Why can't we just adjust the clocks be 1/2 an hour and keep everyone happy.

Bring it on!
Solution for kids is : curtains, aircon, fans, and discipline !
By the way how do you keep them in bed in the morning when it is daylight at 4:30 am?

Simple, It aint 40 degrees at 4.30 in the morning.

When was the last time you had 40 degree at 4:30 in the morning?

WTF are you on about felix I said it's not 40 degrees at 4.30am. But I remember it being 40 at 9pm when we had daylight saving.

40 degree at 9pm, In Exmouth? You have no aircon up North? feel sorry for you!

Jeez mate you sound like the government, we keep saying no we don't want it and you keep saying no your wrong you really do want it.
Not that I should bother explaining myself but running the aircon to sleep in 25 degrees compared to 40 saves a fortune. I am not going to show our power bills but considering the aircon is probably 90% of our power the difference over summer can be hundreds of dollars just by sleeping when it's cooler.
Interestingly while camping (no aircon)over summer we actually sleep in more as it's cooler in the mornings than evenings

Don't think you need it over there, WA has 5 hours longer daylight than the east coast already

Did I hear that we might be getting DLS back again

Make it snappy, like next week

No I don't ride a bike early in the morning without lights

Flame suit on & ready

Just in case you haven't googled it, I think this is what the OP relates to. Don't change the clocks yet.

For my 2c, bring it on!! I would love some extra time in the evenings and considering I have 2 young kids, I reckon it would improve our quality of life and family time.

Finally I get a response rather than a **** fight

I did a quick google search & found SFA so thought I would put it to the brains trust

100% for it but I reckon that it should be at least 2 hours, 6.30 is a decent time for the daylight to start but the extra 2 hours at night afterwork would be awesome!

So anyone into wind wants it but it shuts the door for many for the early surf.

The idea of taking the kids to the beach in the evening with the extra hour we had was often laughable as its blowing its t--s off.

Getting up in the morning and getting the kids down to the beach when there is little wind for me was a much better outcome.

We keep saying no and they keep trying

Sorry just has to add that it seems that anyone who gets up in the morning for there recreation is a lycra wearing d---head according to the posters above but those that get their late afternoon fill in the afternoon ae just too cool.

You have got to love the way people tar everyone with the same brush.

Personally, Daylight Savings doesn't suit my lifestyle - it reduces the amount of time i can surf before work, and by the time i knock off in the afternoon the sea breeze is in. Sure, its great for surfing on those glassy afternoons, but we only get a handful of them each summer, even less when there's swell about.

However, I think anything that gets people off the couch, away from the television and outside into the fresh air is fantastic. Society in general benefit from a healthier lifestyle, increased socialization, higher vitamin D levels and the all-round boost to mental health that comes from sunshine. There are studies which show Daylight Savings actually does reduce traffic accidents, it does reduce crime rate.

If your kids won't go to bed when they're told, maybe you're just a crap parent and your little free range f***ers could do with some rules...

Yep time for both with our current time although without the swell most of the summer.

It's the oposite here when it gets real hot with everyone sitting in the aircon trying to keep cool and out of the sun (you can get too much) or at the pub.
and whats with all the hate at kids sleeping when it's cooler

^^^ agreed - what's with the "can't be a good parent if kids don't sleep" sort of vibe?
It is simple fact they toss n turn a bit if it is light and/or hot and don't actually sleep properly until after 9pm
So they sleep deeply 10pm - 6am (still gotta get up for school) instead of something like 8-6. Last trial all the kids were fatigued looking. We had to put a toddler to bed in 35deg plus and full light at 9pm.
Not everyone has aircon ......
And the 'we know better' types from over east who have never been here don't realise just how different WA summer is to their experience so drag out the cows and curtains insults. Knobs.

Screw daylight savings that's for east coasters. I get plenty of time to surf before work if there is swell and more than enough to kite after.
