The end of General Discussion

Once again, yet another topic descends into the usual anti-vax, conspiracy argument.

As we keep saying; plenty of other sites for that.

At this stage, it's looking likely that General Discussion will go the same was as Heavy Weather and get removed, or perhaps any member who doesn't have majority of posts talking about water sports will need to find another outlet.

Some people are actually creating logins via VPN purely to post in general discussion. Please - for those with axes to grind about vaccines, politics, religion, etc, perhaps consider holding a physical sign up at an intersection, you'll get more of an audience than by posting to the same 15 people in this forum.

There are lots of other sites out there, if you want to post about the above, please use them ... we can do without the content & the administration of arguments, and abusive emails that we're part of the Third Reich. We're over it.

Maybe we could have a forum section that is exclusively for these discussions, to keep them out of shooting the breeze? it could be limited to people who had a certain number of posts already to prevent spam and circumventing account suspensions.

it would just need a catchy name.

and maybe also some way of expressing your thoughts on a post other than a green thumb? Like maybe the opposite of a green thumb, whatever that would be.

Those that want "general discussion" can post their anti.....everything conspiracies on twitter and youtube chat where those types get their education from and breed .

OK I was one who fell for the crap in that thread and responded to the CT rubbish haha.... still, sorry.

But as I've said before, take it further ...... Seabreeze is very very under-moderated compared to other fora. The best ones I've frequented (different hobby) have near enough same rules, but the mods are (seemingly) more active with reading and if a new member seems to just be a d!ck they're canned.

Give us a .sig (it shows up the fakes sometimes, and enables new folks to ask the right people a question)
If members have the stated aim of talking crap, and continually take shots at another discipline / sport they would literally last 5mins in some other fora.... = ban hammer.
If people continually have a crack at other members without provocation = ban hammer.
Red thumbs was great - some people dished out hundreds to another person, shows they're a c0ck = ban hammer
Only ever posting on one topic (like 10x threads started and 6 are about how bad a kite brand is, or about the latest CT) = ban hammer.


The old farts will remember Brucie and how he completely destroyed a newsgroup and a forum or two, just trolling. This is a bunch of aussies in the same hobby / cohort / near enough same socioeconomic class. What have we got to be nasty to one another about?

The whole point of Seabreeze is Watersports. Head over to a car forum and start new topics every week about knitting or child care .. it's just not appropriate. If you want to talk kitesurfing, in the kitesurfing section, you're more than welcome.

The challenge right here, right now, is that there are a bunch of people constantly pushing their agenda (this forum is where 90% of their posts are), and Seabreeze is just not that serious. We're about the good part of life - Watersports - surfing, kiting, windsurfing. And these people are forever reporting each other for abuse. It builds hatred, and we're having to manage it all. We're over it.

We ask them to stop, we get hate mail, fake accounts. It's ridiculous.

We're a Watersports site. If you want to talk kitesurfing, go to the kitesurfing forum and talk kitesurfing. Same with foiling, sup, whatever. You're more than welcome.

It's pretty simple. There are thousands of other places to push your vaccine viewpoints. Seabreeze just ain't one of them. Head down the pub, tell your co-workers, strangers in the street, your spouse, Facebook, twitter .. just not here.

Fun Fact: We delete spammers of bitcoin, drugs, and scams every other day. Nobody has ever complained of the removal of that stuff. No outcry of "censorship", "freedom of speech". And yet we remove them for the same reason: the content is not appropriate to these forums.

Fair enough if you delete other political stuff bitcoin spam ect, I don't see that because you are working hard cleaning it out. Seabreeze have a lot of interesting, smart and health conscious outdoorzie people that can be a good read.
If some day tho, we do end up living with a social credit system make sure you tell your grandchildren what side of history you were on.
I will still click your ads then, but only on days with green arrows.
