Jon Eddy was out riding a mutant style thingy. While its tecnically not a twin tip it's not a surfboard either.

I understand the angst due to crowding (assumed crowding). Never been to Narrow neck. It seems there is a lot of angst on the gold coast. Went to the KFC flat water spot whilst on the GC recently with my wife to give her some practice. I noticed that level of incompetence launching was incredible. Getting on the forums making threats and trying to set yourself up as an authority is pretty useless unless you actually have some sort of position with some governing body. Perhaps getting the local council or at least the local lifeguards involved in some sort of local rules would be a better way to go. I love that kiting where I am on the Central Coast of NSW for the most part is free from the attitudes and selfishness that exists in huge doses in the surfing world. I think its interesting that the guy starting this thread has only been a member since january this year. Perhaps he joined up just to have a go at people.

Judging by some of the other forum topics related to the gold coast that I have read. It would appear there is a different element of people kiting to those we have at my local. Most are business owners, people with degrees, people with a high level of general intelligence. On the Gold Coast you seem to have an element of bogans and lower intelligence type of people kiting. I say this as, threats of physical violence tends to demonstrate a lack of ability to reason and sort things out amicably. I really feel for all the good people who act safely and are courteous. I urge the rest of you who have become defensive of your local spots there are better ways to go about it. I certainly would be angry if a bunch of lawnmowers with those ridiculous auto reel things attached to their twin tips came to my local point break and rode through the wave. Saw a lot of those at KFC. Perhaps just telling people to go elsewhere would work. We use the claim, which is true, that we don't want to get banned from the spot due to a beginner creating an incedent. Usually works. Also some twin tip guys have no concept of surfing or surf kiting. They don't get that they should not ride down wind of you while you are trying to annihilate a wave.

Best of luck with it. I will avoid the whole area. Not much into what I call Crowd Surfing.

Oh and to the guy that I helped out, during my solo downwinder, to get his bow tied North Vegas in through the shore break safely at Currumbin. Usually when someone helps you out its courteous to say thank you.

Another observation is that some of the people threatening people are not even from the Gold Coast. Im only weighing in as I had been there recently and was disappointed with the lack of courtesy showed to my wife while learning.

Most people were quite nice and I helped quite a few out launching as it seemed like hot launching (rider almost directly up wind of person holding kite) seemed to be the order of the day, on both days I was at KFC. Had no problems, mind you, kiting my way down the coast by myself.

All Ill say is RSPECT the core crew, we laid first claim to this spot while you were swimming in your daddys balls son.

God how did I miss this one.

So when the windsurfers roll up you give them right of way for all the waves on windy days - right?
I mean who was there first wins, yah?

Okay. I get it. This is where you tell me that "locals rule", and that Yuppie insects like me shouldn't be surfing the break, right?

Hi All,

To all the newer crew who kite narrow neck the core riders are looking to impose some local rules to keep a bit more order, the newer mob who kite there are not learning the unspoken rules of the break and I feel it has come to a point where we must impose some kiting guidelines and regulations.

To begin with:

1. Sign in and sign out sheet, it will be located on the sun dial plinth where you write your name mob number and kite brand/colour/size and residential post code.

This is so if we see you do anything dangerous/ stupid ( e.g like downlooping or jumping close to shore or within 100m of flags) we can report you to the life guards/council or even the police if the incident warrants such action.

Also strictly no twin tips will be welcome, frankly there style is too progressive and dangerous !

No.

Just no...
