I thought it was a sponsorship deal thing... some brands don't make wetties so they make there riders were their brands boardies over them...

But for some reasong the key loop on wetties always seems weak as??? My boardies always seem to have a loop that seems a little more robust.
Perhaps it is a problem solely associated with Oneill wetties? Love em, but far out I dont trust their key loops!

started in early 2000's in wakeboarding to differentiate from the skiers ,(a wakeboarder wearing a wetty and no shorts was branded a "ski-boarder" and appropriately punished ) ,, we wore shorts because tricks look better in shorts than a neoprene "onesie" . then after one too many unfortunate landing enemas we wore wetsuit shorts under our shorts as a protective arrangement -- kinda like a cricket box for your date ... now following that logic buy calling us short wearers "gay" (not that there's anything wrong with that ) your calling the enitre australian cricket team gay !! and thats just not cool !! (no matter if any of its accurate ) ,
but aside from that the wetty shorts are a good deterrent to hydraulic penetration of your anus but the board shorts look better wakestyle . .

I have found that you get less ball slap on bad landing when wearing a wety as apposed to free balling with boardies.....might get me some of those taught cricket style undergarments to slip[ on and save the little boys some pain
