Hey loggie
I had a quick look because I was curious who the "trump" voters were myself.
This website was ok...
www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2016/11/09/behind-trumps-victory-divisions-by-race-gender-education/
There are of course others.

Interestingly, saying that white males over 50 are trump voters is not strictly correct, as the same number voted for Romney in 2012 (according to exit polls). I guess it is a fact that they did though since you are loving facts. Edit:but it is probably fairer to say that they are republican voters first and foremost.

The "trump voter" that won him the election or saw the most dramatic change from previous years according to exit polls were "white, non college educated".

So my take away message is that an educated public make more informed and logical decisions

Elites. Look at your central bankers and those that own these privatised institutions. Then look at the owners of large global corporations that have a lobbying interest, career politicians, regulators and anyone who serves to gain economic rent through governmental policies. The parasites that don't generally produce anything but suck on the nipple of phoney money, cheap credit, globalisation and the complete regulatory increasing centralised power.

Remember just like athletes, technology, nearly every facet of human endeavour these guys have just got far more sophisticated and better at what they do. The modern feudal lords of our time are the best ever historically speaking.

Unfortunately the vampires have sucked too much blood from the real economy and the slaves are getting restless.

Trust me you'd rather not know anyway it's so damn depressing especially from a historical perspective. Stay dumb the village idiot does t have many problems.

... and then you start looking at the IMF ..... oh boy. The big boys of feudal globalisation.

Sorry to rain on your parade Eppo, but the "elites" are the people that voted for Trump.

exit polls have clearly shown that the people that voted for trump are mainly medium income to high income, white, mainly men, with no college education.

The also show Trumps vote was lower than Romneys, but Clinton vote was way down on Obamas.

Again, your man won, and good luck to you......but it'd be good if we could use facts

Incorrect
the elites are generally left wing ( democrat ) types who are holier than thou .....these are the ones who are in shock, disbelief that their candidate lost because how could they because they are so right.
They are the ones protesting in the street because they cannot accept the majority decision.
They are the ones who scream racist or bigot at the mere mention of a negative fact regarding a ethnic minority
They are the ones who scream homophobe ( or similar )if your opinions regarding LGBTIQ people differ from theirs.
They are the ones who feel they are the most progressive, most entitled, and most importantly the most right.

The elite are not defined by a level of wealth but by a perceived higher intelligence both intellectual and emotional.
They generally live in inner city bubbles and have no time for the opinions of those outside these bubbles.
They are often the very vocal minority.... who have probably just realised the silent majority are learning to roar.

No, that's ok Harry, this election provides material for anybody to assert any sort of agenda no matter what. If you have an anti political correctness angle you can claim this election vindicates your agenda. Elites, globalisation, new world order, Clinton the criminal etc etc. whatever your little angle you can try to push it.

but.

facts are facts.

the trump voter is generally, a white man who earns 50 grand a year or more and is middle aged or older.

Funny isnt it. I'm sure there are rust belt, x auto worker, living on the poverty line type people in these stats, but the idea that Trump is for the low paid, the poor, the disadvantaged etc is wrong.

You missed the point loggy... it not necessarily that Trump is for the "low paid, poor and disadvantaged " you have trump because the "low paid , poor and disadvantaged are sick of being TOLD how they should ACT how they should THINK and how they should FEEL by the elitest left.
A middle class Christian family working in the so called rust belt who due to their beliefs don't necessarily support homosexual relationships are told / screamed at they are wrong that they are homophobes.
A middle class working family in Texas who's home had been broken into in a violent home invasion by ( lets say Mexican immigrants ) for the third time, along with 3 other families in their street form a view on Mexican immigration that is sympathetic to Trumps preaching.... for doing this they are screamed at as being racists bigots by lefty elitests in Maine ( who met a Mexican once in a Taco Bell)
These are this millions of people across America who have an equal right to their opinion as their counter opposites.... it's just they don't force their opinions onto everyone else as the elitest left have... Trump has given them that voice they they felt was unheard

That will fall on deaf ears.

It is as simple as this. If your opinion differs to the one touted by the party you are wrong.

End of story.

Well, you would like it to be the end of the story........because you don't have a leg to stand on.

Harry, I repeat, the poor, the lowly paid, the unemployed, the people making less than 50,000 bucks a year voted strongly for Clinton.

the middle class/ upper classes voted for trump. That tells you everything.

What the fk has this got to do with kitesurfing, go and fkn rant some where else Eppo, I can read about this everywhere else this morning.

It has nothing to do with kite surfing and that is why it is in the General section of the forum. There is more to life than kite surfing and this is where we talk about it.

This thread WAS originally posted in the kitesurfing section. Laurie moved it and rightly so.

Living here in the US and following the campaign and results very closely, I have no idea where you came up with that "fact".
As far as I can tell, that stat hasn't been reported anywhere that I can find, maybe you have some sort of special source, if so, let us know.
So far all we know is the breakdown of voting by race, party affiliation, and the most important issues that drove the voting, but nowhere can I find a breakdown by income. I expect that to be known eventually as the research behind the voting continues, but I haven't seen it yet.

Depending on which source you use, the one issue that seems to be close to the top of all the lists is jobs and the economy, which may lend itself to contradict your assertion, considering who won.
Trump did double the voting for him by the minorities over the last two republican presidential candidates in 2008 and 2012.

I actually lecture at university in a science field and shock/ horror don't believe any of your post.
attacking the player, is too common with pinkoes
Be brave enough to have a contrarian opinion to your mates, it takes strength, I think, you may lack.

So you "claimed" to be a lecturer at a university of some description, and teach in a "science field" ? Sure I believe you., boof. I pity the "imaginary" students whom you may or may not have though. Having a lecturer who is so against the academia is a worry, innit ? So why do you bother to waste your time teaching those "imaginary" student to be better equipped in life, not only academically, but also to be a better human being? If you are indeed what you claimed to be, then I venture to say you do it for the money. It certainly pays better than the dole you are entitled to, and possibly destined for, I reckon.

Being better educated means more than just grades on your report card, but it is about how you will behave in the society. How you treat people. How you help each other. How you don't rush out and spray everyone with your ill-thoughtout poison like Trump and those hard-right conservatives do. You don't seem to be much thoughts in your rant. You have nothing behind your arguments. You just let fly, and not thinking it may reflect poorly on you. Now you claimed to be a learned person, and let's supposing you are, then I can conclude that you have wasted tax payers' money.

Oh, one last thing please...Since you asserted that education is a waste of money and time, and all it will do is to create a bunch of pinkoes and trouble makers, why then you bother with getting one in the first place? Aren't you contradicting yourself ?

I don't mind opinions, as long as they are valid and have substance, and most importantly, "considered" opinions. I conclude that your rant fits in the garbage bin, just like Trump's. Since you come out firing like a charging bull without a clue, then I consider it necessary to not let you have it all your way. Have you taken your medications yet ?

I know Harry, predicting election results in a voluntary voting system seems nuts to me. Who knows how many voters are going to be motivated enough to turn up on election day. You can see that in the results of the voter turn out this time. If Clinton gets the turn out that Obama got in 2012 then she wins easily. Not that I'm having a bitch about it, Your man won fair and square. I'm just stunned and so disappointed that there are so many Seppos that are seduced by Trumps message.

I just had the privilege to speak with a Pom this afternoon. He is in his late fifty, possibly even 60, judging by his oversize pot belly. From one thing lead to another, inevitably we talked about Trump and Brexit. To him, it is the most logical thing to have Trump at the helm. Why? Because people are sick of having to be told how to live their lives. The same goes for Brexit. He reckoned the Poms will be so much better now that they no longer have to listen to the EU. I asked about the benefits the Poms get by being in the EU. He dismissed any of such. All he knew is the contribution UK made to EU. Most importantly, he reckons the Poms will NOT have to listen to the foreigners, ie. EU.

I mentioned that UK is not that united when you break it down, as London is strongly for the EU. But to my surprise, he didn't even know that London voted very differently to the rest of UK. I explained it was to do with London being the financial hub for the EU. But he reckons it will still be the same after Brexit.

So to put it in a nutshell, when people had decided to get out, no amount of facts and details will change their mind. I liken the Trump and Brexit as a divorce. When it comes to such a rotten state that you want nothing else but a divorce, you stop being rational. You stop listening. You just want out. The blue-collar working folks used to vote for the Dem, but the decades of jobs losses and wage growth stagnation, these folks want a divorce from the establishment. Regardless of what Hilary told them, they are not listening. I doubt they care too much of what Trump said either. All they want is a change...ie. A divorce from whatever it is they are currently in.

Whether Trump will deliver won't be crystalized for a few years yet. He has already backed away from the "scorch earth" politics he preached. When the wall is finally erected, and the many off-shore businesses return to USA to employ those unemployed, and the swamp is drained, we can only wait...But then again, the emperor with no cloth just might be Trump himself !

Why doesn't anyone rail against the rightist elites like Trump, Rhinehart, Murdoch who own us and tell us how to think?

Gina gets upset. Gina spends money against a government. Government loses next election. These people need to be stopped. They are only interested in building their already obscene wealth by stripping it from the middle class and paying the workers a pittance.

These elites need to be taken to task and start sharing the money they get from us more equitably.

When the people get sick of the rich, revolution is in the air.

I know, It's weird how "the left" are being labeled with the "elite" tag. It's a cunning concept......painting your enemies with the description that describes you the best. It also sucks in the YouTube conspiracy types who are always trying to discover more about the secret forces that they think rule us.

Painting the opposition with the label that best sums up you? Mmmmm. I don't think anyone has called the Left paranoid redneck ill educated fantasists living in la-la land ignoring any semblance of reality recently have they?

Oh wait a minute...maybe they have...GLOBAL WARMING is a conspiracy of the left.

Even if I always thought it was caused by raging capitalist industrustrialists...but I guess those devious lefties have a finger in every pie...why they are probably in charge of Murdoch, Rhinehart, Trump et al...now there's a thought.

Trump did double the voting for him by the minorities over the last two republican presidential candidates in 2008 and 2012.

here you go

He ha ha the same people who told you Hillary had an 85% chance of winning less than 12hours before voting commenced....... based on their "polls"

Speaking of the New York Times, this is just too rich~

New York Times publisher vows to 'rededicate' paper to reporting honestly

Published November 12, 2016

The publisher of The New York Times penned a letter to readers Friday promising that the paper would “reflect” on its coverage of this year’s election while rededicating itself to reporting on “America and the world” honestly.

Arthur O. Sulzberger Jr., the paper’s embattled publisher, appealed to Times readers for their continued support.

“We cannot deliver the independent, original journalism for which we are known without the loyalty of our subscribers,” the letter states.

New York Post columnist and former Times reporter Michael Goodwin wrote, "because it (The Times) demonized Trump from start to finish, it failed to realize he was onto something. And because the paper decided that Trump’s supporters were a rabble of racist rednecks and homophobes, it didn’t have a clue about what was happening in the lives of the Americans who elected the new president.

Sulzberger's letter was released after the paper’s public editor, Liz Spayd, took the paper to task for its election coverage. She pointed out how its polling feature Upshot gave Hillary Clinton an 84 percent chance as voters went to the polls.

She compared stories that the paper ran about President-elect Donald Trump and Clinton, where the paper made Clinton look functional and organized and the Trump discombobulated.

Spayd wrote, “Readers are sending letters of complaint at a rapid rate. Here’s one that summed up the feelings succinctly, from Kathleen Casey of Houston: “Now, that the world has been upended and you are all, to a person, in a state of surprise and shock, you may want to consider whether you should change your focus from telling the reader what and how to think, and instead devote yourselves to finding out what the reader (and nonreaders) actually think.”

She wrote about another reader who asked that the paper should focus on the electorate instead of “pushing the limited agenda of your editors.”

“Please come down from your New York City skyscraper and join the rest of us.”

Sulzberger—who insisted that the paper covered both candidates fairly-- also sent a note to staffers on Friday reminding the newsroom to “give the news impartially, without fear or favor.”

“But we also approach the incoming Trump administration without bias,” he said.

Well Trump says he is still is going to build a wall, although maybe only a fence in some places.

I'd say he will do nothing positive to address man made climate change.
This is even though at least half of his supporters believe in man made climate change.

Non-conclusive, too early, too small of a sample, and only one (questionable) source. The NYT is the goto paper of record for liberals only, they have a very biased reputation. They indorsed the liberal candidates across the board, the last time they indorsed a conservative for president was in 1956, for Eisenhower.

It is not going to be just any wall though. Anything worth doing, Trump does it better. That is according to his own assessment of himself. He reckoned he knows how to build a good wall, and not just any wall. I thought he promised a "biggest, tallest, strongest, inpenetrable" wall, and make Mexico to pay for it throughout the enire election ? Now that it is only a fence, may be Mexico will relent and pay for it ? Ha ha !

Wether it is going to be Hilary Clinton or Trump, voters will be disappointed in one way or other. We know the f-up Hilary made in her years on incompetence and carelessness, Trump is still yet to show his true colour. His business is only a tiny reflection of what the man is capable or incapable of. The business of the entire nation, plus the weight of the entire world on his shoulders, we will soon find out whether he is all talks and twitters, or he is actually a hombre with substance.

My bet is it will be business a usual. The banks and financial institutions will rule, Special interets groups will dictate how far he can move. The Israelis are splashing their joys around because of what he promised. But can he ?

Both Obama and Kevin 07 used the internet to rally their supporters via social media and
collecting small donations. It worked,we were stuck with years of idiotic tax and spend which
brought us to the present day. Shorten used technology with a clever scare campaign that
almost changed the govt. via sms. It will never happen again. The great unwashed and the
conservatives have now belatedly woken up. Yes pinkoes your weapons will in future be used
against you, no amount of hysterical bleating will ever recreate the last 8 years of spending
and idealism, the majority now have to pay off. Get out of my grandkids pockets you bleeding
heart, lbtgtixyz whatever climate change bludgers. And by the way your so called superior
knowledge via education provided by hard workers you despise doesnt count for nought.
Its called democracy, the best system on earth, far better than your lefty ideals.

Not sure why some of you are discussing left versus right? Way off the state of play...

the lobbyist and other powerful vested interests (that essentially control government policy now) don't give two hoots what side of politics (apparently) you are on.

Quite agree with you, eppo. The right-wing nuts are gloating about the Trump win, and claimed it is a credit to their ideology. BUt it is not about ideologies. It is the SYSTEMS. One sad fact has emerged though, the filths that have been simmering just beneath the surface have burst through. I am talking about the racist elements. The mayor of West Virginia state resigned for agreeing with the tweet by another racist calling the First Lady "An ape on heels" !

If you scratch the surface hard enough...
