Maybe 'blue' thumbs instead of 'red'. And have them pointing left and right, instead of up and down. Can't upset anyone then.

Comprehension not your strong point?

The most thumbs

Laurie listed who got the most

Who said red?

So the 'most' thumbs (red + green) means you're popular ??

lol.

I would have thought the most green thumbs meant you're popular or admired.

If you've collected the most thumbs (regardless of colour),

that can only mean you're prolific ... like your goodself,

a tragic forum-junkie of the highest order.

lol.

Geez, you are hung up on this aren't you?

He did not mean 'popular' he just meant the "most thumbed"
Popular has a few different meanings, go look it up. The one that means "admired" is not what Laurie said.

Anyway Loz, now you have done the most thumbed 10 members, tell us the most "modded" most deleted posts etc by member?

I actually don't understand anyone getting all upset over a red thumb, or preferring green thumbs only for that matter.
The thumb is the shortest squattiest digit on the hand.
Why all the sensitivity over something so tiny?
Shouldn't the days of the Roman gladiators be over by now?

Not to say we don't have our professional fragile victims in the states also, because we do.
People should just learn to harden the fu(k up.

Im guessing the people who have the most posts on this thread obviously are the ones who cry if they get "thumbed". lol

Just get rid of the thumbs altogether if crew are sooking.

Or if they need/thrive on their invisible interweb peers judging them, send them to twitter.

Some on here have very chubby short fingers and thumbs,
Does that mean they haven't fully evolved from an ape yet ????? lol
Judging by some of their ancient way of thinking in their posts, I'd say yes.

That's ok for someone that does not cop cyber bullying on a regular basis.

I love the new rules now. Bullying here will be a thing of the past, and those that try to circumvent it (aka @RPM, etc) they'll get banned.

It struck me on the weekend that this topic is only going to be read by people who red thumb, or visit the General discussion forum!

People who green thumb, or don't thumb at all probably aren't even aware anything has changed (apart from a sudden lack of red?!)

So given the high % of red-thumbers in here, discussion seems pretty balanced on whether the red thumbs stay or go.

How long will it go on for? Let's see! I added the thumbs in 2007 as an experiment, and we had them run for nine years.

I'm always open to input & ideas to make the place better.

Ha I initially read that to mean there was a chance the "red thumbers" could go (excommunicated) but realised you mean "red-thumbs"

I know personally that I get red thumbs sometimes just because it's me posting as opposed to the content of the post cause i'll be the first to admit I have rubbed a few (well maybe more than a few) people the wrong way. It's never bothered me although it'd be great to see the total numbers of likes/dislikes on posts in lieu of a red/green thumb bar that maxes out at 5 thumbs either way.

All in all it's only a minor issue to what is one of the best watersports forums.

Gorillaz aka Milsy
How is Seabreeze a public site? I looked on the asx and it's not listed and I'm pretty certain its copyright and I.P. sits with its developer & owner, a single entity i.e. Laurie. He allows us freely (and some way too easily) to access his privately owned site and in return earns a living from third party payments. I wish I had had the vision and know how to have developed it myself - cause if I had I would have spent a fortune blocking your IP address Milsy. You and a few others f%&king spoil what is a fantastic website. Red thumb that you tosser.

If the pimps are so worried about their ad-posts copping red thumbs,

I say their fears are totally misplaced.

The pimps should be more concerned about members ( other than themselves of course) having multiple usernames. lol.

An ad-post can get massively sabotaged by a bunch of rogue fakers merrily slagging off product.

But Laurie needs to be seen to be doing something about it, to appease those pesky pimps ...

so he decided to go with the soft (and easy) option of banning the reds.

You know, we have members like adolf who proudly boasts about how fake he is.

There's no shame.

He's even suggested it's ok to have a hundred logins.

OMG

I mean, how would you even be able to keep a tally of all the passwords that go with the 100 fake names.

How does that even work ?

If you're like most members, your login password is named after your pet.

I can picture RPM with his 8 or 9 cats roaming around his place,

some lounging and sunning themselves on the window sill,

while he fingers his keyboard pleasuring himself.

Nah, its pretty obvious. You read some posts and wonder why no one has red-thumbed them already. Sometimes there are just dumb posts.

Now, it just looks weird. If its only green thumbs, why comment on anything? If its all positive, its just background static. 'Yay team', is pretty boring. Its not going to turn us all into a bunch of easy going/we all get along people.

Even serial pests can't be red-thumbed!

Yup. Block Milsy & bring back the reds.

I'm happy to disagree with people. I'm happy to argue. I'm happy to have people that live in opposite land to me and are vocal about why they're right and I'm wrong. Everyone needs a nemesis and I feel the site would be poorer without some of mine. I like that I can trade serious blows with some in heavy weather and then give & receive genuine advice with (some of) the same people in other forums. It makes me respect them.

But some can't go literally 5 posts without resorting to personal attacks, and 10 posts without being banned. What's the point of that?

OK, redthumbs have gone the way of the dinosaur, so may I suggest we now get rid of the "smiley faces" to, because it seems that you can post an ad hominem comment, but as long as you post a "smiley" with it then it's OK and perfectly acceptable.
Or maybe add a thumbs down smiley so you can respond in the negative openly without having to enter an irrational debate into....eg. whether the earth is flat, or something equally ludicrous?
