At 0:13 you can see the drugs in the cops hands about to be planted. This kid hardly even drinks apparently.
I Wonder what makes them choose you? He looks pretty straight laced. I guess if you are that dirty then they don't choose someone acting like a dick etc it's just the nearest easiest person. I find such a scant regard for someone's future (esp a kid) hard to take, and have always struggled when people say they love the place as I think it's an absolute shxt hole and a dangerous shxthole. When you can't trust the police its not worth going

On one of our trip to Bali my lovely missus put a plastic satchel with a laundry powder in a bag..I had no idea, because it's her job packing bags..anyhow..I am taking our bag off the baggage carousel at Denpasar airport and see the security plastic lock is broken.. getting suspicious I am opening the bag and going through belongings when see this satchel with a white powder..nearly had a heart attack

Wow!!! That's the clearest evidence of a setup I've seen. I think they chose him because he had a bumbag( easy to slip something in). They messed up not editing the footage before they released it.
I hope the media jump on this pretty quick, but not likely due to the need to milk everything for ratings - f***ing parasites

Has this already been edited ? there is a gap in the system, with no hands in sight ?

YES it's been edited by the news site!!! This really stinks, what the hell is going on? The original video clearly showed the security guard with the powder in his hand and putting it in the bag!
I also went looking for it on YouTube and they've all been edited!

edit: had a think about it, he will probably be out by the end of the day, no charges, and video was ordered to be edited by the Aussie government to stop a major diplomatic incident.

yep edited since i posted. surely its a bigger story that these guys were planting the evidence and it was on video? I cant believe they didnt run with it Perhaps its not just sensationalism - i doubt it but perhaps nine (or some agency who asked them) are concerned about the outcomes if they embarrass and accuse the indonesians. the only thing i can think of as to why they wouldn't run with the bigger (huge) story of cops on film planting drugs
after all there's nothing those short little asians dislike more than losing face.

maybe its some perverse sort of warning to other bali schoolies not to do drugs (by using the media?) ]
i mean they didnt even give him a chance to offer a bribe so im fxcked if i know what they have to gain?
Diplomatic pressure on Australia maybe?
Fxckers. Aus Govt should be very aggressive in defence of this kid

Think it went a little something like this:
Kid buys drugs.
Kid gets searched and busted.(CCTV on wa today)
Taken to cop shop.
Media notified and taken back to nightclub for re-enactment video.
Channel nine put up video of re-enactment as the actual arrest.
Looks pretty bad for the Indonesian police.
Australian government says to Indonesia "how about we get rid of that video and you guys say it was paracetamol "
Indonesia begrudgingly say ok.

In all reality there's a good chance that channel nines misrepresentation of the news saved this kids ar*e.

I'm not usually into conspiracies but I recon that coke turned into paracetamol after they learned about the video. The media might even be complicit. We won't make a big deal over the video and some poor sap won't go to gaol.

We will all know the "truth" when he returns to Perth and is unable to make comment due to an "agreement" made with the Indo police not to discuss the matter.

I went to Bali decades ago. Every day leaving the water this guy would try sell me a bag of white powder drugs. Anyway i told him to f-ooff every day. Then he started offering it for free.

Eventually one day he just put in in between my arm and board and walked off. I took a swing at him with my board and then noticed a guy in the tree line shacking his head to say "No" to this guy.. I legged it to my hotel scared ****less. The hotel told me it would have been a local cop and his accomplice to get me the drugs, then bust me, then bribe my way out..

Bothered me back then and still does to this day TBH..I know its silly, but its scary and I'm stunned people would let their kids do schoolies in Bali..

There is so much more to this than the corrupt judicial system in Bali. Maybe the police did plant the drugs, maybe the kid was an easy target but it is possible that with too much money, a spoilt teenager who had been offered cheap drugs thought, " Why not, everyone else in Kuta does it after dark". Even the dumbest person in Australia knows that you can not walk 50 metres in the night club precinct in Kuta without someone offering you a prostitute and/or drugs. So what type of parent ( I'll let you be the judge) would pay for their own children to be exposed to this lifestyle/situation with minimal supervision with a bunch of mates who think they are all grown up, but truth be told can not probably do up their own shoes-laces without supervision.
Is this the end result of another instance of quality parenting in Australia.
Before I get flamed for saying this - Yes I know he is 18, but after just finishing school the money for airfares, accommodation, insurance, food, drinks, entertainment, etc did not come from a part time job a KFC considering how dedicated he was to weekend sport (soccer).
I am very pleased that he will be able to return home where when he gets caught with drugs our judicial system will offer him counselling, a warm milky drink and a lollipop to go home with.

Spin, corruption, vested interests controlling the media.

Don't be so hard on the poor Balinese. Their corruption is just less sophisticated and open.

Ours is far more sinister, complex and conceded.

What police force reinacts arrests for the press?! What a shxt show. Well after seeing the CCTV of him buying the drugs its just lucky he was sold the wrong stuff. His parents are fools for allowing him to go. If not drugs, drink spiking, organised crime, the temptation of nailing a local or prostitute and the potential for aids etc. And I doubt you would even be able to get proper Coke in bali.

Been to Bali 1/2 dozen times and love the place. We generally stay away from Kuta. Too many idiots, The Balinese people in general are awesome but this is a third world country and scammers and corruption are abound. We regularly get offered drugs on the street. Same group every night outside the Circle K(711) store up the road from where we stay in Legian. Why don't they arrest these people, because they don't actually have drugs. It's just a scam for the uninitiated. If you manage to find one with drugs, you can bet mr plod will be around the corner. Go to Bali, enjoy the the place, but dont forget to pack your brains with you.

Some people are destined to fall on the rocks, one way or another. After the media saturation of Corby and the Bali 9, anyone still buying drugs off the street in places like Bali probably don't have a place in the gene pool.

Corrupt cops, corrupt systems, corrupt "Indos", corrupt media...The list goes on. The truth lies somewhere in between I reckon.

If you are to look at it from a more impartial way, surely you can see there is something silly about this young buggar's action? It is a well-known fact that Bali is crawling with dodgy characters who are out to make a dollar in illegal means, and selling drugs is one of them. Why would this accused person pay for a bag of "white powder" ? Herbal medicine ? Pains relief? Viagra ? The intention is there to buy drugs, and he got conned out of some dough. jbshack said a few posts earlier that he did the right thing and he acted correctly to reject the offer of a bag of white powder. Perhaps we need to think a bit deeper, and ask why did this man buy that bag of powder ?

Conspiracy, outrage, bad "Indos" will make us feel more superior. Perhaps that is exactly the purpose of this thread ? Sorry to spoil your party, folks

^^^ Well said.

It seems like a case of teenager making a dumb decision. Who didn't do dumb **** when they were young, It's part of growing up...

He tried to buy drugs. Someone sold him dope that wasn't dope...

He got caught with what looked like drugs.

He was treated and arrested according to the laws of the country he was in.

They investigated and he has been let go.

Seems like a normal chain of events.

I thought it was strange a lot went straight for the set up / wasn't me angle. It is a young teenager on a party holiday.... Surely we aren't naive enough to think it is only footy players taking Coke...

Interesting to see if he can pull it off ..................

1 claiming a set up
2 admitting he got ripped off on the streets and got lucky super lucky

Even so if he was set up / luck them fks didn't make up the test results ...............at least something was done wright

Funny how it all went down right on schoolies with advisory put out days before they were cracking down on schoolies
