ill be needing some design work for the event, anyone out there that can help?

Katie Kiter can do it.
Seriously, noone cares about the signage. Just set a date already so we can all book accommodation and time off work

One of the main draw cards has to run through his busy schedule with his promoter
wouldnt want to sacrifice that until he gives a date
wont be long now

Perhaps something to entice some newbies/less advanced?
I'm making stuff up as I type here:
* Maybe a session talking about the kiting spots around Gero - tips and hazards for some of the locations
* Sign-up for refresher sessions with instructors (not free of course, but perhaps "encouraging" pricing)
* Maybe a "your first downwinder session" where there are a few instructors/experienced kiters that are looking out for the newbies. Logistically and from a safety perspective this perhaps isn't possible, but maybe this concept could spark another idea from someone else...

Looking at the pics of the wide open beaches, it does look like an awesome place a relative newcomer to the sport (like me) could get some great runs in and technically progress a bit faster (than crowded Perth), all while meeting some new crew and sharing a couple of quiet beers :)

Great ideas ReefWalker! Lots of ways we could do all those and there are several downwinder options from super easy (like the Greenough River to Pt Moore trip) to the much longer Sunset to Coronation trip, while being long (22km) isn't really all that challenging (you can always hug the coast inside the reef if you want to avoid the waves); the idea of doing refresher sessions always goes over well -- in Sydney we used to do 'Season Openers' where we'd have a classroom session early morning before the wind came up and address things like advanced riding techniques; choosing a board; strapless riding; etc. Always booked out. And the idea of talking about all the spots around the area with tips, explanations and hazard alerts -- great suggestion!

Cauncy? Whadda ya reckon?

I like that promo, not everyone reads SB, so having these at at participating and non participating kite shops and associated watersports outlets won't hurt

Gero kite crew will be aware, not sure if they are involved, it will be advertised locally, especially if the council get in on the act, they seem very keen, but yeh, feel free to give his contact

Hello guys.
Because of the demand on demoing the EPICKITES, I am considering on doing an Epic demo during the "Midwest Windfest". I've been in touch with Mr.Cauncy working on the details.
I plan to come down for 2 weeks in WA and do lots of demos on different kite spots and share my experience with any one who is interested.
So get ready for an Epic time.

If the screamer is as good as it sounds, I'll be buying one (or two). Could also be a good chance to hit some other spots as well.

Yes im wondering if because of Fifo work i might be stuck at work, depending on dates too.. the fifo life = miss out on everything possibly as usual.

It would be awesome and inspiring to see some Legendary kiters struttin their stuff !
East CC are you bringing O.R gear ?

well Mike. You've officially left it too late to set a date. After weeks and weeks of my wife asking "has he set a date yet. is there a date yet". We now have plans for every weekend of November. That said, I'd be happy to ditch our plans for the first two weekends. And it would take a bit of doing, and cost me some money, but I'm willing to try and wrangle free of my commitments for the other weekends. Just hurry up and set a date.
I think I'm not alone in not caring about drawcard riders and other tassels. I just need a date.

Sent dimitri from epic kites a pm
he's keen to attend and demo his gear if calendar is right
hoping to get a couple of pro riders to also attend
Some possible stiff competition
for the boosters amongst us
should be fun

That would be awesome to have Dimitri doing his air magic entertaining all the beach goers and making us look like weve just finished kite lessons haaa

He will definitely have to compete in the big event - K.O.A politics said he was too old to go big !
Dingos arzz - time to make things fair dingkum ! or we'll be watching too haaa

Perhaps see if Ruben might be available hes another Legend..

just had an email from ruben lenten also mark shinn, couple of kiting legends, however we will need some funding for ruben to attend the event, not a big ask if we get the numbers , ill be taking a few weeks off work soon to get stuck into the events organisation
cheers

hi, the proposed dates for the midwest windfest will be the 24/25/26 november, the aim of the event is a big fun social get together for kiters of all levels and their families, a no to low cost event, plenty of shop and brand participation, pro rider tutorials for all levels, kite equipment demos, associated sports demos and participation, low key comps, big air, race, wave, with a big focus on multiple downwinders to the iconic coros beach with sunset drinks, food and tunes,
Bring it on
