Just saw this lucky sole on 7, funny as , 2.5 to 3 metre croc they claim, looks to me like he got skull dragged across the flats.

What worrys me is, I thought 2.5m was quite small and wouldn't have the balls to tackle a human. I even thought a 3m would think twice about it. I was wrong, I wonder what size wouldn't eat people?

I know nothing about crocs......

But that's a massive kite
and why does ( everybody ) stick their finger in a crocs eye? Is it like cow tipping?

"Because I was attached to my kite, it acted like a massive brake ... he was trying to pull me back but he's pulling the whole weight of a 40-metre kite, so he couldn't get me down under

"Because I grew up in the Territory, born and bred, it's like, everybody sticks their finger in a crocodile's eye, so I just thought I'd go for gold and got my index finger and just shoved it as hard as I could straight into his eye socket," Mr Keeping said.

Those "wounds" are so soft for a croc, it must have just been trying to hug him with its mouth. Seriously though look at the teeth on a 2.5m croc, if he was stuck in its mouth he should have some serious punctures. On top of that the orientation of the wounds looks all wrong. They are scratches, not bite marks.

Mmm, dunno about this story... Every single croc attack I've seen, they roll and tear, not shake. Marks on his back looks like scratches with some puncture wounds on his shoulders - no bits on opposite side. Anybody who's been to Malcolm Douglas Croc farm in Broome would have seen the demo where they take a stick and pushes the crocs eye back to show you that thats a myth! Taking this one with a pinch of salt...

... yeah, I know of him and met him a couple times, nice enough bloke but definitely not a regular and definetely not familiar where to kite from! On the day of the incident, the wind was completely wrong so we're all confused why he went there to begin with. The beach is very open there so he either spend a very long time in the water or it was one brave, very hungry desperate croc as they don't hunt/feed in such open waters, no where to stash the dinner.

We don't know him so we can't guage if its bull or not. A few things don't add up for sure!

Robbie

p.s. seabreeze kicked in yesterday so we had an epic session in the very reported spot, and man talk about hype, every second dog walker had to warn us, "don't you know there is a croc here",,,,, geeeze man talk about hysteria! Its like a killer shark report in WA!

Is this the first time ever that a kiter got attacked by croc? The Docs will be able to tell for sure if he had bite marks or not.

No dramas about the board Steve, glad I could help. It was not that long ago that it was me bobbing around feeling very venerable a couple of hundred metres off shore, wondering if it would be a croc, shark, or box jellyfish that was going to ruin my day!

Unfortunately missed the downwinder, sounded like an awesome trip!

Can't work out the kiting as Cas beach part of the story, it was blowing from the SE all day??

Thanks again Chris. I was dreading having to go swim for my board.

NT News stated it occurred at Casuarina Coastal reserve - which according to the map is the Lee Point area - so that makes more sense with the SE winds.

www.google.com.au/maps/place/Casuarina+Coastal+Reserve/@-12.3272591,130.899535,14z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xf0217a90db0ef70

I have been crabbing lately in Micketts Creek and there is a 2-3m croc in there that raids my pots at the mouth of the creek - could be the same one.

I think it's Casurina coastal reserve from rapid creek onwards, I remember there being a sign about it on the cliffs.

You'll be shocked what the docs in NT know about stingers, crocs, snakes and other nasties. Diddly squat. Frankly, you're better off going to the local VET or the local University's poisinous animal labs for better treatment.

According to the ABC interview it was at Lee Point. Croc catcher went and visited the guy in hospital and would have called bulls... if it was the case.

Have just called Crocwise about the croc hanging around the mouth of Micketts Creek.

... 2m is still capable of chomping ya toe or fingers off so its big enough, either way is gunna mess ya up! If you ever do one of those croc tour thingys at a croc park, hold one of the baby ones, you'll feel they are a ball of muscle when they wanna.

Cheers,

Robbie :)

Returned from fishing at Charles Point a couple of weeks before a Christmas, saw a huge croc just outside Larrakeyah Army Barracks. They are everywhere. I just won't admit that to my missus, but now will have second thoughts on getting out of the boat when in the creeks.

Won't stop me from getting back into kiting. I apologise in advance to the Darwin crew if I drift in the way and please do not think that I am being snobbish/unfriendly if I set up and launch a lot further upwind on the beach.

No, it was not me Robbie on Saturday. Was briefly kiting there on Sunday morning though ... and was a sitting duck when I was submerged in the water. Might have to wear a flak jacket next time.
