asap but they were all around the bar also. Had to ditch my kite and swim in.
Still had a ball though, lines took an hour and a couple of beverages to sort out, pretty happy it ended well could have been real bad!

Was that before or after we passed you on the downwinder Nick? Certainly were a few big faces to boost off and some heavy swells if you got the turns wrong.
Also reckon that whilst dropping your kite was bad (and could have been a lot worse) it wasn't as bad as the City of Stirling guy that bogged his ute halfway along the City Beach dog beach. When we passed the waves were hitting it and washing the sand from underneath it ![]()
Was after that, we were just starting then, got a couple of good waves before the wind came in. You looked cruisy on your six, but thought John could have got blown away on his 7, not bad seeing he be 20 kg lighter than me. Wonder if that cars still in the water now?
^ already had a few seabreezes this year - late August, early sept.. But here's my Perth spin: Consistency usually picks up a bit in October and come November - be ready for stronger breezes as land temps increase while ocean temps still low = ![]()
Sure we've had some southerly's, maybe one day with an easterly in the morning and then swinging but nothing i'd call the freo doctor. I know there are few guys who check the pressure systems and understand the numbers which indicate what patterns we should get in the short/medium and long term. This cold/rainy stuff is miserable, looking forwards to the 30 degrees :)
Are we looking at a strong la nina/el nino? this year?
Are we looking at a strong la nina/el nino? this year?
Neither , predictions are for a neutral summer . www.bom.gov.au/climate/enso/
Should be a decent summer if predictions hold true
We have had a few seabreezes over on the east coast already , hope they continue

A nice wind to welcome you to the Midwest, a bit buggered today one and a half hours in the morning on the 10 then three hours on the 7, carnt believe the power those liitle kites produce, it'd be up there with one of my more powered rides, good to see a few boys out all loving it
