I meant heel side one handed. Is there any benefit / point?

Foot switching isn't a problem. I always switch back to heel side

I think the beauty of it is that there's no need to foot swap with the PW. Unlike winging where you're twisted up holding the wing, riding the PW one handed toeside is relatively easy. I guess it takes one thing out of the process, foot swapping.
I personally like the feeling of leaning out frontways hanging onto the PW.

I think the pw has by nature such a small range where it rips up wind and by riding toeside you are compromising that range a little more along with angle. Now the non switchers are going to say they make the same angle toeside but I have never seen it. toeside is still loading your body up for asymmetric imbalance issue. Not as bad as winging.

Get your hand a little bit more forward on the bar.

Towards the side where harness loop is ?

Just towards the front of the bar. Think of the front of the bar as your fixed lines on a kite and your rear lines as de-power/break. If you are too near the middle of the bar, you start to choke the pwing.

Yes but how much consistently better and more comfortable could it have been through a broader wind range.

I can do both and the difference is stark. You know it. They are not bad and probably better than some can do switch with other brands, but not great. Send me your bad days where your a getting a little over powered.

Tacking seems a lot harder on a Para compared to a Wing, but when it comes together seamlessly it feels fantastic !

- and backhand tacks are trickier again than toeside tacks, & my hit rate is lower for those, at this stage ...

The wind is F##king Sh!t , 12 to 20 SE to SW gust . As soon as I put the Para in the air it drops to 12 . I've had one good run this week . Been to the water everyday just to chug and a couple KM of reaches in gusty windballs. My highlight was when a gust hit me in the middle of gybe more from the west & the para went 360 around my body , I swapped hands behind my back and by some miracle foiled away laughing my head off in disbelief. Probably never pull that off again. It's currently 14 to 20 but all over the shop so fingers crossed however it's really cooled down fast , could be the beginning of the end for good wind , winter is coming in fast.

I finally got out for my first para session yesterday. I winged for about an hour before it to warm up. 4.0m POW and an Armstrong 85ML I borrowed from a friend. Code 1130s. Took me about 3 paddle out to the middle of our little bay. It blows onshore, so you have to paddle out far so you don't get blown right back to shore while learning. I got up after that 3rd paddle out. Rode around for a while and then got up again the other way. Finally, by the end of the 11 mile session I had pulled off a few jibes on both tacks, so overall a really successful first session.

I've gone in head first . With great wind over Easter I did 4 days straight , can now get up both ways can sort of jibe . Last session logged 13km on foil (Calm water) can point well up wind and switch. I'm on a Frigate 4m & Sunova 6-3 x 21 x 94 L , I'm going to swap the board for a Axis mini Dart 6-4 x 20.5 x 100L it's over all just an easier board to stand/chug/start on ( I'm 87kg). Our wind is pretty sh!t here and I worked out pretty quickly having just one Para I will loose water time (and swear heaps more) due to the Para's small wind range. So my question is what to add to my quiver keep in mind this is for the fastest progression . I'll redo my kit including the board once I become a component Para winger. I'm thinking adding a F-One Quest 3 & 5m to my 4m Frigate . Appreciate you thoughts. Plus don't have a harness the new Manera looks the goods to me . Hopefully do first ocean DW this weekend.

I have the 4.7m frigate and have just got the 6m Quest which is now my goto for these gusty 10 - 20 knots. In a solid consistent wind 17 knots, the 4.7 is fine. The 6m allows me to not have to come in and keep changing sizes in the gusty wind range from 10-20 knots. I am interested in the low end of the 4m Quest to add to my quiver
