Don't worry France is firing up their old coal stations because they have shut down a nuclear reactor. So they are doing their best to increase the CO2.
Also as mentioned nothing on a large scale gets manufactured in France any more.
Try the made in China test. Don't touch or look at something made in China for 24 hrs.
The rest of the world can't bitch and complain about China's pollution whilst mass consuming from them.
Thats just my dumb ass opinion though.

Good article. Core paragraph below:

"Fessenheim's death sentence has been lifted and reimposed several times, but current president Emmanuel Macron eventually confirmed both units would go by 2020. Socialist politician S?gol?ne Royal made closing Fessenheim a priority during her post as environment minister, squeezing the decree through in her final days in office. This wasn't the only time her "green" decisions seem to have done more harm than good for the planet and human health. She also opposed a Paris-wide ban on domestic wood-burning stoves, describing the proposal as "a ridiculous measure," despite evidence showing it would save lives. The rising popularity of wood stoves has led to increased respiratory health issues in the French capital.Bizarrely, S?gol?ne Royal suggested at one point that Fessenheim should be replaced with a Tesla factory.."

The Green movement is increasingly just a front for socialist views. They care little about actually doing something about the environment when it gets in thier way of tearing down the establishment.

The elephant in the room almost nobody wants to acknowledge is population.
I think going forward, as regions are lifted out of an industrial state, populations will decrease. if it weren't for migration Australia's population would be decreasing. Typical first world.

Yep, climate change is our secondary problem. Just achieve ZPG across the globe and everything else will fall into place.

Not my choice.
I have been directly involved in manufacturing in Australia where possible for 42 years out of 45, only 3 in Asia.

I'm all for a shrinking and ageing population to prevent further climate and environmental damage

i mean, 50 year olds look hotter today than they did 10 years ago, right?

But China signed the Paris agreement so they are global environmental heros

Unless the agreement wasn't really about the environment

Is that per capita?...

... is the population of China more than North America, EU, UK, India, Japan and Aus combined ?

I'd suggest the answer to both questions is "no".

Excluding India in that list, which is the same size, it is actually twice as populous as all the rest combined.

Why even bother including Aus in that list?

China's population is 1,400,000,000
Australia's is 25,000,000
56:1

Australia is a rounding error.

Imagine 56 Sydneys throughout NSW, and 56 Melbournes throughout Victoria, somehow, and 56 Brisbanes in QLD. etc. etc. It's ****ing huge!

I think very few people are aware of what happens in China and where this economic growth started. It's worth looking at their governments successes to gain an insight into why the growth took place.
"In 2015, the government of the People's Republic of China initiated the "Decisions of the Central Committee of the CCP and the State Council on Winning the Battle of Poverty Eradication" with the aim to lift 70 million of the rural population above the poverty line until 2020."
This has been an almost universal success, however to achieve this goal, the previously unforeseen environmental impacts have been it's payoff.
Have a search on Google for China's environmental success stories - there are many - and you might find that their current goal for their people is for clean air and clean water. China leads the way on many environmentally friendly and sustainable initiatives. They currently manufacture all the electric taxi's that London has demanded come into action. They also manufacture much of the Worlds solar panels and are starting to decommission fossil fuel power stations. Don't be fooled by the media machine that only wants to feed you one side of the story. Go looking for facts to the contrary. You can spin the facts whatever way you want, but please be open to looking for a different reality.

They are starting to decommission fossil fuel power stations....Funny everything I read states the opposite. Even our pollys speak freely about our coal supporting Chinas new coal fired plants.
people are just dirty china has the world by the short & curlys and they let them. But it was fantastic when the GFC was bringing the world to its knees and Australians bathed in our coal exportation to China.
