Here is your task:
To dig a hole in earth 250mm- 450mm diameter and 1 to 2.5 meters deep.
For retaining wall steel post , in difficult terrain where not big machinery could access.
Full of stones, rocks and roots.
1. Once I have my new electric auger the rest should be easy
Now hard soil and clay is converted into dust.

2.Just walk to Bunning and get one of those pincers .$80

3.Not what i hope for. So simple vacuum should do. $90

Not enough succsion. So I plug three of those simultaneously.
3 x 1400w each = 4200Wates power

better but still not enough

4. Ozito will blower, used as vac.

Not bad , but still not enough
So I did bought 3 and plug in parallels
3 x 2400W = 7.2kW.
Need more power on single phase and 15amp expansion cord.
Plenty of noise
5. So maybe one of those petrol powered will be better ?

Converter to suck in.
Better, you need to start, shut, star, shut,
plenty of fumes and noise.
6. That is it ! Centrifugal fan.
2400w , single phase,
extremely quiet and so powerful to blow your mind !

cost me $150 and trip to Warwick to buy second hand.

but it was worth it.
Now I could suck 70 kg or dirt in one go.
leaf or stones, small rocks even water.

a) there are actually two bins sit inside one another - as single will be squashed by negative pressure
b)centrifugal force on intake inside the bin ensure the exhaust is clean.
c) additional steel mesh on exhaust ensure safety that not bigger degree then 2mm could be suck is to fan.

HAPPY SUCKING !!

You could have done it with your bare hands in a fraction of the time it took you to make that.

Digging by hand ?
That is not a fun!
But you are right, sometimes is takes me 10x more to make new tool or machine then task .

Here multiply amount of holes 100x and see the magnitude of my task.
Definitely was worth it.
I have few more inventions to show in this job - re retaining walls.

for example : simple task like drilling a hole in steel post beams? '
20mm diameter hole in 8mm thick steel post while standing on the ladder 2 meter above ground ?

Good one macro...

In Perth sands, I use a shop vac for digging holes post holes... so fast, so easy.

Was putting in a new fence a few years ago, bloke was digging with a post hole pincer, hit a bit of rubble and was like, 'aawww, gunna have to go and get the drill'... I was like, hold my water, grabbed my shop vac and solved the rubble issue in <5mins. The guy decided he was gunna vacuum all his post holes after that as it is 10 times faster per hole.

the point is to make device available for everybody for lowest possible cost.
My prototype vacc could be made professionally and sold $300-500 brand new , retail at Bunnings.
To make clean up around your property, sucking leaf's, dirt, grass, etc
And fit Macro Principle: It works in real life .

The problem is that most of domestic and industrial vacuum cleaners are designed to:
a) create noise
b) eat plenty of electric power
That is because there are al based on the oldest principle of most primitive centrifugal fan designed and utilized hundred years ago for first vacuums.Efficiency and noise is the last of concern in every design you could buy , cheap or expensive.
If you look at acoustic, that is perfect device to create sound wave rather then succsion.
Could be used as car horn or in locomotive.

Properly design fan avoid those mistakes and I know only one exaple of domestic vaccum that doesn't make a noise.
I am happy owner of one

this vacuum is almost noise less

Why wouldn't you just go to Kennards or Coates and hire a vacuum trailer ?

Takes less time, cost less money and does a better job than all that above.

.....I am starting to get the feeling most of these Macro inventions are not really solving real problems nobody has solved before, but just coming up with a worse way of doing something, because Macro isn't aware how everybody else does it.

How on earth anyone would decide the problem with one man augers is that they don't have a 240v extension lead cable dragging across the ground waiting to get tripped over, tangled up and electocute people you I don't know.

Only problem with them that I can ever see is that they are fundamentally ****e and that a mini-digger / dingo with auger or a hydro-vac is a million times better.

Pretty sure they invented the petrol one man post auger to eliminate the stupidity of an extension cable. Macro-solution is to add it back in. Why not also remove the rubber vibration dampers, put a nice big offset weight on one side and make the end of the auger really rounded - you could reach ultimate uselessness like that.

If you want holes in the columns then ...

dah-dah-dummmmmm.....

why not get the steel supplier to punch them in with their big, purpose designed and very efficient hole puncher-in-er when you buy the steel ???

Hey, you could even get them punched prior to galvanizing, that way you don't have a rusty galvanized post.

No hang on - here's an idea - why not buy plain steel mail order from China and then 'invent' a galvanizing bath comprising a 240v extension lead draped into a tub of molten zinc, heated up with a blower from a solar chainsaw in a kitchen sink, using a fan hat as PPE ?

You could save paying for somebody else to galvanize it that way. Win-win.

The hole in the post serve for reinforcing reo bars , across,
encased in poured concrete later on.
No need for galvanizing
Beside all made individually onsite, required custom measurements every time.

I know you way of thinking,
why not to get a tradies to get all this work for you,
then go to the beach doing what likes the most , fishing or sailing.
Why to bother with hiring any stuff or tools,
if can buy apartment on 20 level block with beautiful see view to watch and TV later for a change.

Why even to bother to invent anything, as possibly everything that could already was !!

BTW.
I still have 2 petrol powered augers and having the option to use electric, never had any doubt which one is better for me.
Constant fumes, humming , ON OFF start and shut, start, horizontal drilling,. turning soil in vege patch.
I had even OPAL MINERS fascinated by my electric tool. Tell them to run 2 stroke 50 meter underground !!

beside I am not selling here anything, just sharing my own experience, you are free not to read...

If you are pouring concrete 2 meters up in air (where you were trying to drill holes in a column off a ladder) can I suggest you invent :

1) scaffold
2) formwork

Both have been around for a while, I believe the ancient Egyptians may have utilized one or the other, but feel free to re-invent them.

Take it from me (on an internet comments place) you will need both to pour concrete 2 metres up in the air (assuming you haven't also invented gravity defying concrete that has infinite shear strength whilst also flowing).

Thus - just an idea, but why not install this prior to drilling the holes and then you can use the scaffold for access and are not require to work from a ladder and it is just like drilling holes at ground level.

..Oh yeah, most people might also weld rebar to columns, although I very much doubt even that is needed from a structural engineering perspective.

Why do you want rebar passing through columns for landscaping concrete 2m up in the air ??? building some sort of shrine and need an awesome sculpture of St Carantoc to top it off ?

Running an extension lead and 240v AC brushed electric motor 50m underground would be about as sensible as using 2 stroke.

Can I suggest you invent an air drill for such scenarios. You'd have to invent a brand new way of powering the air drill that has never been thought of before.

Maybe .... get this for an idea... you could use air ?

You are all a bunch of nay-sayers.

Hah look at that weirdo with his noisy horseless carriage! I bet he gets killed by that thing and who wants to ride without horses! Crazy!

That said, I am not sure they are 'inventions' as such, but just tools.

I was wondering about the 240vac post hole digger, but maybe its safer in a way. Weren't there a few people that have been killed or scalped by these things in the past and at least a 240v one should be able to stop instantly unlike a petrol powered one which probably keeps going for a while.

Do you think you could invent a vaccine? Maybe one that works out of the box for a brand new virus that we have never seen before and has no side-effects, not even ones similar to the actual virus? Get working!

2) formwork

Yep, I invented my own formwork.

Anyway, arguing with you will be like
trying to convince anybody's wife
why do you need to buy a new drill
since you have already many tools in your workshop.

and vice verse

trying to understand
why she needs a new cupboard
to keep even more pots,
since one glass or plastic bowl+ microwave
is all I need in life.

Then converting guest room
into next pantry
to keep even more supplies
may not be stroke of genius
anyhow.

That is great idea.
but since developing new drug or vaccine may cost several million dollars at least
and I am giving my ideas for free
the only way to make this happen
is Lotto Power Ball win.
Believe/ trust me,
I am trying hard.
Once I get this Jackpot
the rest seems to be doable and easy.

as far as I know Earth is already surrounded by vacuum.
Indeed, strange a bit that nobody was suck in into space already....

maybe all is needed is a small switch? to turn ON ?

Really? Are you sure that the Earth is surrounded by a vacuum? Sure, it's really low pressure, but is it a vacuum?

Anyway, we are talking about vacuum cleaners, clearly, and one the size of the Earth. Where is it!

This is a part where things are getting to be a bit complicated.
because
According to Einstein there not such thing like gravitational force
but
bent space only.

In such case Earth could be completely flat and the rest is optical illusion.

to illustrate;
if you imagine flat surface and then bent a space around , what you could see ?

think fish eye camera lens

One of my next invention should be Social Media Black List.
Lets imagine that on given forum with semi permanent list of attendants / users
some individuals are predisposed to attack other without reason, just from pure hatred.

No arguments , comments or explanation could rectify or help.

So in mine idea , should be place where people could freely declare to hate somebody, just to avoid any confusion.

Under Macro Enemies some people could subscribe instantly:
-bob
-fN
-screen name
_caran
-chris
-few others

We could create also category for Neutrals and even Friends category.
To clarify our system is designed to works one way only.

For example if ScreenName declare itself as mortal enemy, Macro could respond with Neutral or even better Ignore category.Such system could work on bigger scale with People befriending pop stars - ScreenName could befriend of Biber and same time enemy of Putin and Dalay Lama.
In real life system works , in politics in particular by Lobbies, but that usually require some monetary follow up ( both ways of course)

In future it could be quite interesting statistics to read. People here with longest list of enemies, some with friends only ( like Mods for example) , people ignore the most.

Wow, i made the enemy list?
I am not sure, but i will accept the award as proof that i look at your ideas with a critical eye.

Thanks!

(Hey does anyone know how to get off the Macro-Enemy list? I thought I would be okay defending his latest inventions, but apparently not, it takes more. Anyone else here in the same boat and stressing about this too? I thought Carantoc would be there too, but he must be loved by Macro. That 'caran' person though is clearly in the bad books for critiquing the ideas even though it was asked for...)

Edit: Would it help if I told you I was half chinese and loved Chinese takeaway?
