Give it some time, plenty of peaks & troughs over the last 18 months. Could consider the UK opened up at the start of a predictable reduction/slide after a peak. Also need to plug in there are still 20k new cases per day being recorded and deaths bottomed out at approx the same time last season. The next upswing might not be seen for a while, previous trends cycles would indicate autumn, 6-8weeks time. If not, the UK vaccination program is working or they are simply through the worst of it.
Regardless of what the layman's or expert's agenda is, only time will tell.
I think it's pretty simple - facemasks are the problem... UNLESS you are prepared to throw them away and put on a new sterile one several times a day
People don't do this
If you keep reusing the same mask, then you are increasing the risk of infection.
I also suspect many face masks have poor virus filtration efficiency.
But as they say better than nothing, well maybe.

I wonder when we are going to get to at least 70% fully vaccinated and 88% having had at least one dose?
I suspect that there are a lot of people here that want both things, being able to avoid getting vaccinated and opening up the economy. Is there a current example of a country like that with low rates of vaccination and opening up and still keeping case rates low?

I doubt face masks are the problem, merely a symbol of certain types of psychology going on. The old saying 'its the nut behind the wheel' is probably closer to the truth.

What?
face masks aren't there to stop you inhaling the nasties. They are there to stop everyone breathing on everyone else, by redirecting/stifling the outward direction of exhaling. Whilst its not a good idea to keep wearing one continuously weeks on end, day to day is perfectly reasonable.

If the answer was that simple, surely the "medical experts" would have figured it out. Instead they spout the scaremongering propaganda.

Propaganda?
What would a government need to do if there were a pandemic that was dangerous and they wanted to prompt their citizens into action? Say there were something similar to Ebola, but treatable by a vaccine. How would they do that in order to make people get vaccinated before they were infected?
How would you distinguish the two? I.e. how can you tell decent information and warnings from propaganda?
Is it just the interpretation of information in one's own mind, or something else?
So apparently all of the people in Sydney Covid intensive care are vaccinated.
Now there's some food for thought.
Where did we land with this? Are you satisfied that people in ICU were unvaccinated at the time? I read something earlier today where they mentioned that towards the end of the speech it was clarified that he mis-spoke.
I am actually interested in how this pans out. Clearly we get more cases in ICU over time and the breakdown of vaccinated versus unvaccinated would be interesting to show a trend.
On the face of it it would be hard to separate the vulnerable and pre-existing conditions to see what the effect was, but if you see certain data it would be more meaningful. In other words if you saw people that were otherwise healthy getting Covid and ending up in ICU, the proportion of vaccinated versus unvaccinated would be more meaningful.

Well, if it helps you at all, it was the opposite of what that clip showed. All of them were unvaccinated except for the one that had one shot.
Why do you say that it makes sense if they are vaccinated? I understand why it makes sense if they are unvaccinated, but I don't understand your point of view.

Abstract
An outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 caused by the Gamma variant of concern infected 24/44 (55%) employees of a gold mine in French Guiana (87% symptomatic, no severe forms). The attack rate was 60% (15/25) among fully vaccinated miners and 75% (3/4) among unvaccinated miners without a history of infection.

Yeah, he misspoke.
After he was told by the propaganda-ists to say he misspoke.
What astounds me by your post is another person green-thumbed it. Clearly there are some crazy people out there that are too lazy to check facts or just want to believe.
Unless you have another account and green thumb yourself because you are so good? I will make no assumptions.

Yeah, no doubt we will end up with strains where the vaccine does little or nothing at all. Logic suggests that if you have a lot of people vaccinated but still a pool of infected people, the only strains that can do well are the ones that aren't targeted by your body which has been trained by various vaccines.
I think from the get-go people have said it will end up requiring booster shots as the virus changes. Lets hope it morphs into one where its relatively benign and needs no vaccine.
It is interesting on your data that the vaccinated still seem to have some protection, albeit not that much. Its also good to see them separate out those that have previously been infected to make the data more useful.
I wonder if it still means there is a benefit of being vaccinated? Are these people that are vaccinated seeing less severe reactions? I guess we will see that data over time.
For those that don't like applying critical thinking and think that its just thinking of someone critically:
Even a conspiracy theorist could probably keep enough concentration span to watch this clip and it was in the same press conference, so either 'the fix is in' or the doctor made a mistake, a journalist asked for an explanation, and he corrected it. Either that or 'they' went back and changed the test results and vaccination stats for all the people in the ICU.... yeah, that's it!
You do realise that an awful lot of people have suffered horrendous injuries after being injected with these concoctions and that the mortality rate is steadily climbing?
And we are only seven months into the experiment.

What are the horrendous injuries? Yes, people have died. I do consider that horrendous and don't wish it on anyone. Maybe they shouldn't have taken any precautions at all in the beginning and 'let it rip'. I think people in this cocoon here would be thinking differently if they had.
Have you read any of the articles about people that 'thought it was the flu' and died at a young age? Horrendous.
Have you read the articles about the people that thought it was a hoax and died at a young age? Pretty horrendous.
I worry for those of us that feel that the outside world is controlled by someone that knows what they are doing. If it is, those people are doing a great job of making us that have dealt with government think that they are pretty clueless and keeping a secret of this magnitude... impossible.
The saddest is when you read a GP state that those dying at the very end ask for the vaccine, not realising how a vaccine works and how its too late to provide any protection. It's not an antidote.

Back on track of who will or won't get the vaccination, Qantas has adopted an IATA app to prove you have been vaccinated or tested prior to boarding an international flight. Too bad for those who choose not to have either, I guess your staying put.

And we are only seven months into the experiment.
Is that what the CT people are calling it now? An experiment? Is this so that if nothing happens and we all get through this they can still say 'yeah it was an experiment, and look what they needlessly made us do'. If things work out badly they can also say 'see, its an experiment to get rid of us'. CT nutjobs cannot lose, they will be right either way.

Qantas are doing the only sensible thing. The countries at the other end are going to insist on vaccination or proof that you have already had it anyway.
Domestic flight? Who knows. The states may be the same. 'Sorry, unless you can prove you are vaccinated, you have to do at least 2 weeks in hotel quarantine'.
The only problem with that though is the vaccine doesn't stop you from catching or spreading it, only decreasing symptoms. So I don't think vaccinated or not that governments are going to allow you to come and spread the love.

What would you call the use of a novel medication which has never been used before?
"Slobbering" Great description!

So then ... complete, total, and endless lockdowns are the only solution aren't they. Why even bother with the risks of taking a vaccine that won't protect you from infection ...when your government has decided that even getting infected is a bridge too far?
Nothing here makes sense. Most vaccines don't fully protect against catching and spreading, and yet premiers and leaders calling for zero cases are holding vaccines -- and medicine in general -- to a higher standard than is ever possible.
Now the question can only becomes ... who benefits from all this catastrophising?

There you go, you're getting the hang of propaganda now!
I find it kinda funny the few people who are scared of the needle cause of the miniscule risk of a blood clot which then gives them an even more miniscule risk of death,
their buying into the media blood clot hype, but they have definitely without a doubt taken prescription drugs from their doctor that have a majorly larger chance of clotting/death/complications without questioning it????? because Koshie didnt mention that drug on Sunrise lol
Even funnier watching the anti jab crew at the protest saying they dont want to take the 0.00002% chance of a clot........while they were sucking on a winnie blue putting them at 80% chance of cancer death. lol
"antibiotics caused an additional 36 sudden cardiac deaths per million treatment courses. So about 1:8,500 patients will develop a serious arrhythmia, or irregular heartbeat, and 1:30,000 would die because of the antibiotics."

Be careful, you are almost gushing for the conspiracy theorist love-fest.
Yeah, attaboy! You are one of us too! Woo hoo!
What would I call the use of a new vaccine in a pandemic? A great idea. Its a new virus, lets use a new vaccine that matches it.
What do you call the flu vaccine every year? A yearly experiment?

No. I still don't get it. From what I have read on here, propaganda = "I don't want to understand the science, but someone is out to get me. I think. I have been told. I have been told to think. But not by the government, by other free-thinkers."
What do you call the flu vaccine every year? A yearly experiment?
Yes!
Got my first ever flu vaccine this year, had to get it for permission to work because of new Covid rules.
Had the worst flu I've ever had.
Hmm.
I'm gonna go back to treating flu with a honey and lemon tea with a dash of thalidomide and pseudoephedrine
