I haven't got a clue what she's saying ,
It's impossible to hear from 200 m offshore with all that wind in my ears!!!

If you have kids once your partners sees a beaming face like this any nagging will end after all they come first

Do you really want to go kiting more than hang out with me?

There's no safe way to answer that question, so just going is the best bet.

I once reneged on afternoon delight to go kiting with my mate (but it was on, on) and I still haven't heard the end of that one and it's been a year. They love to whinge.

Sheeesh
That could almost lead to the question...
What's better - kitesurfing or sex ?

Wife and I have been together since we were 19, and nearly at the 17th wedding anniversary. Was a surfer when we met, travelled the country on a shoestring chasing waves and she understood. It's who I was, even though she has never been an ocean girl, she went with it.
Learnt to kite three years ago and I have to admit, it possessed me more than surfing. Am still hopelessly addicted.
She has come around and now knows that when The SW tree out the back is flapping, I'm disappearing. I work FIFO and by midweek she is asking about my plans when I am home, who is coming down for the weekend to kite and even says to friends that I might be late if the wind is blowing.
Racking up the points when it's not windy is the key. I am up early, chores done, kids sorted, dogs walked, fark, I am even doing the washing and getting dinner sorted now. In a roundabout way, I am more involved in the family life than ever because of the love of kiting.
This has come back tenfold and she is loving the stoke I get from it.
Both my girls (11 and 13) want to learn to kite next summer so bring it on. Am really looking forward to seeing there faces on that first run, and the stoke level in the house going through the roof!

Note that the wife has only ever once come down to watch and the comment was "it's too bloody windy, stuff this"

Spot on really. Do the stuff they ask of you and make it clear that they arent second and they'll never really whinge (well 3 weeks out 4!)

My mrs is pretty good if i compromise and i can still kite 3-5 times a week. We know enough guys of all ages without an interest and they are the ones who seem a bit unmotivated and have ran into problems particularly once they hit 45/50.

Agreed with being a good husband and dad when the winds not in. I currently have my two kids with me, just hanging etc she's doing whatever that species does when they aren't fussing about like headless chickens.

I don't subscribe to them not whinging even if you earn major leave points, it's inherent in their nature. Of course there are alway exceptions to a rule but overall I'd say my hypothesis is close to a natural law of nature. Come and work at a school for day, you will see.

I a woman pulls a knife on you during and argument.
Just get out some bread and mayo.

kitesurfing will never leave me.

kitesurfing will never talk back.

but it does give me the occasional beat down.

haha not true my gf is great she loves me kite surfing she's looking to get into it herself, but she does moan its too windy when she's trying to bask in the sun! she currently on sorrento beach throwing sand on herself, been there for a few days :)

The latest one is that she has started calling my kite budie my boyfriend
Fine go for a kite with your boyfriend then
Your boyfriend is on the phone again guess I'll see you later
You would rather sit on the beach with him waitng for wind than hang with me ( but there is wind )

As for the it's to windy on the beach for the girls thing my misses would site behind another one of my old kites to get out of the wind but trust me it doesn't last long .

I must have done something in a past life to be rewarded,

my wife took up sailboarding when we first met,
we both bought kites at the start, she can't kite now due to health reasons,
it was her suggestion that we move to live by the beach,
our honeymoon was in Maui
She sends me texts at work when the wind is up or there are kite up, and
She plans weekends and holidays around water and wind forecasts....

Life is good

I tried a bf who didn't kite and that went south very quickly... pumping up my kite for me lost it's appeal after one or two tries... so off i'd go on my own... (arrive home an hour after dark) him: "where have you been?" me: "just having post-session beers with the guys!". He became ultra jealous of every minute I spent at the beach 'with all those guys' (although I tried to point out that most of them were on the wrong side of 50) and in the end I chose kitesurfing.

Bf's who kite are either always trying to teach you something (I don't need your help, thanks) or snaking you for the good waves (that one works in reverse too so it's OK).

Yet to find the perfect balance!

Sometimes she says "would you like me to pump your kite up" "want me to pass you your board"

" what did you say I cant hear you", " wait I think your lines are twisted" while she holds my kite while I launch it.

My missus is more obsessed with the weather forecast than I am. The day she took her first lesson was the best day of my life. Im now about to marry her. Not because of kitesurfing. But because we spend so much adventurous time together with the same frame of mind... happens to be pursuing kitesurfing. Sickeningly fkn excellent.

She says,
" I'll drop you down at Port, downwind to my place at Cott, walk up and yeah, yeah, there's plenty of beer in the fridge, got some stuff for the BBQ, you'll stay the night won't you?"

" if you're not here by sunset I'll drive down and look for you"

not too sure I usually don't listen. But I do know she checks on here for what I have posted and any time on sea breeze is counted as kiting time as well as lessons, time in the shop and even afternoons when there is no wind.
Better not say any more
