I'd propose a solution to fill the void left by the demise of Heavy Weather.

Create a thread, comment disabled for forum members, in which the mods post a showcase of all the sookie-lala complaints they received from those butt-hurt enough in heavy weather, to cry to them.

Now to stop people posting comments on "The Funny Images Thread"
As people cant follow the rules

Where in the rulebook does it say you can't comment on a funny pic .?
I understand the terror or huge inconvenience imposed having to scroll past a comment , but lucky for me I'm not badly effected and enjoy some of the comments . Sometimes more funny than the pic.

The rule is on the very first post

You hardcore rebel you

I went to the first post and comments are not mentioned.
The thread however is in the general DISSCUSSION section.
The meaning of a thread is comments on the subject . So technically a funny image thread is comments on the image.
I don't often comment on the funny pics but I do find some funny , im sure some others find the comments worthwhile , just saying .
If there was a vote to comment or not , and not was the winner , I promise not to comment again.
I don't like to upset ,

Sure, make comments in the Funny Images thread, but make them funny.

Obviously, if you feel the urge to start topics on politics, religion, racism, conspiracies, etc, these will be removed ...

Seems like a moderator resource-intense regulatory system to me. (Plus, experiments confirm the criteria governing deletion is a grey area).

What about red/green thumbs for a thread overall - if there are say net 10 red thumbs the topic self deletes? This would be self regulating by the SB community, and also provide incentives for careful choice of topics.

I think what was observed from before was that plenty of people out there used to red-thumb a lot and never green thumb. It suggests that all your threads would disappear over night after someone not liking a person lays a red thumb on them, followed by nine more.

People are rubbish at moderating themselves let alone others.

Fishing forum was the best
Pictures of massive amounts of fish kill - some undersize some over bag limits
Tall fisher tales of dolphin and seal slaying
and the best damn whale recipies ever.

Bring it back

Isn't closing Heavy Weather a bit like closing all the lunatic asylums? Now they'll all be out on the street yelling at people. Take a look recent posts to the Funny Images thread.

What's on these sites?
my curiosity doesn't extend far enough to click on them

I clicked one.
The guy was just slagging off a forum user on a different page.
Not worth the click

Yeah. Last time I checked yesterday, it was someone calling me a ******. I never understood gay slurs. If I were gay it wouldn't bother me. If I am not, is it supposed to bother me that someone is calling me gay, with the idea it bothered me only if I wasn't.... If you follow the logic, it makes no sense as an insult at all.

Whoever it was must have really got upset by the closure of heavy weather. Its time to move on, respect the forum owners rules or leave. Simple really.

Does anyone else here really get that invested in the arguments on here? For me its interesting to argue the point with different people, but if it gets personal then its time to stop as no one ever changed their mind by being insulted.

Someone though seems to have little emotional control and is upset by its closure. Maybe HW closure is a good idea after all if you get fruitcakes like that?
