Weather Situation for Queensland Gulf of Carpentaria
A weak pressure gradient extends over the Gulf Waters. Severe Tropical Cyclone Narelle [963 hPa] in the northern Coral Sea is forecast to continue moving westwards while intensifying. Narelle is then forecast to weaken as it crosses Cape York Peninsula on Friday, enter the Gulf and begin reintensifying on Friday night, and move towards the Northern Territory on Saturday.

A high in the Tasman Sea extends a ridge over the east of the state. Severe Tropical Cyclone Narelle [963 hPa] in the northern Coral Sea is forecast to continue moving westwards while intensifying, entering the Cooktown and Peninsula waters on Thursday night and crossing the Far North Queensland coast on Friday morning.
Weather Situation for South Queensland
A high in the Tasman Sea extends a ridge along the coast of southern Queensland, and will be maintained by a second high cross southern Australia.
