the zepher should self land using the technique I use on my bridled kites:

fly kite to the edge of window so the wingtip is resting on the ground. keep tension in your lines.> reach up and pull the top centre line aggressivly 1 to 2 meters should do it, the kite should fall over leading edge into the wind.

with this method you will not damage your kite. Also it gets trickier in strong wind.

Right got it. Let the beast go, run like fxxxx to catch it. What could possibly go wrong !

all joking aside. this is a good method.

Goto 1.40. if it goes pear shaped the kite flags out any way.

Still working my way into the jumps and boosts, so think I will stick with the straps for the time being thanks! Am pretty OK with feet swapping on the surf board now.

The Beast arrives friday, and have 4 days up at Horrocks to hopefully test it out.

Any tips on self landing the Zephyr? I'm pretty ok with the 5 line rebels self landing, but whats the plan with a 4 line? Presume same principle except pull on a middle line instead of 5 th to drop it once it is sitting on its tip...

I can always do a tethered land but its a bit more ginning around

Thanks

Dave self landing the zephyr over 15knts imo is a bit scetchy, the is a fair amount of canopy waiting to get airborne, you've a fair bit of beach up at horrocks and a few structures that you can tether launch, I've pulled my safety as I'm self landing so if it does go to crap you've already deployed, don't fanny around just keep pulling till she rolls over, great kite over 13knts the only thing I've found fault with is its a pain to fold up and pack when its blowing 20

Just arrived at junkies joint at kendi beach Bali. Looks 15 to 17 next three days and I've only bought my cruiser pro light wind board and the zephyr. Should be interesting to say the least. Hopefully the tropical winds will work in my favour. Tony and robbie don't arrive for a couple of days so hopefully I won't have to self land...ha ha.

Agreed over 15 knots tether dave its worth the ****in around. Lighter the vid posted works well. Or just pull the safety each time but I try and avoid that unless its really blowing. Gonna love the kite man. Get in your head you are on a 17m and not a 10 or 11m and you will have a blast. Ride it as it tells you to ride not the other way and it will be awesome.

Look out for Leeroy or Brett (dreads) or Bobby at Sanur. They will help out. Will see you on Saturday. Will have various gear you can borrow Eppo as will the rest of the Darwin crew

Had a reasonable session today. Was up and down a bit. Hey the softer tropical wind is a factor I'm getting used to. Lol.

Fair crew here already.

Had a couple of kites, walked my gear down 200m had some nasi goreng then walked the next 200m back to junkies retreat and Nanna nap time.

Sweet.

Ps some guy was out on one of those strutless Airush thingies. He seems to be doing okay but man was that canopy doing the deformation flutter dance. I'm not convinced so far gotta tell ya.

... good to hear it ok so far for ya eppo.

I hate the flapping thing too, sounds like my nightmare kite! Back in my sailing days, flap in the sails means inefficient foil so adjust it til it doesn't flap and since my brain can't get over that fact, if I see flap I see its just sh!t and it a'aint right. Anyway, maybe I'm wrong and they are good, better try it and see for myself!

See you soon Eppo!

Robbie

ps snapped my spreader bar today waaaaay out and just made it back to shore, better get on to the local dealer or I'll be riding unhooked for my Bali trip
