I wonder when we are going to get to at least 70% fully vaccinated and 88% having had at least one dose?

I suspect that there are a lot of people here that want both things, being able to avoid getting vaccinated and opening up the economy. Is there a current example of a country like that with low rates of vaccination and opening up and still keeping case rates low?

Give it some time, plenty of peaks & troughs over the last 18 months. Could consider the UK opened up at the start of a predictable reduction/slide after a peak. Also need to plug in there are still 20k new cases per day being recorded and deaths bottomed out at approx the same time last season. The next upswing might not be seen for a while, previous trends cycles would indicate autumn, 6-8weeks time. If not, the UK vaccination program is working or they are simply through the worst of it.

Regardless of what the layman's or expert's agenda is, only time will tell.

I think it's pretty simple - facemasks are the problem... UNLESS you are prepared to throw them away and put on a new sterile one several times a day

face masks aren't there to stop you inhaling the nasties. They are there to stop everyone breathing on everyone else, by redirecting/stifling the outward direction of exhaling. Whilst its not a good idea to keep wearing one continuously weeks on end, day to day is perfectly reasonable.

If the answer was that simple, surely the "medical experts" would have figured it out. Instead they spout the scaremongering propaganda.

What would a government need to do if there were a pandemic that was dangerous and they wanted to prompt their citizens into action? Say there were something similar to Ebola, but treatable by a vaccine. How would they do that in order to make people get vaccinated before they were infected?

How would you distinguish the two? I.e. how can you tell decent information and warnings from propaganda?

Is it just the interpretation of information in one's own mind, or something else?

I am actually interested in how this pans out. Clearly we get more cases in ICU over time and the breakdown of vaccinated versus unvaccinated would be interesting to show a trend.

On the face of it it would be hard to separate the vulnerable and pre-existing conditions to see what the effect was, but if you see certain data it would be more meaningful. In other words if you saw people that were otherwise healthy getting Covid and ending up in ICU, the proportion of vaccinated versus unvaccinated would be more meaningful.

Either that or 'they' went back and changed the test results and vaccination stats for all the people in the ICU.... yeah, that's it!

Well, if it helps you at all, it was the opposite of what that clip showed. All of them were unvaccinated except for the one that had one shot.

Why do you say that it makes sense if they are vaccinated? I understand why it makes sense if they are unvaccinated, but I don't understand your point of view.

Yeah, no doubt we will end up with strains where the vaccine does little or nothing at all. Logic suggests that if you have a lot of people vaccinated but still a pool of infected people, the only strains that can do well are the ones that aren't targeted by your body which has been trained by various vaccines.

I think from the get-go people have said it will end up requiring booster shots as the virus changes. Lets hope it morphs into one where its relatively benign and needs no vaccine.

It is interesting on your data that the vaccinated still seem to have some protection, albeit not that much. Its also good to see them separate out those that have previously been infected to make the data more useful.

I wonder if it still means there is a benefit of being vaccinated? Are these people that are vaccinated seeing less severe reactions? I guess we will see that data over time.

You do realise that an awful lot of people have suffered horrendous injuries after being injected with these concoctions and that the mortality rate is steadily climbing?

And we are only seven months into the experiment.

What are the horrendous injuries? Yes, people have died. I do consider that horrendous and don't wish it on anyone. Maybe they shouldn't have taken any precautions at all in the beginning and 'let it rip'. I think people in this cocoon here would be thinking differently if they had.

Have you read any of the articles about people that 'thought it was the flu' and died at a young age? Horrendous.

Back on track of who will or won't get the vaccination, Qantas has adopted an IATA app to prove you have been vaccinated or tested prior to boarding an international flight. Too bad for those who choose not to have either, I guess your staying put.

So then ... complete, total, and endless lockdowns are the only solution aren't they. Why even bother with the risks of taking a vaccine that won't protect you from infection ...when your government has decided that even getting infected is a bridge too far?

Nothing here makes sense. Most vaccines don't fully protect against catching and spreading, and yet premiers and leaders calling for zero cases are holding vaccines -- and medicine in general -- to a higher standard than is ever possible.

Now the question can only becomes ... who benefits from all this catastrophising?
