Yes, I think most searches are primarily visual, and bright colours should be a big help. Also, the addition of reflective materials on helmets and shoulders would make sense in case of a search extending beyond daylight.
As does a strobe, which is included on a PLB.

I learned this weekend that the ideal option (in worst case scenario) is to have an Israeli bandage and a tourniquet. You first apply the tourniquet, then the bandage, then aim to remove the tourniquet within 20-30 minutes (the timeframe before potential lasting damage is done to muscles and nerves (plus other side effects). For my purposes, this option is something that I'm primarily considering for longer offshore runs or when going out in places that are higher risk or isolated, etc. It's not my intention to be "over the top" mainly to think about mitigating risk when the impacts of not doing it could be significantly more consequential.
Thanks for the suggestion of the Israeli bandage. Looks ideal. Unluckily I've had two foil injuries that both would have benefited from an Israeli bandage. I reckon it looks like a an excellent item to carry in its own waterproof packet. One person said 'ideal for stab wounds' - they must foil ??

Sharks make me nervous.they're all over the place.and they're such marvelous and delicate creatures. It breaks my heart whenever I hit one (yearly at least) I know I just ruined his day. I'm 100% the most dangerous animal in the ocean.
