It will be interesting to see which way the flag is facing right now. There is not much wind on the Moon but lander thrusters should do some breeze to sail 1 meter away. Maybe the flag is standing, which could be a miracle or was thrown away. Chinese YoTo should give us the answer soon.

or maybe there is some breeze of fresh vacuum anyway or kids playing with my flag here

Looks like enough wind to get the 10m kite out buzz yeewww

There won't be a conventional war with Russia or China, that wouldn't be profitable.

I know how it works now. You could not force US parliament to spend money on a project or any action unless you have a word "WAR" in it.

Regan Star Wars (lasers in space if nobody remembers)
Bush2 famous War on Terror
Trump Trade War
Obama/ War on Poverty
Clinton female: War on inequality

Should we proclaim War on/with Moon? Moonwars ? SpaceWar ? in order to have space exploration funds?

So here I did two trips on my spaceship soucer recently.
One to the past
Many of you wouldn't exist today if not a FREE LOVE

next to the future.
The best burning book in the Year 2035 is :

US president 2035 is publically burning books on White House lawns.
"This socialist propaganda is going to ruin our budget and country ! (and many of my friends in military business) "

Would YOU spend all rest of your life with/ on Mars?
if somebody offered you a free trip, accommodation, food work but not return to Earth?

I gotta file this thread under "anything is possible, if you don't know what you're talking about".
I'm with Mark on this, but I will agree with Macro on one thing, why no more Moon exploration?
We should have a full-on science research center on there by now, at least. Too much money being spent on Mars that is so far away, it's impractical.

As I said, to research what?
It has no atmosphere and is a lump of rock n dust. Brought back 400kg of it and ascertained its no good to us.
Can't see too much to research there.

The true nutters say there was aliens there and they told us to piss off and not come back.

I reckon we should give up on SETI and spend that on going down into our hollow earth where the alien lizard people live. Presumably in cramped conditions as the earth is flat hey Pete.

Living and creating things (drugs, foods, new metals) in a very light gravity environment, which may not be possible in our strong gravity environment.
Outer space viewing from a stationary high powered telescope(s) on the surface, that would be easier and probably be cheaper to maintain and improve (assuming that we already have a station on the surface), better than Hubble.
Mining for cheese,,,,,,, okay, for other things.
Because you mentioned it, a much better place for SETI, no atmospheric static.
A space port for future space travel, complete with training facilities. Rockets would need much less boost from there.
Studying Earth from a permanent distant place, a better perspective possibly. Both environmentally and socially.
The ultimate place for a prison.

I could go on, but you get the idea, the possibilities are endless.
Mars???? Nah.

Many of the flat earthers believe that the universe as told by NASA is BS.
The sun and moon circle the stationary earth. It certainly appears that way from 120 000 feet.

I don't know what your problems are with PeterPan.
I am very proud to be able to imagine almost everything.
Regardless it is realistic, possible or not.
I must say that imagining a flat world could be quite hard. If this guy could and even live in his 2D world good on him.
At the very end, we are all looking for a Truth in life.
If somebody can't or don't want to, it is not our goal to convince somebody suddenly to our Only Truth

No good? Plenty of interesting stuff to do on the moon itself, and use for a base to do other interesting stuff. Be good place to launch other missions from too. A base on the moon would be far more useful than the ISS.

How is it any different to the ISS?
You can't plant anything unless its inside the habitat. We've learned how to account for no /less gravity.
The only difference would be the poo builds up outside the facility rather than floating away.

I don't see a moon base being useful unless we eventually develop a propulsion system that is so dangerous (like nasty radiation etc) that we have to launch it from the moon to avoid damage to earth / people when going to Mars or similar

Again, all of that can be done from a space station in orbit.
I am not saying a moon base would be useless, just that the fact we don't have one does not prove we never went there......
The CT idiots need to realise all the above is being done in the ISS so lack of moon base does not prove massive conspiracy.

Love your prison idea though.....

Exactly such system was developed a long time ago and never used for the reason you just mentioned.
Nuclear propulsion at tremendous power, that could lift whole Titanic.
But in the case of failure Chernobyl or ****shima means peanut.I will not be though using those on the Moon as we may have much better options there. You could speed up levitating electromagnetic train to the velocity required to run into space. That is only possible on the Moon due to lack or atmospheric resistance, but not on the Mars. Obviously solar powered and we could be completely Green on the Moon. No waste at all. That is also something from your beloved discipline, Guns, Mark.Just need a bit resizing.

^ aside from a cool place for a prison it would be the first step in terraforming and colonising other planets, that we can expand our species into space.

There's a chance this planet will get hit by an asteroid. Also, it won't last forever. Eventually we have to move. We have to start sometime,

Yep. Look , Australia was that final destination for criminals .. and now is the best place to live ..occupied be the kindest people in Solar System
One day they could rename our Moon .. Second Australia,,, Austrabis....
Since Moon isn't really a proper name and there are plenty of moons everywhere.
Obviously, there are other candidates considered around.
If Trump really will manage to send US boots and create the first 3 person colony, that could mean that in recognition of such achievement we could name our neighbor simply TRUMP.
A pair may then enjoy a seductive night at that park at full Trumplight.
Seabreeze will observe Trump tides.

Trumdask / dawn

Look how beautiful Trump is shining today.

Trumplight shine over our cities

and obviously famous Michael Jackson Trumpwalk !

The real reason China is attempting to get to the moon . . . . .

But it will all be in vain, as the FE's have that covered too, the real purpose of the Eifel Tower.

You could be right. If we only spread a Chinese noodle that is eaten every day then possibly reach Moon or even beyond.
Chinese could make a single noodle wire that will span from Earth to their Fast Food outlet on the Moon.
They could feed another billions Chinese colonist after another family planning upgrade 2 + 10 kids within decade or two.

Oh Ruper, How dare you to post that racist picture?

If the Black Man is going to land on the Moon 2020doesn't mean that Appollo program was just a whitewashed. Agree, it was an expensive program and exclusive but no black man was sent or women because it was too risky exercise at those times.

Let's imagine, In the case of rocket malfunction, there is room for only one to return to Earth and another must stay on the Moon. Unless no circumstances you could leave black man or even white women to die and save white.

Thinking about this in a different way, 'do we have to move'? So what if the Earth is hit by an asteroid and we all die out?

Will it matter personally to you if the human race no longer exists? You will be dead, I will be dead, and what does it matter? Does sending a small colony off to find another planet somehow save us as a species?

Looks like sex on the Moon was already tried out

www.syfy.com/syfywire/guy_steals_21_million_of

If only NASA management was smart ( as you could expect from rocket scientist) they would send Neil with another astronaut chick instead of the useless Buzz Aldrin.

We could have Lunar babies 40 years old today and plenty of interest from the public.
Apollo program died due to public boredom.I could promise you that direct TV transmission from inside the cabin on the Moon lander could bring more TV viewers then from a camera watching moonwalks or rides.Good Moon porn could have public interest for years.

Let's imagine the your appendix due to lower gravity becomes now 6 x bigger/longer on the Moon!

I could already imagine public glued to the screen, waiting for next transmittion for the Moon cabin.
or even outside

Points to you for guessing my emotional age

No, not in a depressing way, but, really, so what if the human race dies out?

I think we should try and go other places, just for something to do, but not at the expense of fixing this place up first before we move out.

You should apply for a presidential position within a certain superpower,
Because this type of thinking is typical. If can win next ballot nothing else matter. If any president drops into depression, suicidal mood we are all doomed. He will press a red button and take all human race with him to a better place. Or maybe you just thinking and talking about yourself here? Does it really matter if 1 of 8,500,000,000 individual representing human race wants to die?

I guess at such occasion remaining 8,499,999,999 human population would like to watch your suicide performed by a thermonulear bomb from a safe distance. Moon will be the just right place to watch fireworks here on Earth.Orbital ISS by any means is not safe and all crew will be fried instantly.
