Weather Situation for Queensland Gulf of Carpentaria
Tropical low 18U [998 hPa] continues to move west over the Northern Territory, and extends a trough east across the southern Gulf of Carpentaria. The trough is likely to shift further south onto the Gulf coast this week, maintaining a northwesterly wind flow across Gulf waters.
Weather Situation for North Queensland
A weak trough extends across the Mackay waters, with northwesterly winds to the north of the trough and southeasterly winds to the south. The trough will begin to shift north from Monday in response to a ridge of high pressure strengthening along the coast. The ridge will strengthen further throughout the week as a high begins to move east across the Tasman Sea.
Weather Situation for South Queensland
A vigorous trough and southeasterly change will cross the southeast waters on Monday and into Central Queensland Tuesday. A firm ridge of high pressure will develop in the wake of the trough as a high moves east across the Tasman Sea.
