are we talking strapped boardies over wetsuit or unstrapped wetsuit
or unstrapped boardies or strapped wetsuit !
straight can of worms there mate!
Hey Prawn !
You know what you are right bro ! I don't ride with board shorts over my wet suit or use foot straps but crew do and its totally cool either way. As long as your having fun who cares hey !
I would hope that crew who love kiting on surfboards can connect and chat regardless of what they wear or ride. Regardless of what category it is there will always be debate and differences in opinion on what works best.
Surf on muther Farkers !!
I don't reckon there is enough wave related topics to warrant it's own section to be honest. Scrolling down the front page of general there is only one, maybe two wave related topics.
I guess there isn't that much to really talk about maybe?

Agree with surfingboye... also imo if you start breaking down topics to much people lose interest.
Sure, so the surf crew are basically the minority ?? This is staggering to hear...
All I can see from Syd to Melb is kiters on surfboards, yes some on TT but maybe 5 %
How about a twin tip section instead? Then Kitesurfing -> General can be used just for talking about WA waveriding, as Laurie intended...?

You're dreaming there mate, surfers are more pretentious then girls. If you're not wearing the right gear in the right way then you aren't doing it right. Saw one blokes comment on spacebook saying if he had to wear a seat harness he'd give up the sport, he was in his Hurley clad 30's. One must only wear their Hurley boardshorts, Hurley cap and a leg rope because you only go out when it's massif. Funniest **** ever to see grown men stuck in their childhood insecurities.
Here's my wave section from a couple of weeks back.
So... How big a these waves?
Based on last years WA measurement, at least 20 foot!!!

It's actually a real question. What size are they?
I'm thinking 1.5 head. 5-6 foot Hawian? . People size waves so differently.
Since there's a "wave" thread running, thought I'd throw this question out there.
While kiting my fav but sketchy spot last week, I dropped my kite & consequently had my brand new surfboard washed up on the rocks. ![]()
I don't wear a leash for saftey reasons but thinking of wearing a leggy out there next time, did a dwinder wearing one & spent that much time un-tangling it - that it ruined the sesh.
I saw a kiter the other day with what looked like a boogie board leash (coiled) attached from his surfboard to his harness.
Interested to hear what others are using. ![]()
maate, it washed up on old woman island? Did you get it back? Sounds like a proper mess.
Yep, - I gave up looking for it & it was a looong drag back in.....props to a mate I was kiting with who somehow managed to grab it for me.
First time I've dropped my kite out there.
Years ago we had some made up by the local leg rope factory that went from ankle strap with a quick release that connected to back of harness (handle pass attachment). I think I still have some. You can have it if you know some one in Byron to pick up. its good for lack of drag and switching stance, but sucks when the whole rope goes round your body. I just use a regular 6'6" lowest stretch leash if I have to use one now. Don't go too big as they start to stretch more.
Lucky you got it back and that you got your kite back in the air. We could all be talking about old Mick the hobo who lives on old woman.
Who's on that yellow Aeneema ??
Me! First session on the 5.5m - love that kite. It was 30 knots and gusty from memory. The sets were a solid 8ft.

The kitesurfing forum is the wave section dude ....
amongst other random stuff.

just checking with the kool gurus first... (Actually idc will continue with my kilt until it dies )
Is it OK if I wear my hat?

Really, there's only 2 forms of measurement; normal surfers measurement and kook measurement.
In normal surfers measure it would be about 3 foot. In kook measure 5-6 feet.

Where are you taking your 3 foot measure from? which kiter? If you look at the left most kiter you can just make out his head, he is riding at the bottom of the wave. So the wave the left hand kiter is on is easily double head. Do you call double head, 3 foot?
